children’s book A Checklist for Dad, written by Dr Tricia L.Larose, a former IARC postdoctoral scientist

Our thoughts are with everyone around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, especially

health-care workers. It appears that people with pre-existing noncommunicable diseases (NCDs),

including cancer, are at higher risk of becoming severely ill, according to the World Health

Organization (source: WHO Information Note on COVID-19 and NCDs).

IARC’s priority is conducting cancer prevention research to save lives. Our team remains mobilized

throughout this period, and is working with determination towards a world free of preventable

cancers.
