Basic Accounting Research Project

PART A – GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Grouping For Coursework

The minimum student per group is 4 with maximum 6 members per group (from the same

tutorial class and program). Any grouping more or less than the range stated shall be

penalized by deduction of 0.5 mark (maximum) for inability to follow basic guide

stated.

2. Plagiarism Statement Declaration All students MUST sign on the plagiarism statement (refer Part D – PLAGIARISM) and

attach the original signed copy with the coursework. This must be attached on the first

page of the coursework.

Kindly be reminded that only ORIGINAL copy signed by the member is acceptable.

3. Harvard Referencing Method

Harvard referencing shall be adopted for this coursework and you can get the copy of

such format from the CEL in ASSIGNMENT folder. Kindly read, understand and comply

to the requirement of such standard. Please consult your respective tutors for guidance on

referencing requirements if in doubt.

However, if you are still in doubt after the tutor’s explanation, kindly write to your

4. Deadline for Submission – continued

For late submission of coursework a penalty of 1 mark shall be deducted if the

coursework not received by tutor on 4 June 2012 and an additional 1 mark shall be

deducted if the group fail to submit by 5 June 2012. Coursework after the 6 calendar days

of the deadline (ie. after 6 June 2012) shall not be accepted and students (ie. the group)

shall deemed to have not submitted the first coursework and have secured ZERO marks.

Failing all combined coursework (1 & 2 ie. not securing at least 50%) means having to

this subject.

To clear this paper you MUST get a total of 50% from the 100 marks of 2 possible

coursework as follows:

Coursework 1 (40%) – Group assignment (4 to 6 pages report for Introduction, Content

and Conclusion and excludes cover, table of content, appendix, reference, plagiarism

declaration report, safe assign report);

Coursework 2 (60%) –individually tested question comprising of the following format:

9. Syllabus For Coursework Examination

1st coursework (group) shall be uploaded into the CEL and made available to the

students on Week 1 and for submission is Week 5 (31 May 2012 before 1pm Malaysia

time). Late submission shall be subject to penalty and last deadline is 5 June 2012 – 1pm

Malaysian time which is subject to penalty stated on item 4 “Deadline for Submission”.

ZERO marks shall apply if you fail to submit by 5 June 2012.

were tested, group coursework fulfills team building requirement and if your team fails to

contribute you can report to your tutor.

If you have any complaint due to lack of cooperation by any one of your team, you may

submit your formal WRITTEN complaint with evidence of the lack of cooperation.

Create a log book for signature of attendance and indicate when your team fail to

8. Safe Assign

Safe assign is a 3rd

party software where students are required to upload the FINAL copy

of the report in Assignment folder. A percentage will appear indicating the figure you

have plagiarized. You are required to print the first page where the percentage is indicated

as evidence of having performed safe assign.

As this is your first research coursework, NO penalty is implemented. This exercise is to

introduce students on how to use Safe Assign and shall prepare you towards higher level.

Since we have large volume of students (main and branches) checking their finalized

report and we urge you to spread your work to avoid last minute ‘traffic jam’ and not

able to use the software. If you upload your report more than once the percentage shall

increase as your original file shall be kept into the system.

9. File Naming Convention For Safe Assign

To get your file name formalized, you shall be assigned special number so that we can

track your file prior to checking from safe assign. Kindly get the assigned number from

As this is your first research base assignment as a year 1 semester 1 students we shall
