Research and Responses• I visited this local exhibition at Priory Church in Dunstable. I was impressed

at the amount of relevant artifacts they had to display from the war! I was particularly interested in the uniform on the dummy, the medals and the range of helmets on display.

Draping onto the mannequin

I draped various different fabrics onto the mannequin and secured using trench coat style belts and fastenings to inspire my designs.

Developmental Work

I made fabric manipulation samples that tested different sorts of fabrics to inform my design process, I also designed a Spring/Summer collection to follow the Autumn/Winter design that I made

Colour Palette• I chose a military themes colour palette of

khaki greens, browns and beiges.• I chose a red accent to offset the khaki hues,

inspired by the memorial poppies in Paul Cummings’ Seas of Red installation.

Mood Boards and Display

I made two mood boards for my trench coat project, The first for for Autumn/ Winter

. . . And another for Spring/ Summer

My trench coat themed design was displayed in An exhibition along with the rest of my group’s designs on the 18th of December 2014 on the ground floor of The Store, Central beds college.
