YUELI-ICU
WHAT IS APA?
APA is the American Psychological Association
they make guidelines for researchers
they give a specific style for writing research papers
SO???
We will use this style when we write our research papers in Levels 4 and 5
Most importantly, we will use APA to tell our readers WHERE WE READ OUR INFORMATION
In Level 4, we will use APA in-text citation
There are 2 main things we must look atwhen we need to citehow we make the citation
WHEN DO WE NEED TO CITE?
Remember the story from last week about William Kamkwamba?
Look for an APA style citationMaking a DifferenceGrowing up in rural Malawi, Africa, William Kamkwamba learned to accept that life was hard. He lived with his parents in a small clay house without electricity or running water. According to Smith and Weston (2005), running water is still very rare in 70% of Malawi. Like most boys in his village, William was expected to assist his parents on the family farm, as well as keep up with his school work. Each night, like most Malawians, his family went to bed early because the Kerosene oil they needed to light the lamps was costly.
Authors: Jennifer Bixby & Jaimie Scanlon Date: 2013
