    ARTERIAL LINE:-

    Arterial line

    An arterial line, or art-

    line, or a-line, is a

    thin catheter inserted into

    an artery.

It is most commonlyused in intensive care

    medicine and anesthesia

    to monitor the blood

    pressure real-time.

    BI-PAP

    BI-LEVEL POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE:-

    Bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP)

is a continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP) mode used during noninvasive

    positive pressure ventilation.

It delivers a inspiratory positive airway

    pressure (IPAP) and expiratory positive

    airway pressure (EPAP).

Bi-level positive airway pressure is used

when positive airway pressure is needed

with the addition of pressure support.

    BREATHING MACHINE ( VENTILATOR):-

    Ventilator

A medical ventilator (orsimply ventilator in context) is a

    machine designed to mechanically

move breatheable air into and out

of the lungs, to provide the

mechanism of breathing for apatient who is physically unable to

    breathe, or breathing insufficiently.

    Ventilators are chiefly used

in intensive care medicine, homecare, and emergency medicine (as

    standalone units) and

in anesthesia (as a component of

    an anesthesia machine).

    BRONCHOSCOPE:-Bronchoscope means

    examination of bronchus.

A bronchoscope is a device used

to see the inside of the airways and

    lungs.

The scope is passed throughyour mouth or nose, through your

    windpipe (trachea), and then into

    your lungs. Going through the

nose is a good way to look at the

    upper airways. The mouth method

allows the doctor to use a larger

    bronchoscope.

    CALL BUTTON:-

A nurse call button is a button found around

a hospital bed that allows patients in health

care settings to alert a nurse or other health care

staff member remotely of their need for help.

When the button is pressed, a signal alerts staff

at the nurse's station, and usually,a nurse or nurse assistant responds to such a call.

    CAPNOGRAPHY

    Capnography

Capnography is the monitoring of the

concentration or partialpressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the

    respiratory gases.

It is usually presented as a graph of

expiratory CO2 plotted against time, or,less commonly, but more usefully,

    expired volume.

The capnogram is a direct monitor of

the inhaled and exhaled concentration or

partial pressure of CO2, and an indirect

monitor of the CO2 partial pressure in

    the arterial blood.

    Chest drainage device

    CHEST DRAINAGE DEVICE:-

The chest drainage device includes a chest

tube and a chest drainage unit.

A chest tube is placed to remove air or fluid

from around a patient's lung. The chest

drainage unit is attached to the chest tube by

elastic tubing that allows the air or fluid to

drain. The chest drainage unit may be seen

attached to the patient's bed or resting on the

floor next to the patient's bed. Fluid draining

from the chest will be seen in the chestdrainage unit. Some chest drainage units have

    a chamber that bubbles constantly.

    ECG Machine

    Electrocardiography is a

transthoracic (across the thorax orchest) interpretation of the electrical

activity of the heart over a period

    of time, as detected

by electrodes attached to the surfaceof the skin and recorded by a device

    external to the body.

    The recording produced by

    this noninvasive procedure is

    termed an electrocardiogram (also

    ECG or EKG).

    ECG PAD:-

An ECG pad is a small device that

is placed on the body to detect the

    electrical activity of the heart.

They are placed on the body and

connected to wires (leads) that lead

    into an ECG machine

(electrocardiograph), which displaysthe information on a bedside monitor

    and/or prints it.

ECG pads do not hurt. Due to the

adhesive used to hold ECG pads onthe skin, when they are removed

there is a small pull on the skin.

A pressure bag, also called a pressure

pump, is a special bag used with an IVbag.

The IV bag contains fluids (blood,

medications or nutrients) and connects via

IV tubing to an IV line in the patient. IV

fluids normally drip into the IV line. Thepressure pump is used to help the IV fluids

either run faster or continuously flow into

    the patient.

A pressure bag is used when a criticallyill or injured patient requires a rapid

administration of fluids or blood products

because of an emergency situation, such

as low blood pressure or bleeding.Pressure bag
