I got the idea for the “green” dream house from Kilowatt Kidz in

MESA.  Kilowatt Kidz is a program where students learn how to be energy

efficient.

Mr. Novak, a guest speaker who came to our school,

introduced me to the Sundolier which inspired me

to do the most energy efficient home.  The Sundolier

is a sun catcher that magnifies the suns rays into a room that lights up the whole

place.

Both of these things inspired me because I thought that my family was spending too

much money on electricity.  An example of the benefits of living in a energy efficient

house would be when the power goes out we would still have electricity and heat.  By

using solar panels, we could charge batteries to use when there is no sun shining.  This

would keep us from using fossil fuel energy.  

Somebody would want to  build this house because it would reduce the need for fossil fuel energy and habitat loss from pollution from burning coal.  Besides that, if all appliances were energy star then we would save more energy. Also, using LED or CFL lights would also save more energy.
