I Do or I Donʼt! Is Cohabitation a replacement for Marriage? Are more couples deciding to live together instead of getting married? Is marriage really a thing of the past? Everywhere you look, there are more and more couples deciding that living together is a better alternative. Oddly enough, many of them do not have any plans of a wedding date or taking that trip down the aisle in the near future. With the economy ever changing and individuals deciding that one income households are just not enough, relationships are starting to resemble small business mergers and financial arrangements instead of the traditional union between two people who were seemingly in love. Living together can be a healthy alternative to jumping the broom and taking the plunge before marriage. When you reside in the same household, you learn a lot more about the person that you so affectionately spend great amounts of time with. You learn their habits and style of house keeping, the good, the bad and the ugly. For some, this is a determining factor on whether they will consider marriage to this person. While for others, itʼs a way out of the responsibility of marriage and commitment as a whole. No matter which way you look at it, whether itʼs for financial reasons or simply as a gauge to determine if you are ready to seal the deal with this person forever, cohabitation is becoming more and more prevalent and marriages are seemingly beginning to fade, or are they?
