The activity center defined by the City of Hutto represents the Sustainable Places Project demonstration area chosen for the first phase of long-term development in Hutto’s future.
Land use in the activity center can model sustainable growth
according to Hutto’s values. Affordability, walkability, jobs-
housing balance, air quality, and open space are indicators
used to paint a vision of environmental, economic, and
social sustainability. All Sources:City of Hutto, Temple College, Google Images, Photographer Bianca Bidiuc
In this scenario, future growth in the activity
center is guided by Hutto’s values to provide
upscale and retirement housing options, family-
friendly walkable neighborhoods in close
proximity to schools, and Hutto’s first major
grocery store.
Hutto’s activity center can be a model for sustainable
growth, providing multiple housing
options, appropriate jobs-housing balance,
and sparking a vibrant local economy, while
preserving open spaces and environmental
resources.
