Dear Friends,
As we celebrate the Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time we hear a difficult but necessary challenge if we are to be true followers of Jesus Christ. He tells us today to take up our own cross and follow him. Crosses, in whatever shape they take, are not naturally embraced. We would rather not have one. But as we journey through life we know that at some time, a cross, or crosses, will come our way. Let us pray this weekend for the strength to bear whatever cross comes our way and see in it the means of our spiritual growth and salvation.
On Monday of this week we once again return to our regular liturgical schedule for Masses and other things. Masses will be celebrated every Monday through Friday at 7AM and 9AM and on Saturdays at 9AM. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in church on Mondays (unless announced in advance) from 9:30 until 4PM with a simple reposition. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed on Monday afternoon during Exposition at 3PM. There is no better way to start the day than with Mass and Holy Communion and time with the Lord in quiet prayer. Please make use of these encounters with Christ as often as possible – you will notice a difference!
Also on Monday evening we will welcome back our PREP students and their families at a prayer service in church at 5PM. The students and parents will have an opportunity to meet the classroom teacher and receive the necessary materials all in preparation for the start of classes on September 21st.
The first meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council for this term will be held on Wednesday, September 16 in the school library. Any member who cannot be present, please contact Tom Utermark or the parish office. Any agenda items should also be submitted to Tom as soon as possible. The names and phone numbers of the members of this council are listed in the back of the bulletin for anyone in the parish who has an agenda item they wish discussed.
Through the generosity of some parishioners we have some SEPTA PASSES available for the weekend of the Papal visit for anyone who may wish to use them. There are various locations for these passes and some are for Saturday and some for Sunday. If you are interested, please contact the parish office and we will see what we can do to meet your traveling needs that weekend. Also, as supply lasts, we have tickets for the Festival of Families and the Papal Mass in the parish office. Call and inquire if there are any more available and we will be happy to supply you with what we have. TICKETS FOR THOSE WHO CALLED AND RESERVED TICKETS MAY BE PICKED UP IN THE OFFICE BEGINNING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21.
Next weekend we will begin the annual celebration of Forty Hours, a special time of grace and blessing for our entire parish. We are delighted to be able to welcome home FATHER MATTHEW TRALIES who will be the homilist for the devotions during these holy days. Devotions for Sunday will be held at 5PM followed by a light supper in Monsignor Marley Hall. Devotions on Monday and Tuesday will be at 7PM with a solemn procession on Tuesday to conclude this time of intense prayer. PLEASE SIGN UP for the time of Exposition throughout these days. We cannot have the Blessed Sacrament exposed without the presence of at least one parish member. Papers to sign up for a half hour or hour of adoration are in the back of church. Please invite your family and neighbors to come and see the parish at prayer!
As you can see progress continues on our expansion and renovation project. I am grateful for your continued support and sacrifices on behalf of this endeavor. I am also grateful for your patience and understanding as we meet the challenges associate with this undertaking. In the end, I am confident that you will be pleased and proud of what you have accomplished.
May Saint Robert Bellarmine bless our parish and our families during this very busy month of September!
With prayers,

ST. JOSEPH/ST. ROBERT SCHOOL NEWS
Phone: 215.343.5100 Web: www.stjstr.org
FROM THE DESK OF
MRS. JASTER
APPLE OF MY EYE: Congratulations to the first students who were recognized for doing something good: Hailey Jacobsen, TJ Waltrich, Kelce Sanford, Alyssa Slubowski and Millie Grove.
HAVE I GOT A DEAL FOR YOU! : Once again this year, I am hoping to encourage all of our students to be on time each day. Therefore, any week in which we have no one arrive late to school, I will extend Friday’s lunch recess by five minutes. (In the past few years, I have only had to extend the lunch recess once each year. I am hoping we do much better this year!) If buses are late, that doesn’t count against late arrival.
CAR RIDERS: Due to the construction on the parish campus, we have been asked to have all cars enter the school parking lot through Rogers Road. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
HOME AND SCHOOL NEWS: There are some important dates/deadlines for everyone: Lunch Orders: All orders
must be placed online. The link will be available until Friday night, September 11th.
Home and School Meeting: The first Home and School meeting of the year will take place on Thursday evening, September 17th beginning at 7pm in the school cafeteria.
Potluck Dinner: This is an annual family event hosted by grade two families for families in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Grade One. We are looking forward to seeing the families next Friday evening, September 18th.
Bingo Bonanza: Tickets are going fast! Don’t be left out of this fun-filled evening! Mark your calendars for Friday, October 16th.
September Fillable Forms: Please send these forms in ASAP!. Go to the parent tab on the school website, click on the forms tab and then click on the September Forms only.
JUST A THOUGHT: As we look forward to the upcoming World Meeting of Families and the presence of Pope Francis, I thought these words of his about families were especially noteworthy:
“You need three phrases in a family: May I? Thank you! I’m sorry.
Wouldn’t our lives be so much more peaceful if we all practiced making these words a part of our lives!

SAVE THE DATE On October 24, teens from across the Archdiocese will be participating in a Day of Mercy to honor Pope Francis for his time in Philadelphia and also to celebrate this, the Year of Mercy. Bucks County has partnered up with some awesome organizations. Detailed information will be available on a flyer in the coming weeks. Please note the deadline to sign up is October 12.
I am wondering if anyone would be interested in going by train in town on Wednesday the 23rd for Adoration at the Basilica and a walk around the parkway where the Pope will be. We would be participating in a special way as an adorer for the WMOF event and if you are not going to see the Pope I thought this might be cool to just be there and see where everything will take place. Then when you watch
the event unfold on TV you will have some perspective about the area and know you were there. Just a thought....... If there is interest we will go. I will keep you updated
Reminder: Our Forty hours celebration is September 20 thru 22. Check out the next page for more details. Note the special 5pm service with dinner to follow on Sunday. Plan on spending time before the Lord in Adoration and participate in the evening talks with Fr. Tralies
