• HUMAK’s structure is a network of 9 campuses and total number of students is about 1,500• NGO and Youth Work in Joensuu, Nurmijärvi, Tornio, Äänekoski

• Cultural production in Jyväskylä, Kauniainen, Lappeenranta, Turku

• Sign Language Interpretation in Helsinki, Kuopio

• The number of personnel is approximately 150, supported by numerous part-time instructors

• Rector’s Office is located in Helsinki

For example, students can

• participate in multicultural activities

• take part in instruction given by foreign exchange teachers,

• participate in language instruction offered at various HUMAK campuses.

• Studies for the UAS degree consists of

o Basic and professional studies

o Optional studies

o Practical training

o Bachelor’s thesis

• The extent of the studies is 210 – 270 ECTS credits, and the duration is 3,5 – 4, 5 years

• Most UASs are multidisciplinary, i.e part of the studies can be chosen from different fields of study

• International experience comes from studies an practical training abroad

• Practice, different projects and BA’s thesis are implemented in co-operation with the companies and corporations

• Close interaction with working life guarantees good job opportunities

• Graduates from UAS can build on their professional competence by continuing in Master’s programmes in UAS

• Professionally oriented, offer graduates already in working life an excellent opportunity to advance and expand their skills in their own specialisation area

• The requirements for Master's studies are:

• Bachelors' level UAS degree, at least three years of work experience

• The MA Degrees are 60-90 ECTS, study time is 1,5-2 years

• UAS Master is equivalent to a University MA Degree in the labour market

• Each student has a personal study plan, which facilitates student guidance and the monitoring of study progress

• The programme structure in Master studies is often arranged in intensive study periods and, therefore, is part-time

Degree Programme

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civic Activities and Youth Work

- study time 3,5 years – extension 210 ECTS

- the degree programme includes studies in civic activity, participation, preventive work and youth work

- studies include both theoretical and practical themes

- the first practical training takes place during the first spring semester

Degree Programme

• During the second year of studies student chooses one of these professional orientation themes: • developing of organizations and voluntary work,

• practical developing of social strengthening (empowerment)

• developing of international and intercultural activity

• Both developing project (20 ECTS) and bachelor thesis (15 ECTS) are supposed to do during the third and fourth year of studies.
