Note: This tool can be used on only HUAWEI Ascend D1 and HUAWEI U9508 mobiles phones. Make sure you are using the proper phone.

Huawei Theme Editor Usage Guidelines

Step1: Load an existing theme

Method 1: Click the New button in the upper left corner, and select one of the default themes.

Method 2: If you do not want to edit a preinstalled theme, click the Open button and open an .hwt file saved on your computer. Alternatively, extract files from an .hwt file on your computer to a folder. On Theme Editor, click the Import button, open the theme folder, and select Description.hwt to import the theme.

Method 3: Connect your phone to the computer and edit your phone's

current theme.

After you load a theme to Theme Editor, Description in the left navigation tree is selected by default. Enter Title, Designer, Author, and Version to identify your theme.

Step 3: Select an unlock style

In the left navigation tree, click Unlock. On the 样式 tab, select the desired style and edit the pictures. By default, the unlock style used in your current theme is selected.

Step 4: Select the picture you wish to edit

Select a module from the left navigation tree to display all available pictures in the picture browsing area (second area from the left). Select the picture you wish to edit to display the picture editor (third area from the left).

If a module contains many pictures, you can click the button in the upper right corner of the picture browsing area to switch to the list view. You will then be able to find pictures by file name.

Step 5: Edit the selected picture

The third area from the left contains the picture editor. If the picture size does not match that of the black crop frame, drag the slider below to adjust the picture size. You can also press Ctrl+mouse scroll wheel to simultaneously adjust the size of the picture and black frame.

1. Picture note

After you select a picture, a note is displayed at the bottom of Theme Editor. The note describes the picture and the priority for replacing the picture. A higher priority contributes to a more obvious visual effect for the picture replacement.

(1) Replace the picture with another local picture: Click 本地替换 and select a picture in the same format as that of the original one.

You can also drag a picture to the picture browsing area to replace the original one.

Click 主题导入 . The 主题导入 dialog box is displayed, showing all pictures with the same file name as that of the picture being edited in the imported theme package. You can select a picture to replace the current picture. Alternatively, you can click the 导入主题 button, find a theme in .hwt format, and import the theme package. The theme will be loaded and decompressed, and files with the same file name as that of the picture being edited will be displayed. If no pictures are available in the theme package you imported, the message "导入主题中无可用资源 " is displayed.

Enter an angle and rotate the picture, or flip the picture horizontally or vertically.

(4) Change display mode.

Click the 拉伸 or 平铺 button to change picture display mode. To recover to the original picture, click the 原图 button.

Drag the crop frame to the desired position, and click the 确认 button to crop and replace the picture.

(6) Undo your action.

If the picture is not satisfactory, click the undo button in the upper right corner of the picture editing area to undo your action.

(7) Reset the picture.

To recover to the original picture, click the 重置 button.

(8) Check the picture status.

If a picture has been edited, a red bar appears at the bottom of its thumbnail and on the left of the picture in the list.

(9) Export a picture.

In the picture browsing area, right-click a picture and export it to your computer. You can then edit the picture using other tools. When you are done, use the 本地替换 function to import the picture.

Step 6: Edit the font color

In the picture browsing area, click the Xml tab. Click a color block to display the color board. You can then change the font color.

Step 7: Package a theme

(1) Package a theme to your phone.

After you edit a theme, connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable. Click the 打包至手机 button in the upper right corner of Theme Editor. Wait for a while. After the theme is packaged as an .hwt file and transferred to your phone, a message will be displayed. You can then find the theme in the Themes application on your phone.

After you edit a theme, click the 打包至本地 button in the upper right corner of Theme Editor, and select a folder to save the theme. The theme will be saved as an .hwt file.

Note: Theme mismatch message

If a theme to be packaged to your phone does not match the phone

resolution, the following message is displayed.
