The Fountains at Crystal Lake965 N. Brighton Circle WestCrystal Lake, IL 60012
For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts have
helped ensure the success of the iconic
annual cookie sale—and they’ve had fun,
developed valuable life skills, and made their communities a
better place every step of the way. We are happy to be
helping with this by having a local troop come in to sell
cookies to all of you! So, come join Troop #1960 on Sunday,
March 8th, 12:30-2:30 in the lobby. They are $5.00 a box and
must be paid in cash, at time of purchase.
The month of March unfolds new life and reawakening in our lives.
Our classes here at the Fountains, are designed to do the same!
Lornadee, was born in England, but raised in South Africa. With
Watermark University offerings, she is able to share her personal
experiences about the Tribes of Africa with you all. Since there are
over 3,000 Tribes, Lornadee has chosen to discus The Yoruba, The
richest Tribe; The Mbuit, A Tribe under threat from conservation;
Bayaka, one of the world's most remote Tribes; and Anuak of
Ethiopia. Please join her, Sunday, March 22 at 2:00pm.
If you would like a catalog/information on our classes we offer, or
would like to teach a class, please call Gina at 815/477-6582.

March 2020
The Gardens
The 5th century Anglo Saxons
referred to March as Hraed
Monath, or Rugged Month.
With our current vernacular,
we desire for March to, “come
in like a lion and go out like a
lamb." All of us here want you
to THRIVE during the
upcoming Hraed Monath and
toward that goal, we have a number of events planned for you. In
addition to our schedule of resident activities, we will also be
celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from 2:00-3:00 on Tuesday, March
17th with music by Mike and Tom and of course, green beer and
Irish Soda Bread made by our very own Residents! If you would like
to help make the bread, please come down to the Craft Room at
10:00am on Monday, March 16. Hope to see you all at these great
events!
Happy Spring,
Amy Dunn, Executive Director
HraedMonath Good nutrition is eating healthy foods
that benefit and provide good nutrients
to the body. It should consist of eating
3 meals a day and 3 healthy
snacks. Research also shows that people
who eat a low-fat meal for breakfast,
tend to eat less throughout the day.
An example of a great breakfast choice is
a cup of oatmeal. It is good for the heart
and a great source of fiber. Eat some fat!
Really, we need some fat in our diet to
help us absorb necessary vitamins. It is
wise to limit the salt in your diet
whether you have high blood pressure or
not. Food isn’t the enemy, sitting is! So,
try to exercise once a day for 15-20
minutes, not only will it help your heart,
but it will boost your metabolism! Learn
more about Benefits of Nutrition with
Nurse Lynn on Wednesday, March 11 at
1:00pm.
Path to Well-Being
The past 70 years have brought many changes to our lives. Back in 1950
people were listening to “Rag Mop” by Ames Brothers and going to watch
“Cinderella” in the Theater, but little did the world know that Bob and
Dorothy Ward were going to walk down the aisle and become man and
wife! After 7 decades together, they are still more in love with each other.
They met at church where they were involved in the youth group and
Dorothy even played piano there. The Ward's have achieved a marriage
that most of us could only dream about. When asked what was their secret
to a lasting marriage both expressed the same sentiment, “Trust,
communication, and faith.” If you see the Ward’s walking down the hall,
make sure to wish them a Happy 70th Wedding Anniversary and we wish
them many more years to come!
