How well did your House hold up to Hurricane Matthew?
Even if you can't find damage, an inspection is
still a good idea. You could have damage that's
hidden and will become apparent with the next
non-hurricane storm.
When Harbor Roofing and
Siding comes out to check things, if we find damage,
we'll give you what you need to file the claim with
your insurance company. We've got plenty of
experience in dealing with insurance claims.
Here's what we check:
• The roof - If you had impacts from flying debris, trees or big limbs, some damage is a given. You may not be able to see it. We check the outside and
then go in the attic to check. If you have shingles, some may torn
completely free. Some may be hanging on, but have to be replaced. Other kinds of roofing material display damage in different ways. We know what to
look for.
• Seams - We check the roof seams, wall seams and other places where parts of your house meet at an angle. Hurricane force winds can weaken
these areas. It's not often immediately apparent. It will get worse over time if it's not repaired.
• The walls - You may think a brick home can stand up to a hurricane.
Sometimes they can. Sometimes they can't. Brick damage ranges from obvious like holes to very subtle like tiny cracks where a wall lifted and
settled back down.

This is far more dangerous than a wall with very obvious damage. The tiny
cracks are proof of a weakened wall. It could collapse with the next high
wind.
We check vinyl siding. Siding is also very durable but can crack where it fits together. Again, it may not be immediately obvious now, but the next high
wind can finish ripping it free.
