Signing up Sign up using twitter as this platform is the main focus of hootsuite. If you don’t have a

twitter account go ahead and make one. *For this tutorial we will be using a free plan type of account. They offer a 30 day free trial

for the Pro plan.


Signing up Click ‘Authorize app’.


Hook them up Next, hootsuite will advise you to connect other social media accounts that you

may have. Choose according to your preference


Hook them up I connected my Facebook account. Then this pop up window appears. Click

‘Okay’.

If you want to connect it, Click ‘+’.

Hook them up After connecting the account/s you chose. Click ‘Continue’.

Then, wait for it to load.


One more thing Enter your e-mail address. Then click ‘Complete Registration’.


Pop-up This notice pops-up at the left side panel. You can close it for

now. And try tinkering on it later on.

See this horizontal scroll button at the upper right side. This controls how you can compress the sizes of your stream tabs. Go ahead tinker

on it, see how it works.


Let’s get organized You can re-arrange the stream tabs by dragging them on desired order.


Adding a Stream Choose from the options what will be the content of your stream. Let’s say

it would be the home stream. Click ‘Home’ icon.

same as if you are on the main site of your twitter account.

You can also add a filter on your stream or delete all stream. Just click the drop down arrow.

Navigation You can also set the auto refresh time by clicking the drop down button beside the refresh icon. Select your preferred time. This setting will be

applicable to the entire streams of the tab.

Navigation You can rename the tab by click on it. Type a name you

want for it.


Navigation If you want to add a Tab, click the ‘+’ icon beside the first tab.


Navigation Now, if you want to see the profile of someone on the feed. Just

click the name.

Hootsuite got bored I was away from keyboard for several minutes. And this cute owl appeared . Click, ‘Wake up’. If the same thing happened to you.

This is the power of hootsuite. Imagine if you can schedule your

tweets for the rest of the day or days ahead; even if your away from the

computer.

Type your tweet on the text field.


Making posts You can also include a link and put it here. It will generate a short link for

you. It’s good for those lengthy ugly looking URL that can clutter your post

post automatically.

Click the drop down arrow and choose according to your preference.

remove this, depending on you preference. To remove. Click ‘x’

Schedule posts Click the calendar icon to set a time for your tweet.


Schedule tweets Set the date and time you want for hootsuite to post your tweet.

*hootsuite will prompt you to post 5minutes ahead of the current time.

Schedule tweets Hover your mouse over on the text field beside ‘Compose message’. Choose an account where you want the post to appear. Aside from

tweeter you can also post on Facebook, google+, or all the account you integrate into hootsuite. Isn’t that awesome!

In this example, I chose my tweeter and Facebook account and also a Facebook page.

Click ‘Schedule’.

Then, hootsuite will prompt you that message is successfully scheduled.


Checking post To double check. Hover over the left side panel and click ‘Publisher’ icon.

Click the post then you will see the accounts you set this post to be integrated with.

If you hover over the mouse to each of the post. You can see action buttons.



You can edit it by group or delete them by group.



You can also edit and delete post individually by account. Just hover over the post on each account.


Changing Time zone Taking note of the time zone difference is important with regards to your posts. This is

actually by preference, considering the target

audience of your posts. *you should take into

consideration the time most people are tweeting, obviously when most people are awake,

daytime it is.

Click this button.

Then save changes, Click ‘Save Account Info’.


How are your numbers Hootsuite has a built-in Analytics report generator. Hover over the left side

panel and click ‘Analytics’.

Analytics Let’s create one if you do not have any existing report yet.

Click ‘Create one now’.


Analytics A pop-up window will appear for the template options you

can use. Let’s choose ‘Twitter Profile Overview’, Click it.

“virtual assistant”

Setting up Then you will be taken to the report builder dashboard. You can edit and

tweak further. This is a template for a printed output, an example is provided on each field.


Setting up We won’t be digging deep into report builder template. The purpose of this is to see how the report looks online so let’s go ahead and create report.

Then a prompt will pop-up.

From there you can view the report generated.


Contacts

You can also view and organize your contacts. Hover over the left side

panel and click ‘Contacts’


Contacts This is the main dashboard for Contacts. You can view who’s following you and the people

you follow


Let’s get organized On the left side panel. You can view the lists you have created from the

main twitter website. *If you do not have a list/s yet. You can create one inside Hootsuite. Just follow

along.


Creating a list Creating a list inside hootsuite is easy pissy. You

don’t need to go open the main twitter website.

*however if you want to edit them, you can only do so on the main twitter website

Now hover over the left side panel again. Click

‘Streams’ icon.

window. Click ‘Lists’ icon.

Creating a list Type a name for you list. You can also add

a brief description to it.

You can set the privacy of the list. This depends on your preference.

Then save your list. Click ‘Save list’.

Now notice this will be automatically added into your tab as a new stream with the list name on it. *It says “no result found”

meaning there is no feed yet as we haven’t added anyone

to this list.

Let’s go back to the Contacts dashboard. The “foodie” list is now added. We are now ready to add contacts to this list by

just dragging. *There is a tip on how to do it.

Now my ‘Foodie’ stream has a feed. I’ve added a contact with it.

But wait! There’s more! Hootsuite is the holy grail when

it comes to organizing social media feeds, tweeter feeds in

particular.


Streams

Organize your stream by “mentions”.

*By clicking this, the default would be your user name

mention. @(your username). In my case @twistVA.


Streams A stream by ‘mention’ will be added.

Now, why does it says “no results found”? It means, your username has not been mentioned yet in the twitter world (I should be more active; my lame

excuse would be this is a new account )


Streams You can customize added stream by searching particular keywords at the search bar or at the

“add stream’ panel


Streams For example, the word or topic

“#photobomb”. You can add this feed search results by clicking ‘Save

as Stream’.

Then this will be added to your stream tab.

This stream is for all the retweets. Basically it gathers all of the people who retweeted your posts/tweets.

This type of stream is obviously for all of your followers. Click on this

and a feed from all of your followers will be displayed.

This is great for tracking new followers and their tweets even if you don’t

follow them back or they’re not part in one of your lists.

This is for your direct messages. It gathers all direct messages sent to you.

This stream is for all of your favorite tweets. It gathers all the tweets you’ve

marked as favorite.

You can also add a steam of all the scheduled tweet posts you made. Aside

from viewing it from the ‘Publish’ dashboard.


Clutter free Before, hootsuite offers a downloadable desktop application. This removes all the clutter from your web browser like tabs and browser tools. However, this option

is not available anymore. Is there an alternative solution? Luckily Chrome

offers one. *However, this feature is only available for Google Chrome on Windows

and Linux.

Go to ‘Tools’, then click ‘Create application

shortcuts’.


Clutter free This pop-up window will appear, tick or un-

tick the checkboxes. Then click, ‘Create’.


Clutter free The shortcuts now appears on your desktop or taskbar.

Now what does this means?

When you double-click on the hootsuite icon, it opens in a

special streamlined window that doesn't display tabs, buttons, the address bar, or menus. To access common page options,

click the page logo in the top left corner of the window. When you click a redirected link, it will open a different window.


End Isn’t it hootsuite truly is the holy grail of

managing your social media accounts in just one dashboard?
