How to stay happy and productive at the winter months
It’s Winter, it’s freezing, days are smaller, when we wake up it is still dark,
when we go home after work is dark again, everyone around us is sneezing and
coughing, and all we want is to stay at home with blankets and hot chocolate!
But we aren’t cuddly bears, so
we need to go to work
and be productive.
Just because it is Winter, your motivation
doesn’t need to go down.
Here are some
tips to stay on top at the Winter months.
1. Get moving
Before or after work, you can go outside and run a little or join a gym.
Moving your body regularly can reduce stress and improve sleep. If you’re really not the sporty type, don’t worry, a 20 minute
walk can do wonders to your mood.
2. Don’t be a bear
Hibernating from society at Winter may feel good at first, but after a while can
be depressing.
We are social beings, so we need to
talk and be with other people.
So instead of just send emails to your work mates,
get up and go to their
offices to say hello! And after work, get
together for a chat at the
local coffee shop
or favourite pub.
3. Don’t be a penguin
It’s really hard to work when it’s cold in the office, right?
So regulate your office thermostat
to have a comfortable work temperature.
4. Befriend the weatherman
Is it cold? Is it raining? Is it snowing? What am I
going to wear today? Yes, this little morning
drama, especially for the ladies, can make you being late for work.
So, check out the night before for the
weather reports
and choose your outfit for the next day.
If you are prepared, you will be more relaxed the next morning to start a
great day.
5. Break it
Taking a break is great, but at
Winter months don’t take long
breaks, instead opt
for several mini
breaks. This makes your
muscles move and
you’ll feel more
relaxed and focused.
6. Take care
Avoid being sick by taking good
care of yourself.
Take vitamins,
eat well, get moving and wear
warms clothes to
prevent being ill.
7. Chase the sun
If you’re really not a winter person, plan a winter vacation to
somewhere really sunny! A warmer weather trip together with your family or friends will help
recharge batteries, get natural vitamin D from the sun,
and come back full of energy.
Plan, track and relax
