HOW TO SKIP STONES
MASTERING ONE OF LIFE’S SIMPLE PLEASURES
WHAT IS “SKIPPING STONES”?
SKIPPING STONES IS THE ACT OF THROWING A (USUALLY) FLAT STONE INTO A BODY OF WATER IN A MANNER SUCH THAT THE STONE RICOCHETS OFF THE TOP LAYER OF WATER, APPEARING TO “SKIP” ALONG THE WATER’S SURFACE
SKIPPING STONES: A BRIEF HISTORY
• 3719 BC: SUMARIAN JOSEPHUS CLANCY FIRST INVENTED THE PASTIME REALIZING THAT IF A STONE IS THROWN AT THE PROPER ANGLE INTO THE TIGRIS RIVER, IT WOULD SKIP ALONG THE SURFACE INSTEAD OF SINKING
• 12 BC: “DEATH BY STONE SKIPPING” ADDED TO LIST OF APPROVED CAPITAL PUNISHMENTS SANCTIONED BY THE ROMAN EMPIRE
• 1583 AD: A YOUNG BOY NAMED CHRIS COLUMBUS SINKS THE ITALIAN MERCHANT SHIP “THAT’S AMORE” BY SKIPPING A STONE A LITTLE TOO HARD AND FLEES ITALY FOR THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN
• 2007 AD: RUSSELL BYARS SETS A NEW WORLD RECORD FOR STONE SKIPPING (57 SKIPS)

DISCLAIMER/FINAL NOTES
This slide deck was prepared for the Train Like A Champion blog for a post illustrating how a presentation including PowerPoint is not always the most effective method of instruction/skill building.
If for some reason you actually think this slide deck is an effective means of transferring information or building skills, you really should give this blog a quick read.
