Social media is everywhere…

2010 was a huge year for social networking. Services like facebook and twitter saw enormous jumps in their numbers of members.

Twitter now claims to have 175 registered users. Twitter has also recently announced that its adding 15 million new users per month.

Facebook has seen amazing growth in the past 12 months with now over 640 million users. The site has now overtaken Google as the no 1 site visited on the web globally!

The ever-increasing social network presents a never before seen opportunity for individuals to share

information across a wide platform instantaneously.

That’s all very good news for consumers and for sites like DavesBillboard.com!

It means that an ad placed at our site can be shared with literally millions of potential buyers or consumers at the touch of a button.

But sharing an ad isn’t the only advantage to joining the social network.

The first thing you need to do is visit our facebook page

and “like us”.

Every page at DavesBillboard has a link at the bottom to our facebook page – just click the “Find us on Facebook” button.

If you’d rather go directly to our facebook page, it’s easy – just type in the address bar of your web browser:

When our official page opens up, look for the like button next to our name.

Click the button and you’re now a follower of our official facebook page!

From our main page you can contact us and say “hi”, leave us a note, post a photo, post a link you may think interests us, or even post video to our page.

Once you post on our page, your note or link is visible to all the other members of our official

page.

We also will post any company news, offers and announcements to our facebook wall.

As soon as we post a message or link to our wall, that message is also sent to your personal facebook profile.

Sharing an ad from DavesBillboard

Every billboard posted at DavesBillboard features a link to “share this billboard” at the bottom of the ad.

Always included in the list of icons is a facebook link, email link (email the ad to yourself or a friend), twitter link, and a “make a favorite page” or bookmark link.

Posting an ad to facebook

For this “How To” we’re going to focus on sharing a billboard on facebook.

When you find a billboard that interests you and that you’d like to share with someone, click the facebook logo in the bar at the

bottom of the ad.

***You can share anyone’s billboard – it does not have to be your own ad for you to share it.

Clicking the “f” allows a popup from facebook to appear.

If you are not currently signed in to your facebook account you will be given an opportunity to Log In on this popup.

Specifying where you want to post, adding a note, editing the thumbnail photo accompanying your post.

No. 1 - At the top of the window select where you’d like to post this. You can choose your wall, a friend’s wall, a group or by private message.

No. 2 - Add a note to your post. For instance you might want to say “Check out this great item I found on DavesBillboard!”

No. 3 – The title of the billboard and the first few lines of the ad are automatically transferred to your post.

**If for any reason you’d like to edit the description, click the text and the description will highlight itself. Just start typing and your text will replace the original description text.

No. 4 – Choose the thumbnail photo that will accompany your ad when it’s posted. Just click the right arrow if you’d like to change the image.

If you’d like you can choose not to show an image by checking the “No Thumbnail” box.

No. 5 – Specify who can see your post. You have the ability to allow anyone who visits your page to see, just friends, friends of friends, or you can customize to include only certain people.

To finish sharing your billboard, just click Share Link at the bottom of the

window.

Whoever you’ve chosen to make the ad visible to will have the ability to

comment or like your post. When that happens, you will be notified on your wall that someone has commented

on your share.

You’ve now made that billboard visible to not only anyone who visits DavesBillboard, but also anyone who visits your facebook wall or the friend’s wall

where you posted the link.

All they have to do is click that link and the original billboard will open up in their browser.

It’s a great way to share information and to get increased exposure for all your ads!
