Remove any dirt, sand down splinters and nail down protruding nails. Make a wood shelf that fits between the planks of the pallet to support the plants and potting soil. Create your wood shelf by using a piece of lumber cut to size. Sand the surface completely smooth. 2. PAINT: Shake your can of Chalkboard Spray Paint for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the can 12-16” from the pallet and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart. Tip: We recommend priming bare wood surfaces with a good multi-purpose primer like BullsEye 1-2-3 prior to painting. 3. DRY: Allow paint to dry for at least 24 hours. Once it’s dry, condition the chalkboard by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the entire area and wiping it clean with a dry cloth or chalkboard eraser. 4. BOX LINER: Line the inside of the garden boxes using thick plastic and landscape fabric. This helps hold soil in and create a moisture barrier for the wood. 5. MOUNT THE PALLET 6. FINISH: Plant your desired plants of choice inside the various levels of your garden. Use the chalk marker to note the plants you’re potting. Tips: Use plants that are size appropriate for a smaller garden. Choose pallet wood that is not made from pressure treated lumber. Pressure treated lumber may contain chemicals that contaminate plants grown for consumption.
