There are tons of amazing things about Facebook... and then there are the not-so-stellar aspects.Fortunately, many of those irritating additions can be made to disappear with the click of a mouse!

Perhaps the most aggravating Facebook facet is the plethora of spam that often appears on the newsfeed. Games, applications, and those annoying acquaintances you only added as friends because youfelt guilty clicking ignore produce a plethora of pointless posts. Farmville... Yoville... Sorority Life...It seems like there are at least a million variations out there and every single person who plays theminsists on broadcasting every accomplishment to their entire social networking circle.

Maybe you don't want to adopt your cousin Zoe's zany zebra in "Zoo Paradise" because with twodogs and a cat your house is already enough of a zoo! Likewise, you aren't interested in helping yoursister Sarah search for a set of red shoes for her hot date in "Sorority Life." After all you were nevereven in a sorority and Sarah would probably be better off if she logged off Facebook and found a realdate on Friday night... no need to encourage her anti-social antics.

While your at it, why not get rid of yourcousin's Gemini Horoscope that appears onyour news feed every day at 8 am. Whocares about Gemini's Horoscope... You arean Aquarius!

If you are tired of the extensive screenscroll produced by these applications,blocking them is as easy as clicking abutton. First, mouse over one of the postsfrom an offending friend or application. Abutton that says Hide will appear. Uponclicking hide, a menu will pop up givingyou a chance to select from three

wonderful options.

The first option Facebook offers you is to Block By clicking this not only are you blocking your auntAgatha's aggravating "Adventure Island" spam, you are blocking all of her posts. This option is greatfor those girls who were mean to you in high school but suddenly decide to be your Facebookfriends, or that chick who constantly posts abysmally depressing statuses and ruins your day. Theywill never know you hid their posts, so if you find someone has very little worthwhile to share, goahead! Click the Block button!

The second option is perfect for the aforementioned application spam. The Hide button willeffectively stop that specific application from posting to your wall. Not just when one of your friendsuses the application... when ANY of your friends use that application. Use this option and "MafiaWars" woe will be gone! Once again, none of your friends will be aware that you've exercised thispower over their posts so they can't even get mad that you failed to help them track down a fuzzydice and a boxing ring.

The third and final option is rather obvious. Lest you mistakenly click Hide on the love-of-your-life'sstatus, this option enables you to quickly click cancel. For you mis-clickers out there this can be areal life saver.
