The resort is set in on a gradually sloping hill surrounded by Chiang Rai’s untouched vegetation and has emerged as a leading eco- friendly accommodation, offering guests a much needed break from the confines of city life. The cottages are built completely from bamboo, terracotta clay, and thatched roof, all locally acquired. The resort also supports the local community by employing local villagers and hill tribes. The resort kitchen provides carefully prepared Thai lacto-vegetarian meals twice daily, which are moderately spiced. In 1969, Swami Vishnudevananda, founder of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, taught the first Yoga Teachers’ Training Course in the West. Today, this internationally renowned course is taught by his senior disciples. Its graduates number over 26,000. The four week intensive course covers practical, theoretical and philosophi-cal aspects of yoga. The approach to teaching is personal, focusing on the individual student. Upon graduation, students receive the Certificate of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres,entitled Yoga Siromani.
