How to do the Gizmos

• The exploration guides will walk your through the controls and make the learning better.

1. Use the exploration guides to work through the lab simulations

(most will require Shockwave).

2. Submit the exploration guide through your course.

3. Then answer the 5 online assessment questions below the gizmo

simulation and take a screen shot of the results page.

4. Your instructor will be able to view your assessment scores online;

however, by sending a copy you increase the speed with which your

instructor can add them to the gradebook.

5. Gizmos have 3 required sections:

The Exploration Guide (80%),

The Vocabulary terms at the beginning of every gizmo (10%),

and a five question Gizmo Quiz (10%).

Please be sure to complete all three sections prior to

submitting your Exploration Guide.

Current – the flow of electrical charge.

Energy consumption – the amount of energy that is used.

Fluorescent lamp – a light source that consists of a glass tube coated with phosphor and filled with argon and another inert gas.

Halogen lamp – a type of incandescent lamp in which the tungsten filament is encased in a capsule containing a mixture of gases that allow it to operate at a high temperature.

Incandescent lamp – a standard light bulb.
