How to Coach on What Isn't Your Area Of Expertise

Page 2: How To Coach On What Isn't Your Area Of Expertise

In this post I'm going to show how to coach on what isn't your area of expertise. The reason I'm going to be teaching on this topic is because, when first starting your coaching program you might not know everything.

You most likely don't. The reason I say that is because information marketing coaches sometimes think they can be everything to everybody.

It's really more effective to teach your coaching clients on what you have learned from others. If you learn from other training and coaching styles , people can add some of those structures into their business but It has to be unique for the challenges they are helping with.

With that being said, marketers, in my opinion, should get top level expertise in something other coaches in that niche are not teaching.

Maybe information marketers can create creative ideas to make certain subtopics better then they do. That's why I say, people are not the best at everything.

They are best at a few things and what they do, you can do better and go deeper. Find out what other coaches are doing in a wider niche and dig in.

Now, since there are so many related topics might need help with, and especially starting a new coaching program, you might need to find out how to help people that you know nothing or little about.

It can really frustrate you, make you feel you aren't good enough or believe you can't deliver. You might want to quit but quitting brings on nothing but failure.

You can't take time off, take vacations, live your dreams and have more time to do whatever you have a passion to do.

Don't keep yourself in the old mentality of feeling comfortable doing what you already do. You see, it takes time for people to get used to doing something new.

People have to do it over and over again because our minds have to get used to doing something new. It's always want to stay the same. It always wants to be comfortable doing the same thing.

So have repetition and do some coaching as much as you can and eventually you will feel more comfortable.

But for now what you can do is getting used to helping people outside your niche and getting used to having that uncomfortable feeling of doing something new.

Get used to talking to people, this could be interacting exclusively through email and start there if that make you feel more comfortable.

There's no interaction with that model. You can actually find the answer if you don't know it and get back to them.

But doing one on one coaching is usually the most lucrative part of a business. If you're doing a one on one, here's some things you can do to help people even if it's not your expertise.

Ok, what if one of your clients asks, how can I help get better at loosing weight.

You don't know anything about loosing weight. You have never read any books on it. You have never had a friend that was loosing weight.

You have never tried to loose weight. What you can do is ask some questions to help understand their problem with loosing weight.

Understand why they want to loose weight.

How they want to loose weight.

Maybe what do they already know about loosing weight.

You might not know the best actions to advise on but what you also need to do, after asking important questions is show them where to get the information to solve their problem.

Now people might ask themselves, why should I get coaching from somebody that doesn't know anything on the topic?

Well, it's all about implementation. Why do you think so many people, every year read so many books and still haven't reached their goals?

It's all about helping them stay on track. Helping them step by stem and making sure they do all the steps necessary to achieve how many pounds they want to loose for a certain time period.

You know how to come up with creative ideas in your area of expertise. Give them some creative ideas in theirs.

Make sure you get results like you do in your area of expertise. Teach them how to take action on what they've learned or know. Not only that but also on how to take action on what they don't know.

Nobody should be coaching at a price they are not worth but if people can teach on things that they went through in their lives, it's a lot easier.

But don't let anything hold you back. It takes time to start coaching people with different challenges. You might start off at a lower price and raise it if when you get more experience.

One thing for sure to add to this. While you might be coaching on topics you hardly have expertise in, you'll be learning, getting more comfortable with what you do and create a real income most people are not willing to do.

Now remember, you can raise prices and lower them at any time. It might depend on how much time you have at the time.

Maybe you want to limit your coaching and raise your prices. Maybe you want more clients and lower your prices. It's your business. You are not accountable to anybody.
