Classic Indian Rummy:

Classic Indian Rummy is a card game which is slightly different than the Original

Rummy game.

Classic Indian Rummy is otherwise called as “Paplu”.

It is also believed that Indian Rummy is evolved from a game that was played in South

Asia, quite similar to that of today’s Indian Rummy called “Celebes Rummy” or

“Rhuk”.

It is usually considered as a cross between Rummy 500 and Gin Rummy.

Since rummy has been declared as a game of skill, so it has been excluded from the

laws that prohibits betting and gambling.

Indian classic rummy is played with 13 cards with or without a joker (wild card).

The procedure to play the game of Classic Indian Rummy has been described in the

next slide.

How to Start the Game?

After Signing into the PokaBunga account, click on the “Play Rummy” tab, and then

either click on the “Fun Games” or go for the “Cash Games” and then choose any of the

game from the “Lobby”

In lobby you could see three more options “Points”, “Pools” & “Best of n”.

Lets start with the “Points“ Game at first.

POINTS GAME:

•Usually played with minimum number of 2 players and maximum number of 6 players.

•Points Rummy is a Deal to Deal settlement kind of game, which means players have the

freedom to join and leave the game between the deals.

•Can be played with or without a Joker (wild card), which is randomly selected from the

closed deck and placed under the closed deck.

N.B.: If the printed joker gets selected as the wild card joker, then Ace with all suits can be

treated as the wild Card Joker for that deal.

•If a player gets disconnected in the middle of the game, the system waits for 45sec for

him to get connected, this would happen for 2 times, but still if the player is not able to

connect, then his/her hand will be dropped, which is treated as the middle drop.

•Points for middle drop is (40) and Points for Normal Drop before starting the game play

(20).

•Once a Player finishes the game and declares the show, the opponent player is also asked

to declare his/her show by arranging the cards in perfect melds that would lower the

points. The points of the player who lost the game multiplied with the point value of the

table would be deducted from the loosing player.

•Eg: If a player has 32 points and the point of the table is 15, then an amount of Rs 480

would be deducted from the players account.

•The winning Player would win the amount, ie (Total amount of the opponent players -Rake amount)

Rules For Playing the Game

Before the game begins, the system makes a toss with the cards and as per the toss

the player with the highest value of card gets the chance to play at first.

Page 7: How to Classic Indian Rummy

After the dealing of the cards, the system ask the players to sort their cards in to meld,

though it is not mandatory but sorting of cards into meld makes the game a bit easier.

Page 8: How to Classic Indian Rummy

The game play makes an anti-clock wise movement, and every player gets a time of 45

seconds + additional time of 15 seconds to make his/her move.

Within these 60 seconds the player have to pick up a card either from the discarded cards

(open deck) or from the closed deck and have to discard a card from his cards.

The possible melds that a player can make to declare the show are as follows:

• Pure Meld: Cards having same suits and consecutive rankings.

For Eg:

• Triplets: Cards having different suits but same rankings.

For Eg:

Page 9: How to Classic Indian Rummy

• Impure Meld: This meld consists of a wild card (Joker card). Let us assume the Joker

card to be the Spade 3.

• Then we can consider all the cards having the same rank but different suits to be the

Joker Card. For Eg:

Including the

Spade 3 Card.

• Those cards can be used in the Pure Meld and Triplets to complete the Meld.

For Eg:

Page 10: How to Classic Indian Rummy

Or For Eg:

PokaBunga follows a liberal rule for melding of cards, ie. First a Pure Meld is must to

start the use of the Wild Cards. And the 2nd meld should also be in the form of Pure Meld ,

but here the players have the liberty to use the wildcard if they want. For Eg:

After those melds the player could make triplets or use wildcards to make triplets, though

having a triplet is not mandatory to declare the show.

Page 11: How to Classic Indian Rummy

An example of melding the cards as done by a player. A pure meld and an impure meld

is present, and the rest cards are not in a meld thus the total points in this case would be 58.

Page 12: How to Classic Indian Rummy

This image shows the way the card has been selected for discarding. And an option

“Finish” present at the bottom that allows the player to declare the show. To declare the

show a player has to meld the cards and select a card that he/she wants to discard, but

without clicking on “Discard” the players have to click on “Finish” that automatically

discards the selected card and ask for the player’s permission to declare the show.

Page 13: How to Classic Indian Rummy

The Points here in this case after making and remaking melds is 26.

Page 14: How to Classic Indian Rummy

The final Score, after a player declares the show. Here the total amount won by the

winner is [(24+26)-Rake amount].
