Look at your roof after a snow Does the snow stay for a while or melt away quickly ?

Vacant house - no melted snow here

No melted snow here…they haveattic insulation.

The insulation in the vaulted ceiling may not have been installed properly; it is only partially working.

Notice how the snow is still on the front porch roof…I will talk to you about this in slide 4.

More roof examplesMelted snow here…no insulation or not enough

Notice how straight the snow line is on the roof eaves.

The heat from the first or second floor rises to the roof rafters and melts the snow quickly.

More roof examplesSome of the insulation is working between the 2x ro of rafters

These lines are the 2x roof rafters, which are transferring the heat to the roof. Some of the insulation is

working and some may not have been installed properly.

Notice how straight the snow line is on the roof eaves.

No insulation here…the roof was wet from the melting snow.

My theory…the knee wall in the second floor has no insulation and the heat is transferring to the porch roof and melting the snow.

Notice how the snow is melted over the front porch roof…it should not melt because it is over an exterior space.

The snow is still on the front porch

More roof examplesThese attics have insulation

My personal that home I sold over two years ago…I installed loose insulation in the attic.

The snow is still on the front porch and the second floor roof.

Icynene Insulation System (http://www.icynene.com ) was installed on the vaulted ceiling during construction of this new home.
