How God May Have Parted the Red SeaBy Comparing Scripture with Scripture

ByMarshall J Karp

1. The Ordinary WorldIt was a stressful time and my sleep suffers during stressful times. The only way I can get back to sleep is by getting up, reading the Bible, and praying. Stressful times like these are where I read the Psalms as they focus my thoughts and heart on the Lord and bring me peace of mind. There is no particular order to me reading the Psalms, it is merely flipping the Bible open to the middle and reading wherever I am at. My focus becomes that God is the Creator and Sustainer of everything, He is in control, He loves me, and He will work out and through everything.

2. The Call to AdventureI had read and known about Moses parting the Red Sea since I was young and learning the Bible stories in Hebrew school and Sunday School. I often wondered how God did it and just chalked the event up as a miracle. God spoke the universe into existence, Jesus walked on water, and God could have just opened the Red Sea to the children of Israel during the Exodus from Egypt.

No real or further explanation was necessary as this could just be taken by faith, God wanted the Red Sea to part and open as a way of escape for the Jews and as a terrible weapon to use against the Pharaoh and his Egyptian army.

The Call came on a stressful and sleepless night when I just flipped open the middle of the Bible to Psalms 77:

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

This caught me here. He’s talking to the Jews as the Jews require a sign and wonder to believe on the Messiah of Israel.

15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

Jesus is the arm of God as he sits at the right hand of the Father, who redeems and delivers. The twelve tribes of Israel descend from Jacob and Joseph is who led the children of Jacob, Israel, into Egypt.

16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

Page 2: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

17 The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.18 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

These verses talk about the parting of the Red Sea by Moses. The visualization that one gets is from the 10 Commandments movie and Moses spreading his arms to part the Red Sea.

It appears there were more celestial events going on than the Red Sea parting. There was great water turbulence, torrential rain, a piercing sound from the sky, electrical discharge effect/phenomenon, thunder, lightening, and earthquakes. There was something happening in the sky and in the water that preceded the parting of the water. The thought occurred to me, this is a complete description of the entire event.

The Exodus story goes on with:

Exodus 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Exodus 14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

After the Red Sea parted, perhaps 600,000 men, women, children, animals, and their belongings walked down the dry shore, walked across the dry water bed, and walked up the far shore into the Mt. Sinai region. Oh, and they did all this walking on dry ground, with the waters as a wall to the right and left.

The thought occurred to me, there were real world extreme meteorological and geographical forces occurring. So, what real world physical processes did God use to bring about the parting of the Red Sea?

3. Refusal of The CallNo, wait, it can’t be a physical world explanation, it has to be a supernatural explanation. God could have merely spoke and the waters would have parted or an uncountable number of holy angels were dispatched to act as angelic sandbags to hold back the water on both sides, or something. These could have happened and my thought stopped there.

4. Meeting with the Mentor

I read Douglas Elwell’s Planet X and The Sign of the Son of Man and The End of the Age, which details, the possibility that a massive planet moves into and out of our solar system every two thousand years. This Planet X heralded the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and will be his war chariot at his second coming. Also, Planet X has had significant effects with shaping life on earth and planetary orbits. Yes, God could have spoken and everything could have happened, but God may have well used and orchestrated the Creation and Second Coming by this real world physical means.

If there was a real world physical means used and orchestrated by God for creation and the Second coming, maybe there could be a real world physical means to part the Red Sea waters.

5. Crossing the Threshold

First, I prayed for God to show me. Next, I read and re-read the Exodus accounts. The Bible scriptures have three meanings, there is a prophetic meaning pointing to the Second Coming of the Lord, there is a personal application meaning pointing to every word is for our moment by moment daily lives, and it is a history book. It is actual recorded history of real events. These things really happened and were recorded by real people.

I will take the Word of God at its history meaning and see what I could do.

6. Tests, Allies, and Enemies

I am not a scientist. I have read the Bible eight times through and I know how to compare scripture with scripture to reveal truth. Also, I am keenly aware of news and media scientific and archeological articles which confirm and support the biblical accounts.

Unfortunately, if you google Parting the Red Sea, you get scientific explanations of the water freezing, so the Jews walked on ice. This is sort of hard to believe as it appears that every man, women, and child all apparently crossed in one night. The water freezing solid enough to support maybe 600,000 Jews in one night and drowning Pharaoh’s army the next day is hard imagine.

The other explanation is they crossed at a shallow point and the wind blew the water out of the way. Not a real miracle and this does not explain how Pharaoh’s army drowned in the shallows.

As I said, these are prevailing scientific explanations. The points that need to be addressed are:

a. How did the waters part?

Page 4: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

b. How was the sea bed dry land?c. What was the meteorological events and how did they tie in?d. How were the waters as a wall, maybe hundreds of feet high, on each side?e. How did the water walls collapse, trapping and drowning Pharaoh and his Army?

And, all this explained as real world physical tools as utilized by the Almighty God of this Universe. Quite a tall order for a non-scientist, but here goes.

7. Approach

My approach was to compare biblical accounts with biblical accounts, scripture with scripture, and google what I do not know and understand. This seems to work before for me, so this was my biggest challenge to date.

8. The Ordeal

Here is the Exodus 14 account with my commentary:

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

God will do something remarkable and supernatural to save the Jews.

15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Here is God telling Moses what he will do. Moses is to lift his rod and stretch out his hand, God will divide the Red Sea, and the Jews will go through where the Red Sea just parted on dry land.

17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

Page 5: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

Here God tells Moses that the Egyptians will follow them into the now parted Red Sea.

21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

This is the main account of God causing the Red Sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night which mad the dry land. As for the “East Wind”, it appears the winds are controlled by four angels stationed at the compass points on the earth:

Revelation 7:1And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

The East Wind characteristics are linked to blistering heat and destruction, as these example references show:

Genesis 41:6And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

Ezekiel 17:10Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.

Jonah 4:8And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

And other scripture references. Why east, the sun rises in the east, but more about that later.

Page 6: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

How can the water be a wall on each side of the Children of Israel. My first thought was supercooling by the wind to form window like ice walls, except this is the east wind, with blistering heat. No, the walls of water were not ice walls. Dead end.

How about superheating the water? No, superheating the water would have produced steam. There is the The Leidenfrost effect would produces a vapor layer around a molten object, but the superheating would not be a safe way of passage for human kind. No, the Red Sea was not parted by extreme heat.

I was stuck here for a long time. What parted the Red Sea, made the walls of water, and 600,000 people walked between them?

26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

Moses stretched forth his hand, again, and the Red Sea closed on the trapped Egyptians. The miracle started with Moses stretching out his hand and ended with Moses stretching out his hand. God used these gestures as the timeframe for the event.

28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

Page 7: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Here it is again as emphasis, the Jews walked on dry land and the waters were a wall on each side of them. Extreme superheat and supercold would not do this.

I toyed with a tornado but internet research showed that most, though not all, move from the northeast and west to east. Also, tornadoes or whirlwinds come from the south and bring destruction:

Proverbs 1:27

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

Jerimiah 30:23

Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.

Job 37:9

Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.

No to tornadoes, wrong direction and temperature. But, what about the eye of a hurricane? A hurricane is a storm system that must be weathered for the eye to envelope. There is no mention of a morning to morning superstorm.

God saved the Jews from death and forcible return to Egypt. The battle, victory, and glory belong to the Lord.

30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

Page 8: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

Two things I do not know at this point. First, the exact location of the crossing. I have read it could be anywhere to the north or south of the Red Sea. Topological maps do show a sea-wide mainly steep drop off to over a thousand feet of depth and a steep climb. There is a southern point with a more gradual decline and a several hundred foot depth rating.

There is also the possible finding of the remains of the chariots and that would be more to the northern point. However, location was not something that I was concerned with.

The second thing that I did not know at this point was what established the walls of water? Heat or cold did not do it. I wondered if there was some other real world way to attribute this to. Turns out there was.

9. The Reward

I do know that there are other unseen hidden forces in this universe that God has created. There are cosmic rays, x-rays, infrared light, ultraviolet light, radio waves, television signals, cellphone signals, gravity, and there is magnetism. During my internet research, I came across the Moses Effect, which is straight line parting of water in a container due to an induced strong magnetic field:

Shoogo Ueno and Masakazu Iwasaka of the University of Tokyo first had the audacity to mimic Moses back in 1994, albeit on a scale somewhat less than biblical. Their Red Sea was a simple horizontal tube filled halfway with water and enveloped by a coil of superconducting wire. There was no raising of hands, or slaughtering of lambs, or even praying. They just plugged in the coil. Electrical currents swirled, a magnetic field filled the tube, and the water fled from the centre into the ends, leaving a bone-dry gap in the middle.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg15520925-700-and-god-said-let-there-be-levitating-strawberries/

Water is diamagnetic, which means the molecules are repelled by super magnets. Translation: water parts down the middle in the presence of a super magnetic field. The stronger the magnetic field, the greater the effect.

Also, there is more than just water in the Red Sea. The Red Sea is one of the saltiest bodies of water on earth. Salt is diamagnetic, which means it adds to the saltwater repellant effect of a super magnetic field.

Page 9: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

So, just where did the magnetic field come from? There are articles reporting magnetic anomalies across the Red Sea. This is as of the present, though, and the parting of the waters has not repeated itself. What about during that night of the Exodus, though?

Remember back to Psalms 77:

16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

The east wind was raging while the waters were stirred violently, even down to the deep waters. The deepest point in the Red Sea is the Atlantis II Deep trench below 7,000 feet deep.

17 The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.18 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

Something was going on the first heaven. There was a terrible storm overhead.

Plasma physicist Jack Scudder of the University of Iowa explains, "They're places where the magnetic field of Earth connects to the magnetic field of the Sun, creating an uninterrupted path leading from our own planet to the sun's atmosphere 93 million miles away." Observations by NASA's THEMIS spacecraft and Europe's Cluster probes suggest that these magnetic portals open and close dozens of times each day. They're typically located a few tens of thousands of kilometers from Earth where the geomagnetic field meets the onrushing solar wind. Most portals are small and short-lived; others are yawning, vast, and sustained. Tons of energetic particles can flow through the openings, heating Earth's upper atmosphere and sparking geomagnetic storms.

https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/sunearth/news/mag-portals.html

The magnetic field that parted the Red Sea came from above. It came from the Sun. A true miracle orchestrated by our God and timed to Moses raising his arms to start and stop commands.

So, the east wind was the leading edge of the oncoming solar storm, the Sun’s and Earth’s connected geomagnetic storm hit the Red Sea and the super strong magnetic field repelled (parted) the diamagnetic saltwater, even driving out the water right down to the sea floor level. The water walls could have been several hundred to over a thousand feet high on each side of the children of Israel. What an amazing sight.

As for the danger to the humans, remember this was a geomagnetic storm, not a solar radiation storm:

Page 10: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

Scientists at Tomsk State University (TSU) are studying how magnetic storms impact human health, as well as the functioning of different electronic devices, and the Earth's ecology. These storms, which can last from several hours to several days, occur when the Earth's geomagnetic field reacts to solar rays.

The Altai experiments show that indicators of bioelectrical activity in the human brain change considerably when entering an area with a disturbed magnetic field. Electrical pulses are used to transmit signals between brain neurons, and violations of this process are reflected in one's health. However, people do not experience any unusual sensations, and generally do not notice anything.

http://rbth.com/science_and_tech/2016/07/08/the-truth-on-magnetic-storms-and-our-health_609983

So, the children of Israel and the Egyptians could have survived the magnetic storm areas unscathed.

As for the time frame, all this occurred from morning to morning:

Exodus 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

Exodus 14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

10.The Road Back

Here is the short version of how God may have parted the Red Sea:

a. Exodus14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

b. A magnetic field ejection occurs from the sunc. The sun’s magnetic field connects to the earth’s magnetic fieldd. The blistering east wind signals the oncoming magnetic storm that nighte. In the morning, Moses lifts his rod and stretches out his hand over the Red Seaf. At that precise moment, the sustained geomagnetic storm hits the areag. An upper atmosphere storm rages causing unearthly sounds, lightning, thunder,

rains, and earthquakes at ground levelh. The Red Sea parts due to the diamagnetic saltwater being repelled by the solar

and earth connected powerful geomagnetic fieldi. The children of Israel start the crossing

Page 11: How God May Have Parted the Red Sea

j. Even the diamagnetic water from the sea floor has been repelled and they walk on dry ground

k. The magnetically repelled saltwater is pulled back to the left and right to form walls (The Moses Effect).

l. The Egyptians start the crossingm. The Israelite crossing of the Red Sea has completed by morningn. Moses stretches out his hand signaling the end of the crossing event and the

closing of the Red Seao. The geomagnetic storm abruptly endsp. The walls of water collapse as normal cascading water hundreds of feet highq. The Egyptians are too far in and down hundreds of feet below the sea levelr. The Egyptians are trapped and drowns. Exodus14:30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the

Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

There you have it. What a miracle. To God be the glory. Amen.
