ST MARY STAR OF THE SEA
PARISH
THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
NOVEMBER 8TH, 2015
Mission Statement
We the people of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish in Ocean City,
Maryland, want to respond to God’s love for us by doing His will, to
live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to love each other as Jesus
loved us. In this way, He can live, as Risen Lord, in our midst and attract all
people to the Father. As part of the Church, we want to be a “Home and School of
Communion” where, through the celebration and living out the Sacraments, and
various ministries, each member can live in unity as a child of God, building up the
Kingdom of God until Jesus will come again in glory.
MASS SCHEDULE
ST. MARY STAR OF THE SEA CHURCH CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1ST
HOLY SAVIOR CHURCH EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1ST: SUNDAY AT 7:00AM, 8:30AM & 10AM MONDAY – THURSDAY AT 8:30AM SATURDAY VIGIL AT 5:15PM CONFESSIONS AT 4:15-5:00PM
Dear friends and parishioners, We continue our journey as disciples of Jesus and our journey intensifies a bit as we approach the end of this Liturgical year. This week we see Jesus in the Temple area. He’s in the treasure room and starts to observe people as they deposit their money for the maintenance and charity works of the Temple. Since donations were public, for the well-off this could be a good opportunity to show off; it became a source of humiliation for those who had little to offer. Among the people, Jesus observed a widow who also made an offer. The Master called his disciples to him and asked them to notice that the woman had put into the treasury all she had to live: she gave, not from her surplus but from her livelihood. We also are called to share not only what we have, what we know and what we can do, but also, and especially, who we are. We are a gift to each other! And we can bring the gifts that God has given us to enrich others, no matter who the other is. At the same time, we can see that each person we encounter is there to enrich us. We want to be like water that as long as it keeps flowing keeps every plant "alive"; if it stops, everything stops and rots. Everything becomes brighter and better when it is touched by a generous heart.
“That they may all be one” (Jn 17:21)
I would like to thank all the members of Social Concerns Committee and Liturgy Committee for organizing the Celebration of All Souls which we had on Nov 2
nd. Once again, your ministry
and contribution allowed us to have a wonderful and meaningful celebration for our beloved de-parted ones. Thank you! I’d like to let you know that the “old” rectory has been demolished. This is the first step towards a full work of repairs and rebuilding that are part of our Capital Campaign. I am confident that St Mary Star of the sea Church will be even more beautiful than it is now.

On the weekend of November 21st & 22nd our second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This campaign re-sponds directly to the call of Pope Francis by directly address the root
causes of poverty in the United States. By giving a hand up, rather than a handout, CCHD helps people living in poverty join together and identify problems, make decisions, and find ways to improve their lives and neighborhoods. Your support will help to end poverty through building solidarity in our communities.
THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Sharing the Gospel God wants us to be humble, and he wants us to share our blessings. So many people Jesus met were proud, and they thought they deserved special treatment. Other people were rich, but they took what they wanted first and gave God what was left. The poor widow in today's Gospel got it right. She quietly gave to God all she had. Prayer Dear God, help me to quietly give you the best of all that you have given me. Something to Draw Draw a picture of the poor widow who trusted God with her whole heart. Mission for the Week If you have a piggy bank, take money out and give it to God next Sunday. Shhhh! Remember to give it to God quietly. ©2008 - PO Box 510817, New Berlin, WI 53151-0817 - 1-800-950-9952 x2469 - LPiResourceCenter.com
THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
From the desk of Mark J. Record, Principal…
Red Ribbon Week is a week that has been celebrated over the last 30 years in our country in many schools. It is a time that we teach our youth to say NO to drugs and alcohol and YES to healthy lifestyles. Students signed a class pledge to show their dedication to living a healthy lifestyle, and drug free. Students brought in artwork and coloring pages with the theme, “Respect Yourself- Live Drug Free”. I CAN Pray Day – Students brought in canned goods to
kick off our season of giving during our Red Ribbon
Week. We all CAN help others and respect life! I am
always impressed when we ask our families to donate
canned goods. We will hold a service project in
November for the Seton Center. The cans collected this
week will go to the Seton Center in November.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the
following Knights of Columbus: Mr. Ed Nichols, Mr. Dan
Mahalison, Mr. Jim Crabil, Mr. Wayne Straight, Mr. Vito
Potenza and Mr. Joe Hook. Our Soccer Shootout was a
huge success because of the hard work, dedication and
cooperation of these fine gentlemen.
In commemoration of Veteran’s day (November 11th) and
to honor all those men and women who have served our
country, our school is collecting names of family
members who have served in the armed forces of our
nation. Names will be displayed on a bulletin board in our
cafeteria and in the school lobby. Our bulletin board and
lobby will be displayed throughout the month of
November.
