Our Central Idea :

In developing communities not

everyone has a secure shelter.

Lines of Inquiry:

The reasons why people don’t have adequate

houses in Peru.

The ways houses can be improved in developing

areas.

Our social responsibility regarding this problem.

What is a secure shelter?

Definitions –

“Secure (adj.) safe from danger.”

“Shelter (noun) a place that protects you from

bad weather or danger.”

Causes:

Expensive to buy or rent.

Natural disasters cause damage.

Not everyone has titles of property.

What does the term “invasions” mean?

People that use land they don´t own, to build a

house.

Why do invasions happen in

Peru?

Lack of jobs where they live move to Lima.

Made with minimal resources - not always secure and

adequate

What materials are needed to build a small

4x4 shelter ?

The usual materials for a house 4x4 m are:

Concrete, stone trench, bricks, wire, nails and cement.

Perú en el año 2005 - 3 casas en Ventanilla.

2 días para construir una casa –

Día 1 = Piso

Día 2 = Elevación de paredes

3.086 viviendas construidas ahora.

En Lima ayudan a: Ventanilla, Puente

Piedra, Caravayllo, San Juan de Miraflores y

San Juan de Lurigancho.

En el Perú ayudan a :Huaraz e Ica

La persona que compra la casa aporta alrededor

del 10% del costo de la vivienda.

Conclusions- $$$$$$$

- Many people migrate to Lima looking for better

lifestyles and can´t afford housing.

- It´s expensive to live in safer, more attractive

zones.

- You need a good job to get a loan from the bank.

- If you don´t own land or earn at least s/600 a

month the government can´t help you!
