Why not mountain bikes?

Page 2: Horse trail1

Brecksville Reservation…

Page 3: Horse trail1

…just South of the stables on Meadows Dr.

Page 4: Horse trail1

The trail is nice, but a little soft in places.

Page 5: Horse trail1

Looking back at one point, the trail was pretty solid.

Page 6: Horse trail1

Green dots indicate route. Trail marker is visible on the tree.

Page 7: Horse trail1

A little farther along, though, it gets pretty soft…

Page 8: Horse trail1

…and people alter the route to avoid the mud.

Page 9: Horse trail1

I had to step back a bit to take in the entire expanse of the trail.

Page 10: Horse trail1

The yellow markers in the picture show the width… look far right

Page 11: Horse trail1

This is a tough spot to build a trail on… water runoff cuts right across.

Page 12: Horse trail1

It just doesn’t drain well. It is quite flat.

Page 13: Horse trail1

For reference, note this piece of wood…

Page 14: Horse trail1

This section really could use some reinforcement, or a seasonal closure.

Page 15: Horse trail1

There were several other instances of ground too soft to support a horse.

Page 16: Horse trail1

This sign seemed ironic considering the conditions of the

man-made trail in the area.

Page 17: Horse trail1

Farther along there is a big hill down into the valley.

Page 18: Horse trail1

…pretty good use of a double switchback.

Page 19: Horse trail1

Past the second switchback it finds another bad spot.

Page 20: Horse trail1

Looking back you can see how steep the grade is.

Page 21: Horse trail1

This may not be the best place to build a horse trail.

Page 22: Horse trail1

Further down the hill is another tough spot.

Page 23: Horse trail1

Again, the trail widening is uncontrolled as people avoid the mud.

More tough spots with mud.
