Jun 6, Wed – Tour $6 Million Renovated Tampa Theatre @ $14 9:15 AM County Bus departs Park for downtown and a tour of partially restored Tampa

theatre. Estimated return 3 PM) Tampa Theatre has always been described as beautiful, but you should see it after its

Phase One $6 million dollar, six-week restoration project. Can you say “beautiful-er” ? The seats are softer, the aisles are wider, the colors are brighter and so are the lights. We’ll enjoy a guided tour but there is still no elevator, so stairs must be climbed to enjoy

the balcony. Stairs might be worth the challenge - that’s where you hear tales about the ghosts. If stairs are a no-go, you can hear most of that part of the tour from the orchestra level. And for the finale, we’ll have our own private concert by one of the theatre’s organists on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

Just down the street, another restoration project is our destination for a Dutch-treat lunch. The Heights Market is the new name for the historic Tampa Armature Works building where a wide variety of food is served by various vendors - Japanese noodles, breakfast all day, wood-fired pizza, deli sandwiches & salads, barbeque, coffee & tea bar, ice cream and even a fresh produce stand.

Q: I was recently diagnosed with the beginning symptoms of AMD. What are some things I can do that will help my vision?A: Age Related Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss in adults over the age of 60. You may have noticed a slight loss of your central vision, as this disease affects the macula which is in turn responsible for central vision and allows fine details to be clearly seen. There are a few things that may help slow the progression of the AMD. Antioxidant vitamins and zinc supplementation, as well as consuming dark leafy greens are helpful steps you can take day-to-day. Also, keeping an Amsler-Grid at home to regularly check your vision will help you determine if your sight begins to worsen. For severe vision loss, there are treatments including injections and laser surgery. Talk with your Newsom Eye doctor about these treatments to determine which is best for you.Dr. El-Jabali
