BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will be coming to BelovED starting February 27th through March 3rd, in conjunction with

Read Across America. This year's theme is BelovED is MAD About Books, based off of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland ! Get ready to fall in love with reading all over again at our magical events! Beginning February 15th, parents can log on to our Book Fair homepage and preview and purchase books with their child, send the link to family members to purchase books, or purchase books to donate to your child's classroom. Keep Calm and Read On! See you at our Book Fair! The Activities/themes for Book Fair Week are as follows: Monday - Mad Hatter, wear a hat - Parent volunteers come in to read to scholars - Tea and cookies (parents have tea and cookies with their children while browsing books at the book fair) Tuesday - Fox in Sox Day, wear crazy socks - Drop everything and read and/or class match partner reading Wednesday - Wear wacky clothes Thursday - Oh the Places You'll Go Day, wear college apparel - Rotating classrooms for activities Friday - Dress up as your favorite Alice In Wonderland character - 4th and 5th grades perform Reader's Theatre of Dr. Seuss book for lower grades at Community Circle http://www.scholastic.com/bf/belovedcharterschool

First Grade Potluck Dinner

The First grade is hosting a Potluck Dinner at the school on Monday, February 6th at 5:30. All first grade parents and students are invit-

ed. Please bring a cultural dish to share. No nuts please and do list ingredients on the dish

Kindergarten Water Project

The Water Project is conclud-ing. Thank you for your partici-pation! Please send any money

you have collected to Ms. Giblin in KA. $1= water for one per-

son for a year!

Winter Concerts The Winter Concerts are almost here! Parents are invited to attend their child(ren)’s performances. There will be open seating. The schedule is as fol-lows: The Grades K-4 show, directed by Ms. Jacob will take place in the multipurpose room on Friday, Feb-ruary 10th. Performance Start Times: Kinder: 8:30 First Grade: 9:30 Second Grade: 10:30 Third Grade: 1:00 Fourth Grade: 2:00 Each show will have numerous songs that the chil-dren have learned throughout the year in music class as well as talent acts. The 5th and 6th grade winter show, directed by Mr. Galvez, will be on Thursday, January 9th and will include selections from Disney to Broadway! Sixth Grade Performance: 10:15 am Fifth Grade Performance: 2:15 pm

Our Read-A-Thon fundraiser raised over $6,000 with over $4,000 going to BelovED! Great job team! The sixth grade will donate a portion to the Jersey City Recreation Deprtment in honor of George Gonzalez. The following three classes were the top earners and were award-ed with a pizza party: First Ribbon: Ms. Han’s Fifth Grade Class with $845 Second Ribbon: Ms. Karen’s Second Grade Class with $688 Third Ribbon: Ms. Giblin’s Kindergarten class with $543 Fourth Ribbon: Ms. Thompson’s First Grade class with $447 Fifth Ribbon: Ms. Koufalis’s Second Grade Class with $320 Sixth Ribbon: Ms. Fremgen’s Kindergarten Class with$320 Seventh Ribbon: Ms. Oliver’s Kindergarten Class with $310 These students will receive a $25 gift certificate for use at the Scholastic Book Fair for log-ging the most minutes: Shayaan Mahmood: 40559 minutes; Lheanna Balatbat: 31662 minutes, and Tanisha Kumar: 29561 minutes.
