  • 2017 JASON MOTTE CHARITY GAME

    THIS EVENT IS A KICK OFF FOR OUR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL TEAMS, WHILE ALSO CONTRIBUTING TO A GREAT CAUSE. THE GAME WILL TAKE PLACE ON JANUARY 31 AT 2:00 PM ON BLAND FIELD. 5 BASEBALL AND 5 SOFTBALL PLAYERS WILL TAKE ON 10 STUDENTS IN A FIVE INNING SOFTBALL GAME. TO BE APART OF THE STUDENT TEAM, SIGN UP IN THE OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE. POINTS: 1ST: 30 2ND: 20 3RD- 10 RULES FOR POINTS: STUDENT GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS MUST BRING AS MANY PEOPLE FROM IN THEIR CLUB/ORGANIZATIONS AS POSSIBLE. THE TOP 3 GROUPS WHO CAN RAISE THE MOST MONEY AND BRING THE MOST PEOPLE TO THE GAME, WILL RECEIVE POINTS AND ALSO A STRIKEOUT CANCER TSHIRT. YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE ANNOUNCMENT TO RECEIVE THE POINTS AND TSHIRT! THE JASON MOTTE FOUNDATION MISSION IS TO PROVIDE COMFORT AND CARE WHERE THERE IS A NEED FOR THOSE AFFECTED, EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, BY CANCER OF ALL KINDS. LETS STRIKE OUT CANCER!

  • 2017 WACKY OLYMPICS RULES The following will take place on Tuesday, January 31st, in Canale Gym at 7:00 pm. Points for Winners:

    •   1st – 30 •   2nd -20 •   3rd - 10

    Events:

    1.)  Pie Eating Contest: Each organization will select two members to participate. The event will run as follows. •   Each person will sit in a chair and a whip cream pie will be placed in

    front of them with a gummy worm hidden somewhere in the pie. •   The goal will be to find the worm using only your mouth, remove it, and

    consume the remainder of the cream. •   The winners will be the first individuals recognized by the judges as

    having removed the gummy worm and consumed the entirety of the whip cream filling.

    2.)  Relays: Each organization will select six members to participate. The event will run as follows. •   1st Leg: Dizzy Bat Race (1) - Each competitor will put spin a total of ten

    times around the bat while the bat remains in contact with both their forehead the ground. Upon completion of ten full revolutions, the competitors will race a specified distance and tag hands to start the second leg of the relay.

    •   2nd Leg: Rolling Away (1) - After having their hand tagged by their respective team mates, each competitor will ride a scooter to the next tag point. Both hands must remain on the scooter at all times during the race.

    •   3rd Leg: Wheel Barrow Race (2) - After having received their respective hand tag, the two member team will assume the “Wheel Barrow” position and race a specified distance where they will tag the hands of their respective team mates.

    •   4th and Final Leg: Sack Race (1) - After having received the hand tag from their respective team mates the remaining competitors will insert both legs into a burlap sack. Competitors must jump the remainder of the course while staying inside the burlap sack. Their time will be recorded after crossing the designated finish line. The three teams with the fastest times will be awarded the respective amount of points.

  • 3.)  Knockout: •   Each organization will select two members to participate in a game of

    basketball knockout. The top three finishers will be awarded the respective amount of points.

    4.)  Tug of War:

    •   Each organization will select 5 members to participate in the Tug of War Tournament. The tournament is single elimination with the top 3 teams will receive the respective amount of points.

    5.)  Ping Pong Drop:

    •   Each organization will select 2 members to participate in the Ping Pong Drop.

    •   One person must tape a box to their partner with the ping pong balls inside in an attempt to shake the ping pong balls out.

    •   The top 3 teams will receive the respective amount of points. *DISCLAIMER* -- All Judging will be done by select judges and all of their decisions are final.

  • ALL SING 2017 RULES  

    Maximum Points Possible: 40 I.  General Rules

    Stage Time: •   All groups are limited to 9 minutes on the stage. Time begins when the

    first person walks onto the stage and ends when the last person and all of the props are off of the stage markings.

    •   Performance and stage times must be strictly adhered to during

    performances. Groups will be officially timed during performances and penalty points will be assessed if groups exceed the allotted time during their performance.

    •   Penalty points will be assessed for seconds over the allotted time.

    Groups will be penalized 1 point per second for up to 20 seconds and if a group exceeds 20 seconds, an additional 5-point penalty will be added. A maximum penalty for exceeding the performance time limit will be 25 points.

    •   Hand-held props will only be allowed if they were approved with the

    costume by Student Life. No stage props are allowed on stage unless approved prior to the event.

    •   Groups will have full access and use of the stage space, and they

    may use it for practices by reserving the space through the Student Event Management System.

    •   Any participant that is found in possession of alcoholic beverages

    or is found to be intoxicated during any rehearsal or performance will cause their group to be disqualified.

    Songs and Accompaniment

    •   Each group will be allowed to perform an unlimited number of songs in their allotted time. Groups must perform all songs that they turn in. New songs may not be added after the lists are approved by Student Life unless an organization is asked to drop a song. The organization can only add the same number of songs that they were asked to drop.

    •   If musicians/ instruments are utilized, they will be treated as performers. That is, they must remain within the boundaries marked on the stage, and their setup and takedown time is included in the total performance time.

  • •   Instruments are not required. If a group chooses to not use instruments, a

    CD track of music may be used as accompaniment. Accompaniment may not contain any background vocals.

    •   All groups are required to turn in two copies of their music on 8 ½ by 11

    printer paper with the name of your respective organization as the header by Friday, January 27th. Groups that do not submit songs by this date will receive a 5 point penalty to their scores.

    Costumes/Props •   Costumes and any hand-held props must be approved by the Student

    Life Office by January 27th.

    •   Groups will not be allowed to change costumes during the performance unless they are taking off a layer of clothing to reveal a new layer of clothing or costume.

    •   Any props used must not leave a residue on the performance stage. If materials are left on the stage after a group’s performance (e.g., Glitter, paper, etc.), the cleanup must be completed by the organization before the end of the night (Midnight on February 1st, 2017).

    Final Performances

    •   The final performance will be held on February 1, 2017 in the University Theater.

    Judging •   Groups will be judged by independent judges on penalty points only (based

    on a 100 point scale).

    •   Judges will be judging on the following (based on a 100 point scale): •   25%: Sound (tone quality, blend, balance, ensemble, etc.) •   25%: Interpretation (expression, phrasing, style, tempo, how well the

    group communicates the song, etc.) •   25%: Technique (rhythm, diction, harmony, synchronization, etc.) •   25%: Music (selection of songs, unity of presentation,

    appropriateness for group, within group’s musical capabilities, degree of difficulty of arrangement, etc.)

    •   The decisions of the judges are FINAL. There will be no appeals on the final

    decisions of the judges.

  • II. Penalty Points DISQUALIFICATIONS •   False ID •   Alcohol (presence of or under the influence of)

    25  POINTS

    Singing a song not on the official song list approved by Student Life

    10 POINTS §   Failure to turn in the participant list in the format requested by

    deadline §   Failure to turn in the rules acknowledgment form by deadline §   Failure to turn in the sheet music as requested by deadline §   Any member going behind the stage during the performance or

    changing clothes during the performance

    5 POINTS §   Costume not according to costume description (5 points per

    change) §   Not having all members present at dress rehearsal (the

    member is disqualified, but the group is penalized 5 points) §   Failure to turn in the song title form by deadline

    1 POINT

    •   Exceeding time limit: 1 point per second up to 20 seconds, 25 total penalty points will be assessed for groups exceeding 20 seconds

  • CHRISTIAN BROTHERS CAPTURE THE FLAG RULES

    RULES AND GUIDELINES: EACH TEAM MUST HAVE 5 MEMBERS PRESENT TO PARTICIPATE. EACH TEAM WILL HAVE 5 MINUTES TO GET TO THEIR BASE AND PLANT THEIR FLAG. ONCE THE WHISTLE IS SOUNDED, EACH TEAM MUST GO AND TRY TO CAPUTURING THE OTHER TEAMS FLAG. IN ORDER TO WIN YOU MUST HAVE THE MAJROITY OF THE TEAMS FLAGS AT YOUR BASE. IF YOUR FLAG IS CAPUTRED, THEN YOUR TEAM IS OUT UNTIL THE NEXT GAME. YOU MAY PASS THE FLAG WHILE RUNNING TO A TEAMMATE AS LONG AS THE FLAG DOES NOT TOUCH THE GROUND. IF YOU ARE TAGGED AT ANY POINT DURING THE GAME, YOU MUST GO TO THAT TEAMS JAIL. YOU CAN ONLY BE FREE FROM JAIL IF SOMEONE COMES AND TAGS YOU OUT. FLAGS MUST BE VISIBLE AT BASES. BASE WILL BE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CIRCLE WITH A 10YD CIRCUMFRANCE. THERE ARE NO TERRITORIES OR BOUNDRIES. ALL OF CAMPUS WILL BE USED. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT/TAGGED WITH A FLAG, THAT FLAG MUST BE RETURNED TO BASE AND YOU WILL BE IN JAIL. EACH TEAM WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT COLOR BANDANNA TO IDENTIFY OTHER TEAM MEMBERS.

  • CHRISTIAN BROTHERS UNIVERSITY TRIVIA NIGHT

     Rules and Guidelines •   Pre-competition things to do:

    -   Select a captain for your team. This person will be responsible for turning in your answer sheets.

    -   Write your team name and number on each of the Answer Sheets on your table.

    •   Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tables will be provided for set-up. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.

    •   Teams must be registered in advance by completing the sign up provided by Student Life. •   Each team will consist of at least 5 players, but may not have more than 15 total. •   No outside resource material is allowed; the use of cell phones or any other wireless devices

    is strictly prohibited. Please leave the room if you need to use your cell phone. Monitors will be watching throughout the game and you will be expelled from the game if you’re caught trying to find an answer online.

    •   Each question will be asked out loud only once, and then displayed on a projection screen.

    Teams will have approximately 2 minutes to answer the question before the next question is read. Please print or write clearly. Correct spelling is not required, but it must be clear what the answer is.

    •   Only one answer per question should be written on the answer sheet. Blanks answers or

    multiple answers for the same question will be considered incorrect.

    •   Answers will be read after the judges receive all of the answer sheets for that round. The score-keeper will keep track of each team score and post them for all to see.

    •   Do not shout out answers, even as a joke. •   All questions have been researched and vetted. The decision of the judges or master of

    ceremonies is final. •   Sportsmanship is KEY – have a terrific time and be respectful of other teams, players,

    judges, and volunteers. •   Points will be added to the overall team point total for the week.

  • BANNER COMPETITION RULES

    Banners due by 1:30 to the Canale Arena on Saturday, February 4th.

    Teams are encouraged to design a Banner in support of the Buccaneers for the Homecoming game incorporating the homecoming theme, “Bucs on the Prowl.” You are

    responsible for providing zip ties/string or the mechanism by which your banner is to hang in the theater.

    All judging will be done by the chosen panel. All of the judge’s decisions are final. POINTS First Place- 30 Second Place- 20 Third Place- 10

    REPRESENTATIVES WILL RECEIVE AN AWARD ON BEHALF OF THE ORGANIZATION.

  • HOMECOMING NOMINATIONS Dear Organizations,

    Please nominate one male and one female candidate for the Homecoming Court Elections.

    The candidates must be of at least junior standing, full-time status, and meet all Christian Brothers University academic guidelines. Additionally, the organization that the candidate represents must compete in ALL scored Homecoming events.
