Week 9 Term 3 2018
Ter From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Term Three is almost complete and it has been extremely busy. The students all performed proudly at the Whole
School Concert and it was wonderful to know that so many parents and carers were able to attend. Today the
Lindfield band students came to perform and show our children all of the different instruments that can make up an
Intermediate Band.
Over the past few weeks I have, with the Schools Administration Officer, been attending training on the new HR
payroll system that has been rolled out across schools in our district over the past few months and yesterday, I
attended a Police Forum with the Local Area Command to discuss how we can work together to better support our
students from Primary to High School. Have a safe and relaxing holiday and we will see you all next Term.

In 3/4C this Term, we have been learning all about measurement. We
engaged in collaborative learning in competing in a class competition for
the paper chain challenge. Each student was given 1 piece of paper, glue
and scissors and the challenge was to make the longest paper chain. Here
are some photos of 3/4C designing their paper chains.
This Term Kindergarten were fortunate to receive a Sporting Schools
Grant which means we have had Skcool Gym run Gymnastics lessons for
five weeks. We have been learning about using the trampoline, balance
beam, mats, pole and learning how to do pike, pencil and motorbike
jumps. The students have had an absolute ball.

Children will participate in a program which will introduce them to

experience the excitement of starting Kindergarten at Noumea
Public School in 2019. We look forward to their arrival!
Fruit and Veg’tember
September is Fruit and Veg Month with the whole school participating in learning activities and
striving to eat and incorporate more healthy foods into their diet. Congratulations to 3/4C and
5/6L who have been the first two winners in our fruit and vegetable count.
1K have been celebrating Fruit and Vegetable month by making a fruit salad and writing
procedures to explain how to make it to others. They also made different fruit and vegetable
artworks using crumpled crepe paper, which are on display in their classroom. We talked about
where the fruit and vegetables grow; on trees, vines and in the ground.

Whole School Concert
We had a very enjoyable afternoon at our Whole School
Concert this week. The theme was ‘Lights, Camera, Action’
and each class performed to a song from a movie. Our hip
hop group, Stage 1 dance group, Aboriginal dance and
multicultural groups also performed. Everyone did a
fabulous job. We were overwhelmed by the community
support and hope everyone enjoyed the show!
Thank you to Miss Thompson and Mr Aves for their time
and energy in coordinating the event.
