Sub: Revised sampling plan for considering GOLf inclusion as per IS 8034/14220/9079/9283.

1) This has reference to sampling plan circulated vide CMD note No.CMD-III/16:8034/14220/9079/9283 dated 15 Sept 2006 for GaL/inclusion for various types of pumpsets/ motors under BIS Certification Scheme.

2) The above referred sampling plan was prepared for the purpose of addressing the emergencysituation that arose due to Excise duty imposed by Min. of Finance, Govt. of India for Non ISIpump sets, so as to complete the process of inclusion / GaL before 31-12-2006. However evenafter the completion of this task, the above plan was continued as per CMD circular CMD-III/16:8034/14220/9079/9283 dated 5thSept 2007.

3) The ~bove sampling plan has now been reviewed and revised as under keeping in mind thatthere is no dilution in the verification of conformity of pump sets/motors:

SAMPLING PLAN FOR SUBMERSffiLE PUMP SETS AS PER 'IS 8034'

. A 'series' may be defined as a group of pump sets having the same Head per Stage,Discharge, Bore Size, Del. Size, Category, Type of Duty, No. of Phases, Rated Voltage,No. of Poles, Type of Cooling. Any change in the above parameters will be treated as adifferent series.

The conformity of a particular series may be assessed by independent testing the pumpset having the highest number of stages for every motor rating in a particular series.The complete testing of pump sets and motors shall be carried out as. per IS 8034 forevery sample drawn.In case, the motors for submersible pump sets are ISI Marked, even then the same shallbe tested as per IS 8034 for considering inclusion/GaL, since IS 8034 stipulates morestringent conditions with respect to temperature rise test.In case of extension'of a particular series of pump sets already covered in the licence,samples as per the above plan shall be drawn and independently tested.

SAMPLING PLAN FOR PUMPSETS/MOTORS AS PER 'IS 14220'. 'IS 9079' AND 'IS9283'. .

In case of above, each pump set/motor rating shall be tested for GOL/ inclusion as they aredesigned separately for each duty conditions

4) The above sampling plan shall be implemented with effect from 10 10 2011.

5) OPERATIONAL ISSUES:~.

a) Grant of Licences/ Inclusion of new varieties in the existing licence:

i) The applications received for GaL/inclusion of new varieties under simplifiedprocedure before 10 10 2011, shall be processed as per old sampling plan circulated

ii) The applications received for GOL under old scheme ofBIS before or after 10 102011, shall be processed as per above revised sampling plan only.

b) To ensure uniformity, the enclosed Endorsement format may be used, for GOL/inclusion as perIS 8034, IS 14220, IS 9079and IS 9283.

c) It shalL be ensured that manufacturer is having complete manufacturing and testingarrangements, required for all varieties of pump sets/motors to be covered in the licence. Duringoperation of licence, sample shall be drawn by rotation for various pump sets/motors covered inthe licence. .

6) This is issued with the approval of Competent Authority.
