The Tree Door Task 1 Create a descriptive paragraph/s using your 5 senses. Try to include adverbs, conjunctions and fronted adverbials. Challenge – Can you include speech in your paragraph? Example: On a dark and misty evening, I happened to be aimlessly wondering through the woods on my way home. As I was walking, I stumbled across a tree and it was no ordinary tree because it had a particularly large door at the front of it. It looked as if it had been recently put there. ‘’Hello?’’ I loudly called, hoping for a reply but no-one answered. The air around the tree felt cold, although my walk beforehand seemed quite mild and pleasant…there was something uneasy about this place.

Using a story planner/story mountain, plan a story based on the picture in as much detail as you can. You can use your other work to help shape these ideas.

Ideas – You step inside the door and get trapped inside a new world and need to safely find your way back home. The magic tree comes to life and will grant your wishes, but how many wishes are too many? How will you decide which are the most important? A gruesome, angry troll emerges from the door and you need to calm him down and try to return him home.

Task 4 – Write the story.
