King of Eternal Glory“Climb with me the holy mountain of grace and holi-

ness, that you may be illumined and transfigured by the glo-

rious light of my Son Jesus. He is the only-begotten Son of

the Father. He is the word eternally generated by the Father,

consubstantial with Him, his perfect image and reflection

of his divine splendor. He is the King of eternal glory.

As He was trasfigured on Mount Tabor in the pres-

ence of the three Apostles, Peter, James and John, so alsowill He manifest Himself to you in the splendor of his di-

vine glory, if you climb with me the holy mountain of hu-

mility and littleness, of love and purity, of silence and prayer.

King of eternal glory. When the word became flesh in my virginal womb, his divine

splendor was completely veiled by the humanity he assumed. Thus his divinity was hid-

den by his humanity.

King of eternal glory. When Jesus will return in his divine glory and appear to all

humanity, each one will be called to undergo the same experience as Peter, James and

John underwent on Mount Tabor, because Jesus will manifest Himself in his splendor,and his humanity will be completely transfigured in the most brilliant light of his divinity.

Then the whole universe will proclaim Jesus Chirst as the Son of God, the perfect

Image of the Father , the Word made man, the one and only Savior, He through whom all

things have been made and who has the power to subject all things to Himself. Jesus will

bring his glorious kingdom into the world, and it will be a kingdom of holiness and grace,

a kingdom of justice, of love and of peace.

Beloved sons, live in the joyous expectation of his glorious return. For this, I invite

you to walk with me along the road of littleness and humility. In this way, the Father will

reveal to you the secret of his Son; the Holy Spirit will lead you to an understanding of thewhole and entire truth; Jesus Christ will manifest Himself to you in the splendor of his

divine Person, so that He may be adored, loved and glorified by all as the King of eternal

glory.”

“God demands you to be holy.”(1 Thes 4:3) God expects onlyone thing from every man that He has created and that is his

sanctification. The sins of one who is called in Jesus Christ is forgiven

in the name of Jesus Christ. It does not mean that simply because

one has received forgiveness in Jesus Christ, he is perfect. He has just

crossed over from death to life, that is all. not certain that he may not

return to his previous state of death.

The physicians with their strenuous efforts bring back to life

even one who has encountered death. Yet his life may remain in'comma'. It may be with efforts over a long period that he regains his

health. In the same way, sanctification is a long drawn out process

through which one is brought back to life and regains the health and

strength of his soul. It is an ongoing process to be continued

throughout one’s life.

God is holy. How does a man who is only a handiwork of

God live? Offsprings are born in the mould of parents. If the father

is virtuous and good natured, naturally his children will also be so. However there are

children who have no semblance with the goodness of their father. All men born on earth

are the children of God, His creations. Every human being is formed in his/her mother’s

womb by God. God is the father of everyone. God the Father is holy. But how many people

are there who inherit the holiness of God? Nay, how many are there who know or loveGod?

The Lord tells all who are redeemed by the blood of Jesus that it is their sanctification

that the Lord desires. God thirsts for the children of His nature. Word of the Lord says “Be

holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy”. Scripture says 'be holy because

I am holy' (1 Pet 1:15-16).

Since 2013 is the jubilee year of the Spirit in Jesus it is the year for our sanctification

also. How much does the Lord desire the formation of a sanctified community! In fact the

holy church which is the mystical body of Christ is the holy nation of the Lord. God said tothe old Israel, You are my holy people. “For you are people holy to the Lord your God. The

Lord your God has chosen you out of all peoples on the earth to be his people his treasured

possession” (Deut 7:6). But the Israel of yore was vain, impudent and disobedient.

God told His children of His church whom He formed through Jesus Christ “You

are the new Israel. You are my holy nation. I have chosen you from all nations on this earth

to be my own people.” The Lord our God is telling all His children of His church to be holy.

If Tom Zacharia writes the same thing in the pages of Holy Queen magazine it may not be

palatable to many. That is why Spirit in Jesus people are exhorted to understand that they

are the new Israel, that they are the holy people of God. All the Spirit in Jesus children are

called upon to be in holiness.

Who are the holy ones? What is holiness?

Those who do things pleasing to the Lord are holy. There are many things that

please me. The desires of my eyes, the desires of my mind, the thoughts coming from my

heart all these are for satiating the evil desires of my body and flesh. Ipso facto they are

against God. Because God is holy, I control my eyes so that my deeds are in conformity

with the holiness of God. I control the desires of my mind. I will not permit my thoughts to be corrupted. I strive strenuously for speaking only good things with my tongue. Are my

deeds pleasing to the Lord? I keep a vigil. When I do things which please me only I go

astray from the love of God. I consider God’s love to be more valuable than the material

things of this world. For that love of God to be mine and never to be lost I discard things

pleasing to me as rubbish and fight for materializing things pleasing to the Lord. “Try to

learn what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the worthless things that people do,

things that belong to the darkness. Instead bring them out to the light”(Ephesians 5:10-11).

Every faithful shall have to discern what all are pleasing to the Lord. It is the lack of

such discernment that makes many people slaves to sin. The Lord has commanded “Do

not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world you do not

love the Father”(1 John 2: 15). The commandment of the Lord is that the world and the

things that belong to it should not be loved. Such people – who are in love with world andworldly things – cannot ever have the love of God the Father.

Television is one thing that most of

us like. So much time is spent in front of it.

We never get bored. Shifting from one

channel to another, many people get

enslaved to TV. Only very few can resist it.

If you and your children voluntarily keep

away from it you are blessed. If you are a

regular TV viewer you must ask yourself

“Is it pleasing to the Lord that I am a

regular TV viewer”. Have you ever asked

the Lord “God, is it pleasing to you that I

watch TV?” The Lord may at times keep

mum. But you should recognise that many

programs on the channels are not pleasing

to the Lord.

I have seen the Lord's intervention

in this mater in two ways. (1) Certain

people forbid altogether viewing TV

programs. (2) Certain programs certain

programs cause to loos one’s relationship

with God and therefore are forbidden. “‘All

things are lawful for me’, but not all things

are beneficial. ‘All things are lawful for me’,

but I will not be dominated by anything”(1 Cor 6:12).

TV is lawful. There is good and evil in it. Up to a limit it is pleasur viewing TV. It

keeps us abreast of things happening around us. But it is bondage to many. Some may not

be viewing films on TV. They switch channels. Some others are slaves to films. Serials

(soap operas) and cartoons enslave others. They lose their relationship with God. Many

households do not have a fixed time schedule for prayer. Even the time for family prayers

are fixed depending on time schedules of TV channels. At times family prayers are

suspended.




TV so to say has

invaded this generation like a

terrorist. It has its sway over

infants and even

octogenarians. Even one week old infants are at times made

to view TV. They may be

sitting in the lap of their

parents. Their eyes and ears are

forced to receive all that

emanate from TV channels.

Such children get enslaved to

TV even while they are only

infants.

When you attend a

Holy Mass or a gospel

proclamation your eyes ears

and the whole body absorb all

that transpire there. What ever

the preacher proclaime enter

into your heart through the

ears. There what you receive is

God. Whatever comes out of

T V channels also have great influence. Each word and each action have. In other words

they generate great evil influence on individuals. When those who have attended retreats

and received the Holy Spirit get enslaved to TV, it may become impossible for them to

make even a small prayer. Their souls get bound as if by numerous ropes. Darkness

engulfs their minds. Thoughts get corrupted as those of the world. Dracula films, horror

stories, murder scenes, all these have great evil influence in themselves.

Why is it that those viewing blue films (pornographic films) get enslaved to them?It is because it is adultery and therefore diabolic. Devilish possession takes place in the

hearts of those who view such films. They become slaves to sin and the devil. Television

and internet lead men to disaster. "Everything is lawful to me''. Upto a certain extent TV

and the internet are good. But if it breeds more evil than good I should keep away from

it. Human mind should reign over TV and the net which now hold sway over them.

Otherwise it may become calamitous




“For they will be made holy who observe things in holiness” (Wisdom 6:10). The

distinction between holy and unholy has to be distinguished clearly. It is when one rejects

everything unholy and does what is holy in a holy manner that one becomes holy.

Anything which is not evil and which is not a sin is holy. And it should be done in

holiness. Driving a vehicle is just an action or work. It can be done in a holy manner or an

unholy manner. One who drives recklessly without giving way for other vehicles or without

the heeding the horns is harmful. One who comes to next to you on the road needs space.

He blows the horns for that purpose. But if the one who drives the vehicle in front does

not give space for the other vehicles either because of false pride or jealousy, is doing a

very bad thing. But if on hearing the horns I give space and allow him to pass by my

action becomes holy.

Family life is holy. One who loves his family members and behaves in a lovingmanner, and has effective dialogue at home with his family is observing a holy act. The

angry the rancorous the exploding the drunkard and the adulterer make holy things unholy.

Wealth is a gift of God. Making wealth by just means is a holy act. But if one

makes money in ways unholy, he is doing an unholy thing and is making holy things

unholy. We are the ones who make our deeds holy or unholy. When we perform holy

things in a holy manner we become holy.

When you drive your vehicle displaying a rosary and an icon of Holy Mother, you

are proclaiming to the world that you are a Christian, a Catholic. When one drives a

vehicle gently and in a decent manner, you are exalting Jesus before the gentiles. But if

your driving is rash and reckless you are corrupting the name of Jesus in the society.

We have to strive hard for holiness in ways big and small. It is only through

strenuous efforts that we can succeed in our efforts to remain holy. Let this jubilee year be

the year of our sanctification. Let there be material changes in all spheres of your life. We

shall allow Christ to be glorified through us. Let Christ be glorified in us. Let us shine like

stars on the earth when the Lord looks down from heaven.

I pray in this jubilee year which commences from the month of March - may God

bless all of you most abundantly. This is an year of blessings for you. Let us make all those

blessings - deep and vast as sea - that God has placed before us ours. Wishing all of you

Word-based truthsIn the last few months we were trying to understand the mystery of salvation

of all souls. Our belief that God gives opportunity for all souls for their salvation

even after deth, offering of prayers and expiations to that end are not misconcep-

tions per se but revelations of certain truths based on the word of God itself. The

Holy Bible is God’s revelations for the salvation of man. Though God began it be-

fore the foundation of the world by choosing us in Christ (Eph 1:4) it was iniated in

human history at the fulfilment of time and continues for all times till the end of the

world (Final Judgement), that is the theme of the Holy Bible. Whatever God says onsalvation of man are eternal truths. The Lord asserts that his words will not pass

away even if heaven and earth pass away; they will certainly be fulfilled (lk 21:33, Ls

40:8). Word of God will never fail, asserts St.Paul (Rom 9:6). Therefore all the words

of God concerning salvation of man are truths that are to be fulfilled in the life of

everyone. Many of the words of God could be comprehended in their fullness only

if we approach them from the perspective that God gives opportunity (time) for

salvation till the Final Judgement. This is because many of them (words of God)

have not been fulfilled; they are to be fulfilled before the end of the world.

Words of God: True and eternal

1. All the nations will bow down before God

Psalm 86 says “All the nations you have

made shall come and bow down before you,

O Lord, and shall glorify your name” (Ps

86:9). What God pronounces through these

words is a truth that has not yet happened

but something that is to happen at sometime.

“All nations that you have made means ev-

eryone created from the beginning of the

world till the end of the world will bow down

before God and glorify him. But the fact is

that billions of people have died without ever

knowing and adoring the true God . If they

do not get an opportunity even after death

the above word of God would be a travesty

of truth. No, the above word of God is an

eternal truth. It will certainly happen once.

Therefore shall we not believe that God will

give an opportunity to know, recognise and

adore Him (an opportunity for salvation) to

all those who have not done so ?

That all will bend their knees

God himself swears in his name that

every knee shall bow before him (Is 45:23).

St.Paul also declares, “at the name of Jesus

every kneee should bend, in heaven and on

earth and under the earth” (Phil 2:10). A

great majority of people who have lived on

this earth and died have not known and ac-

cepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and

therefore have never bowed their knees be-

fore Him. And that state of affairs contin-

ues even today. In that case we will have to

admit that the above words of God are not

true. No, they are true! Because they declare

that prior to the end of Age all the living

and dead will accept Jesus as their Lord and

Savior and thus will be saved.

Eternal damination of those who

do not bend their knees

But Jesus will execute his Final Judge-

ment on Satan and his followers who refuse

to bend their knees, and banish them to eter-nal fire. St.Paul asseserts that : “Then comes

the end, when he hands over the kingdom

to God the Father, after he has destroyed

every ruler and every authority and power.

For he must reign until he has put all his

enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be

destroyed is death” (1 Cor 15:24 -26).

To somtimes experience disguest is

somthing quite natural. The virtue,

which at times is of heroic propor-

tions, consists in being able to over-

come disgust, for the love of Jesus.

This is the secret we discover

in the lives of some saints : the ability

to go beyong what is nearly natural.

This is what happened to St.

Francis of Assissi. Once, when he ran

into a leper who was compleatly dis-

figured, he instictively backed up.

Right away he overcame the disgust

he felt and kissed the face that was

completely disfigured. What was the

outcome of this ? Francis felt himself

filled with tremendous joy. He felt to-

tally in control of himself.

And the leper went on his way

praising God.

Eternal Love and Mercy of God

The greatest truth that God reveals

of Himself is that “God is Love” (1 Jn 4:8).

And His love is merciful. The Old Testament

defines God as”“The LORD, the LORD, a God mer-

ciful and gracious, slow to anger,

and abounding in steadfast love and

faithfulness” (Ex 34:6).

The love and mercy of God is eter-

nal and infinite.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never

ceases, his mercies never come to an end”

(Lam 3:22)“O give thanks to the LORD, for he

is good, for his steadfast love endures for-

ever” (Ps 136:1;Ps136:1-26;118:1-4)

The love of a mother The love of God is a combination of

the love of the womb of a mother and the

heart of a father, scholars of the Bible argue

(Xavier Leon Dufour, Dictionary of Bibli-

cal Theology, Chapman, London, 1984,

P.351). And therefore, God will not forget

anybody even if a mother forgets her nurs-

ing child (Ls 49:15). This is because all lives

are his (Ezk 18:4; Is 57;16). And God loves

all things that exist, and detest none of the

things that he has made and would not have

made anything if he had hated it (Wis

11:24). God’s sovereignty over all causes himto show mercy towards all (Wis 12:16).

“He does not retain his anger forever,

because he delights in showing clemency”

(Micah 7:18; Hosea 11:8-9; Jer 31:20)

Eternal love of God

The above words of God say that

God’s love for man is eternal and God shows

bountless, infinite love when man commits

sin. Many people tend to think that God’s

love and mercy end with the death of man.

If that be the case how could one claim that

God's love and mercy is eternal? In fact, does

the Holy Bible teach that God’s love and

mercy end with the death of man? No. Only

if God shows love and mercy even after

death can it become eternal. God loves him

even when a man leads a sinful life, dies and

is demned in hell. God has mercy on him

and that mercy becomes the cause of his sal-

vation. Then only the words of God on

man’s salvation get fulfilled. The following

words of God reveal the above truth.

“Then shall the young women rejoice

in the dance, and the young men and the

old shall be merry. I will turn their mourn-

ing into joy, I will comfort them, and give

them gladness for sorrow. ” (Jer 31:13).

“ In overflowing wrath for a moment




I hid my face from you, but with everlasting

love I will have compassion on you, says

the Lord, your Redeemer” (Is 54:8).

“Go, and proclaim these words to-

wards the north, and say: Return, faithless

Israel, says the Lord. I will not look on you

in anger, for I am merciful, says the Lord; I

will not be angry for ever.” (Jer 3:12)

“For I will not continually accuse, nor

will I always be angry; for then the spirits

would grow faint before me, even the souls

that I have made” (Is 57:16)

“He will not always accuse, nor will

he keep his anger for ever”. (Ps 103:9)“If they violate my statutes and do

not keep my commandments, then I will

punish their transgression with the rod and

their iniquity with scourges; but I will not

remove from him my steadfast love, or be

false to my faithfulness. I will not violate my

covenant, or alter the word that went forth

from my lips” (Ps 89:31-34)

“For judgement will be without mercy toanyone who has shown no mercy; mercy tri-

umphs over judgement” (Jam 2:13)

God’s righteous judgement anddamnation of first parents

It was owing to the righteous judge-

ment of God that the first parents, when they

sinned, were condemned to Satan’s hege-

mony and hell upon their death. “but of the

tree of the knowledge of good and evil you

shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it

you shall die” (Gen 2:17). That was the com-

mandment and judgement of God. Accord-

ingly they forfieted the status of children of

God and became children of Satan. That is

death. And mortal death accompanied it.

Thus their souls were entrapped in hell for-

ever. They were neither able to beseech God’s

mercy nor atone for their sins, since being

sinners their prayers and expiation carried

no value at all before God. However, mercy

of God triumphed over his righteousness.

That was when they got damned upon

My name is Jaya Thankan. I am

giving this testimony in respect of my

brother’s child. The child is now eight

months old. Since three days from his

birth he had slight fever and weezing.

Even though he was undergoing treat-

ment for this it continued to occur at

intervels. On one such instance the fever

rose too high and he was taken to

Kottayam E.S.I. Hospital. He was admit-

ted there for a week. Within two days

after his discharge from the hospital the

child fell into the same bad condition with

fever and weezing. So he was admitted

in the hospital at Thodupuzha and he

was in a critical stage. In the ambulance

by intaking oxygen he was taken to

Kolencheri Medical Hospital. When I

heard the news I rang up to Marian

Koodaran for prayer support. They

promised to pray and asked us to say the

rosary. We recited the rosary in accor-dance with their advice. In between we

enquired about the child and found that

his condition had very much improved.

Now he is completely alright. Thanks to

Jesus as well as to Holy Mary for the

Testimony“The Lord is the strength of his people;

he is the saving refuge of his

anointed.’’ (Ps 28:8)




commiting sin. God promised a

savior for the whole humanity (Gen

3:15). At the fulfillment of time the

Son of God incarnated as Jesus

who prayed and atoned for the sins

of humanity through his sufferings

and crucificaxion. There by he

made the whole humanity his own

and his rightful due (Rev 5:9-10).

In order to redeem his people he de-

stroyed the gates of hell and res-

cued Adam and numerous people

imprisoned there and took them to

heaven (Rev 1:18;3:17; 1Pt 3:18-22;Eph 4:8-10).

Perpetual Divine Justice and

Judgement

God’s justice and judgement

on those who sin are the same for

all times. “You will die if you sin”.

This judgement prevails even after

the death of Jesus. “Everyone who

commits sin is a slave to sin” (Jn

8:34) and child of Satan (Jn 8:44).

But after the time of Jesus God has

given the grace to all people to es-

cape from the hegemony of Satan

through Jesus. “There is therefore

now no condemnation for those

who are in Jesus Christ” (Rom 8:1).

Salvation to all those who are con-

demned in hell.

Salvation of those damned in hell

If sinners do not atone for

their sins and die with Jesus (Rom

6:1-8), Satan will enslave them and

they will get damned in hell. That

certainly is according to the righ-

teous judgement of God. But God will show mercy

towards all those who died since the time of Jesus in

the same way as he showed mercy towards everyonefrom the time of Adam till Jesus. If not his judgment

would not be righteous. “Righteousness and justice

are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and

faithfulness go before you” (Ps. 89:14) “A bruised reed

he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will

not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. He

will not grow faint or be crushed until he has estab-

lished justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for

his teaching” (Is 42:3,4).

If God should show mercy towards the con-

demned and damned, their sins should be duly expi-

ated. Those damned in hell cannot do that. But to those

who lead a virtuous life in union with Jesus have been

given the grace to expiate for the sins of those damned

in hell, of course by the merit of Jesus. That requires

incessent prayers together with acts of expiation. To

reveal this truth to the world Lord Jesus sent no less a

person than his holy Mother to the world at Fatima.

The completion of those revelations is being made

through Spirit in Jesus.

Musings of Church Fathers on the salva-tion of souls

There may be people who either cannot accept

or reject the truths being revealed on the salvation of

souls. We do not shun them. But remember,




deviberations and discourses on this issue

are not of recent origin. It was not iniated

by Spirit in Jesus. It has its origin from the

time of the beginning of the Church. Many

Fathers of the Church have written on these

lines, a detailed reference of which is ob-

tained in a book authored by Pope Emeri-

tus Benedict XVI when he was a Cardinal.

Eternal Fire and Final Judgement

Msgr. Canon George D Smith in his

book 'The Teaching of the Catholic Church'

(Burns and Oates, London, 1948, P.1197)

gives a brief summary of the teachings of

the Fathers of the Church on hell and final

judgement. They believed that eternal pun-

ishment in hell is only after the final judge-

ment; but those who fall there prior to theFinal Judgement will have to undergo se-

vere torments. Many of those Fathers had

doubts on purgatory and relations between

particular and final judgement. But none of

them had any doubt on the eternal fire that

awaited Satan and his cohorts after the Fi-

nal Judgement. Msgr Smith wrote: “One

point, however, may be noted in reading the

Fathers: that several, both Greeks and Lat-

ins, believed in postponement of hell till the

day of final judgement. Hell in the full sense

of the word would begin, both for demons

and damned, only after the sentence of

Chirst on the last day. Meanwhile the devils

and the wicked would, indeed undergo some

punishment, but a punishment not com-

plete, unchangable and final’’.

In fact some Fathers were confused

in mind as to how to reconcile four points

of divine revelation: first, the existence of

purgatory, or the temporary punishment for

some; secondly, the absence of the bodies of

the damned till the final resurrection, and

therefore the incompletion of their damna-

tion; thirdly, the freedom of the devils to

roam about the world for the ruin of souls,

and their subsequent inclusion in the pit of

hell afterwards; finally, the exact bearing and

purpose of Christ’s sentence at the general

judgement and its relation to the fixing of

man’s destiny at death.”

Union of Traditions

There exists two traditions in the the-

ology of salvation. The first is that there is

no hope for salvation to those who fall to hell

upon death. The Catholic Church subscribes

to this. The second is that particular judge-

ment is not eternal and there is opportunity

for salvation prior to Final Judgement. How-

dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth

and clothed me with joy’’ (Ps 30:11)




ever, the recently published Catechism of the

Church gives an integrated view without dis-

carding the latter perspectrive altogether. In

the section titled “Christ descended into

Hell” it is written: “Jesus did not descend

into hell to deliver the damned, nor to de-

stroy the hell of damnation, but to free the

just who had gone before him” (CCC

No.633) However, CCC No.635 says:

‘Christ went down into the depths of death

so that “the dead will hear the voice of the

Son of God, and those who hear will live.

Jesus, “the Author of life” by dying de-

stroyed “him who has the power of death,

that is, the devil, and (delivered) all those who

through fear of death were subject to life-

long bondage”. The position of the Church

in No.635 is different from that in No.633.

In order to buttress the position in No.635

the CCC gives an account of Jesus’ encoun-

ter with Adam and Eve in Hades. The de-

scription of the encounter is adapted from

an ancient homily for Holy Saturday, the full

version of which is given in the prayer book

for Holy Saturday. See, how beautiful are the

words of Jesus to Adam, “Rise up from Hell,

we shall go. Satan expelled you from Para-

dise. I am going to instal you not in Para-

dise but on a thrown in Heaven. It is read-

ied, its carriers are also ready”.

That Jesus descended into Hell and

saved Adam and Eve is an official position

of the Catholic Church. The Church also

holds that Jesus also saved all who were in

hell. To quote the ancient Saturday Hom-

ily: “Today a great silence reigns on earth, a

great silence and a great stillness. A great si-

lence because the King is asleep. The earth

trembled and is still because God has fallen

asleep in the flesh and has raised up all who

have slept ever since the world began” (CCC

NO.635). Spirit in Jesus only upholds this

position, that is all. And we pray through

the intercession of Holy Mary that all the

priests and laity shall come to believe this

truth.

My name is Antony. I was working abroad earlier. After resigning the job, we

are now settled in Kerala. I always had two major intentions to submit before our

Lord in my daily prayers - a house of our own, and my son’s education. Due to

various reasons the construction of the house was facing obstacles. In september 2012,

while the concreting work of the Grotto at Maryland was in progress, I was informedfrom Ave Maria fellowship that anything that we pray for at that time will be an-

swered without fail. I did so, wth so much faith and hope. As a result the obstacles

that prevented the construction of my dream house were removed. Moreover, I got a

higher posting in the same company where I worked before and my son got chances

of higher education. Thank you Holy mother. I adore you, praise you and thank you

heavenly Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

Little definite information has come down to us about the chosen soul

who was to be, in God’s providence, the earthly guardian of Our Lady and the

Foster-father of the Incarnate Word. All that is reliably known of this “just

man” named Joseph is contained in the first two chapters of the Gospels of

Sts.Mathew and Luke. In the apocryphal writings, which furnish us with manyinteresting details, it is next to impossible to separate those reports which may

be based on true historical occurences from those which are the product of

pious imagination.

With St.Thomas Aquinas we may believe that at the time of the An-

nunciation by the Archangel Gabriel, young Mary and Joseph were merely

affianced. From the fact that there is no further reference to Joseph in the Bible

after the finding of the boy Jesus in the temple, it has been reasonably inferred

that he did not live to see the beginning of Our Lord’s public ministry. The

date and place of his death and burial are unknown, but devotion has beenshown to him since the earliest times.

Joseph is, no doubt, the greatest and most beloved of all the saints of

the Catholic Church next only to Mary. His greatness and that of Mary is

measured by their closeness to Jesus Christ when he came to earth two millen-

nia ago as the Word-Made Flesh, the God-with-us, to impart eternal life to all

who believed in him. Little wonder then that Pope Pius IX, on 8 December

1870 proclaimed Joseph the Patron Saint of the Universal Church. St. Joseph

is also invoked for a happy death.

The Kingdom of Christ’s reign of Grace on earth commenced the mo-ment he was born a child of the Holy Family where Joseph was the least in

personal worth, yet at the level of grace far greater than any human person

except Mary. In 1995 Pope Pius XII added the title, “Patron of workmen”, the

feast to be celebrated on 1 May.

Great in the spirit, great in faith, St Joseph comes through as a man

who heard the words of the living God - he listened to those words in silence,

and became, as it were, the first witness of the Divine Mystery.

where are you?” I believe, the soil and rocks

had got soaked in my tears. But today I

wonder who was He that made me search for

God. Who was He that propelled me- who had

no knowledge of God- to cry out to the God

as my Father?

My wailing and searches of those two

years had driven me to this conclusion. I gotno answer during the period. I thought that

God had not heeded my prayers as there was

no God. Does he reside in some other planet?

If it were so, he might hear my prayers when

that planet passes over Suryanelly. I felt prayers

were just sham. Because of my regard for my

parents, I had to drive the vehicle carrying them

to the church.

My heart became a barren desert. The

mind of one who has lost God is a workshop

of Satan. I was in despair-utter despair. I was

fed up with this life. It was bitterness to

everybody. I did not feel love towards anybody.

Why should I live? The happenings around me

were drawing me towards death. Death alone

was in my mind. It was at that time that I

received a letter from my elder sister inviting

me for a retreat. I said to myself in

resentment. I don’t need any retreat. I have

decided my destiny.

My younger brother Jijy after

attending this very retreat returned home

and tried to share his experiences with me. I

did not pay attention to him. Yet he could

persuade me. I was evasive. Every day heused to tell me the same thing, and urged

me to attend that retreat. When days passed

by, I began to pay attention to him. Slowly

my mood changed and I decided to go for

the retreat. That was how, along with my

family I went to Calicut and from there to

Wayanad. My sister and her husband were

at Vythiri in Wayanad. We stayed there at

Vythiri for two days and from there went to

Calicut for the retreat. It was my

determination that if there is a living God I

must encounter Him. It was the finale of my

queries during the previous several years. If I cannot meet God there, there would not be

a life for me thereafter. That was my firm

decision. While inside the retreat hall the

preacher said, “you should not talk to

anybody; God will talk to you, pray for it”.

I had come in search of God. So I

told myself that at any cost I will have to

meet Him; I am ready to pay any price. If I

could meet God, I will not talk to anybody

during the retreat. It was my firm decision.

I did not talk at all. Days were passing by. It

was like raindrops falling from the skies to a

dry parch of land that the ‘Word of the

Lord’ entered my heart. I could not

comprehend the meaning. It was

Wednesday. Confession was over.

Something discernible was happening inside

me.

It was 9 p m Saturday. The last

session before going to bed was praise and

worship. By 9.30 everyone was in full steam.

I too with unalloyed attention was

worshipping. All on a sudden I felt very hot

on my tongue as if a log of fire had fallen. A

voice and a language not known to me

flowed out from my lips. However much Itried I could not control. Within a short time

the session was over. It was then time to go

to bed. However a few of us went to the

nearby chapel which was only a small room.

I too went inside. One by one everyone went

out. Whenever I tried to pray, strange

tongues flowed out like a strong current of




water. I felt ashamed and tried to close my

mouth. But I could not. I was kneeling.

Strange tongues though chastened, quietly

but powerfully flowed out. Now I was all

alone there. A stream of light appeared in

front of me. Suddenly I found Him in

glowing silken clothes. Both His hands were

stretched downwards. From his palms

emanated a radiance that outshone the sun.

That man clad as a Jew was none other than

Lord Jesus Christ whom I have been

yearning to meet in the previous two years.

It was a complete man in the attire of an

Israelite who lived two thousand years ago.Awestruck and delighted, I gazed at him. He

was in a red robe. The inner coat was white.

Within moments the Lord was gone. My

heart was filled with joy.

Now I saw him, Jesus Christ, whom

I had understood as only a historical person,

as the Son of God. When the Lord was gone,

came Holy Virgin Mary in blue attire, her

arms stretched out as in blessing. In an

instant Mother Mary vanished to the right.

Then appeared two angels. They were veryhandsome. Dressed in yellow garbs and

blowing a trumpet (bugle) I could see their

cheeks ebbing and waning quite clearly. How

radiant their eyes were. They were gigantic

beings. Within moments they too were

gone. There arose heaps and heaps of

different types of flowers in front of me.

They too vanished. I saw a place above me

in the skies. I saw many saintly souls alldressed like Jews there in that heavenly light.

They were all rejoicing. Then I heard a voice

in my ears. “Now it is rejoicement in

heaven.”

My eyes were then on a still higher

plane. What I saw next was a place so radiant

that it was beyond human imagination.

There was a legion of angels. Above that was

a place more radiant that the sun. The lightwas moving like waves in the ocean. Below

that were a number of men of gigantic size

with golden complexion. They were big men

taller than normal people. They were stout

and sturdy. Their hands were the size of a

normal man’s thighs. All of them were in

unison raising their eyes to the source of the

light and worshipping God.

After passing through so many other

heavenly experiences, I saw the earth. There

were crores and crores of people like grains

of sand on the seashore. They were all

looking up to the skies. I wondered who they

were and why they were looking up to the

skies. I descended swiftly into their midst.

There was a relative of mine-well known to

“The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,and saves the crushed in spirit’’

(Ps 34:18)




me-hair and beard overgrown and unkempt.

He was absolutely desperate. I knew him as

a teacher who had returned from civil war

stricken Africa, having lost his job,

certificates and all money. It was him whowas then an alcoholic and a nuisance for the

public that the Lord showed me. When I met

him after three months I was astonished to

see him clean shaven, good looking and a

youngster to boot. To my query he replied

that from March onwards his life had

changed.

The people whom I saw in my vision,

lakhs and lakhs of them were in search of God. They were thirsting for God. Later I

understood that it was a great mission given

to me by the Lord to give Jesus to all these

people. I saw this multitude of people two

or three times. While I was having that

vision, the Lord took me to two different

types of places. It was to Israel and Rome.

In my vision I journeyed through Israel. I

saw the hillocks, valleys and also the Jews

living in Jesus’ times. There were Jewish

women fetching water in pitchers in groups.

I still remember the farmers, the goat herds

and all that. The second place was St. Peter’s

Basilica in Rome. I entered the Basilica and

passed through it. Somebody told me that it

was St. Peter’s Basilica. It was in October

2012 that I actually visited the St. Peter’s

Basilica. Along with the St. Peter’s Basilica

the Holy Spirit also showed me the Coliseum

also in the vision. It is as the place where

many Christians were tortured to death that

coliseum is remembered in Christian lore.

Too much Christian blood was shed there.

In 2012 I visited the coliseum as well. It was

Satan’s kingdom that the Lord showed me

next. The army of devils was what I first met.

He has arranged devils as an army in a ready

-to-combat state. Next to that were the

unclean spirits under him. It is a most

despicable and abominable spectacle seeingSatan’s kingdom of devils and unclean

spirits.

The presence of a most despicable

evil spirit-cruelty writ large in its eyes- made

me quite awry. I prayed for it to be over.

Whenever I prayed, it frightened me. My

feeble mind was very much disturbed. As I

was frightened, I got out of the chapel

immediately. It was 11.30 p.m. There was

silence everywhere. I reached my room in

an instant. I was in heavenly bliss for two

hours. Now has the presence of the devil

shattered all that within such a short time?

My mind was very disturbed. I lay

on the bed. I wanted to take a bath. It was a

bath attached room. I did not feel the courage

to go to the bathroom. A myriad of thoughtscrossed my mind. What has happened to

me? How happy I was seeing Jesus, Mother

Mary, the angels and heaven! But why was

it that I saw Satan? Has my mind gone out

of senses? I could not accept it that it was

God himself who showed me Satan and his

kingdom also. I felt it to be some trick. Now

I felt some motion in my room. I sat on the

bed.

There was a relative of mine also in

the room who had come for the retreat. He

was in deep sleep. I saw a motion all on a

sudden. There was Holy Mary in the room,

in the air. Now I saw her in an entirely

different form. There was Rosary in her

hands. It was hanging in her hands. Her




fingers were running over the beads one by

one. When she vanished smiling, it was clear

to me that she wanted me to pray the Rosary.

As I began to pray the Rosary power filled

in me. All my fears were gone. I felt

courageous. After having my bath I sat on

my bed. Even at that time I could feel beams

of light falling on me from heaven. Barely

had I prayed something than I fell into deep

sleep.

The next day I woke up with energy

and vigour. The morning prayers were on

and I was in a different world and having

heavenly visions. By noon I began to havedoubts. Why do I see all these things? These

are not from God. These are the

imaginations of the mind. The Satan is

trying to deceive me. One of the preachers

told me that they were hallucinations, mere

imaginations of the mind. But what I was

seeing were things never seen and heard of.

I thought of my boyhood days. No, I have

not seen these things in drawings or paintings. I lost all faith. Something absurd

has happened to me. I prayed. Save me God.

Those heavenly visions I was having, like a

film on celluloid was over. There was only

darkness in front of me. It was when those

heavenly visions were over that it began to

pain me. When I was having that vision,

there was great peace and serenity in my

mind. Enormous power and strength I had

felt. But it was lost. I felt deep anguish.

Doubts and loss of faith entangled me. By

evening, I had slipped into great despair. I

came in search of God, but everything was

lost.

It was 9.30 p.m. and was the time to

go bed. With an aching heart, I rushed to

the chapel. I was on my knees praying

fervently. “My Lord how happy and

contented I was when I had your vision

yesterday. But today I have nothing. I cannot

believe, Lord. Is it all true? Have mercy on

me God. Please talk to me.” There was no

answer. It was stark darkness- nothing else.

I prayed in all the ways that I knew. I wanted

to know the truth. Was it you my Lord thatI saw? Am I being deceived? I won’t leave

without you talking to me. Even if I have to

kneel on my knees over the whole night, I

won’t go. I made a firm resolve that I will

stay put there throughout the night till dawn.

My God, I have come empty handed having

lost everything and in despair. I came to meet

you. Do not send me back empty handed.




Hardly had I begun the prayer, I had the

vision of a cross. Jesus was nailed to that cross. I

was seeing the cross from the back side. Front

portion was against me. I felt pained. Jesus whom

I saw yesterday is at a long distance and standingagainst me. Lord, are you angry with me? Why do

you stand against me? Jesus I could not believe what

I saw earlier. Please have mercy on me. Now the

crucifix shook and turned facing me and neared

me. It was just three feet from me. It was a big

wooden cross. The Lord lay nailed to the cross with

wounds all over the body, blood oozing out of every

wound.

A big crown of thorns was on His head. The

thorns each with the length of a forefinger, were

pierced deep into the skull. Blood was spilling out

from the head. His hair flowing down to the

shoulders was soaked in blood. I saw vividly blood

dripping out, from His limbs that were nailed to

the cross. I could not control myself. My sobs were

loud. I cried out, “Jesus forgive me, I believe in you,

I believe that you died on the cross for me.”

I told Jesus, “I have lived these many years

for this world. But from now onwards I live for

you only. I surrender myself at your feet. My life

henceforth shall be for you alone. For it will be for

you only’’. I felt a breeze caressing the Lord. Within

moments all the blood stains were gone. Wounds

vanished. The crucifix also vanished. The Lord has

never allowed me to violate the solemn promise that

I gave him that day. He who gave rebirth to me inspirit has emboldened me and gave me the fortitude

to run for him during the past 25 years. During the

past 25 years my faith was tested several times. I

had to pass through many a shattering experience.

I thought of making a full stop. But the Lord, the

crucified One, the vision of the crucified whom I

saw 25 years ago has helped me to stand firm in




my promise. I have to live for my Lord who

died for me.

Before winding up my retreat

experiences, I have to write one more thing.

I saw my ancestors in my heavenly vision.They were able bodied, stout and quite large

sized. They had the complexion of pure

gold. I saw another set of people. They too

were large sized, stout and well built. But

they were all dark, dark like burnt charcoal.

Even after seeing them several times, I could

not make out who they were.

But the next time, I saw them it waslike this. There was a man (of enormous

physical size) standing afar. There was

another one in front of him who resembled

him. There was another man in front of this

man in the same fashion. Likewise there

were thousands and thousands. From the

one standing at the far end, till the first one,

everyone was dark in complexion and ugly

looking. The last man was quite a gigantic

one. The next one was smaller, and the next

still smaller. Thus the first man nearer to me

was almost the size of the present human

being. I was pondering in my mind who

those people were. I was astonished to find

myself as the man in front.

I was standing facing myself, both of

us in the same dress, posture and with thespecs and all that. Though I could not

understand its meaning clearly, I got the

answer at a later date. They were all my

ancestors from Adam till myself. It is the

scheme of God that I am in relation to my

ancestors. Both evil and good are

transmitted to me through them. Sin and

death have come into me .My relationship

to them has never been terminated. The

ancestry detailed in both old and new

testaments certifies to it. They sinned-it has

been the cause of my destruction. But byGod’s grace I have been redeemed. The fruits

of this redemption have to be made available

to my ancestors as well. They may be lost

souls. But I have experienced that as I am the

one called upon by the Lord, if I lead a

sanctified life and pray for my ancestors, the

Lord is willing to give his redemption to even

those who have died never having known

Him at all.

My teachings about the salvation of

souls, curses through the ancestors and all that

I preached have never been the result of my

studies. It was what the Lord taught and

commanded me to teach that I preached. I

am sure that the living God will prove to this

world that all these are truths and truths only.

The dark men whom I saw in the vision wereall people who lived and died in sin. The

cause behind my preaching of the salvation

of souls is not this vision. I will not elaborate

detail on this for the present.

I thank God the father who revealed

to me His Son. I thank God the Father and

the Son who through the Son redeemed me

and gave me the Holy Spirit. I thank LordJesus Christ who made God the Father my

own through the Holy Spirit. I thank Holy

Mary who gave me Lord Jesus. I thank Lord

Jesus for He gave the Holy Mother as my

mother. Thank you Jesus.

Feast of Divine Mercy -

A Treasure for Souls“He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases;

He keeps me from the grave and blesses me with love and mercy” (Psalm 103:3,4).

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy (Mt 5:7)

Mercy is the fulfilment of the unconditional love of Jesus. Mercy is the greatest

attribute of God. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of his

most tender mercy. A correct and elaborate knowledge of God’s mercy is essential for

one’s salvation. Mercy is infinite because it is the perfection of infinite God. Mercy

flows from meditation on the word of God, from the Eucharist which is love greater

than death, and from reconciliation which is love greater than sin. Mercy is revealed in

Chirst crucified and risen which is love greater than sin, death and evil. Mercy is the

programme and mission of Church because it is the programme and mission of the

Christ. Mercy is the content and power of the Gospel and is centred in the Heart of

Jesus and continued in the Heart of Mary. (Adapted from Pope John Paul II, Rich in

Our Lord revealed much about His

Mercy through Saint Maria Faustena

Kowalska (1905-1938). Our Lord named

St.Faustina as His secretary of mercy “You

are the secretary of My mercy. I have chosen

you for that office in this and the next life”

(Diary 1605). And she is entrusted with this

duty “to make known to souls the great mercy

I have for them, and to exhort them to trust

in the bottomless depth of My mercy” (Di-

ary 1567). Revelations of Jesus of Mother

of Mercy and others made to St. Faustina

are published in her diary “Divine Mercy in

My Soul”. The revelations through St.Faustina greatly influenced Pope John Paul

II. The Polish Church has requested the Holy

See to declare St. Faustina a doctor of the

church. Her diary is a vehicle of grace for all

who read it and will know the truth that man-

kind will not have peace until it turns with

trust to God’s mercy.

The Feast of Divine MercyIt ranks first among all the elements

of Divine Mercy devotion revealed to

St.Faustina. The Lord’s will with regard to

its establishment was made known in His

first revelation to the saint. In all, there were

14 revelations concerning this Feast. “I de-

sire that there be a Feast of Mercy. I want

this image which you will paint with a brush,

to be solemnly blessed on the first sunday

after Easter; that sunday is to be the Feast of

Mercy” (Diary 49).

The Feast of Mercy would focus on

God’s mercy as an event. Actually this is a

great event which should be respectfully cel-

ebrated. After commanding Sr.Faustina to

celebrate the Feast of God’s Mercy on the

first sunday after Easter (Diary 280) our

Lord promised that “whoever approaches

the Fount of Life on this day will be granted

complete remission of sins and punishment

(Diary 300). Further our Lord said, “I de-

sire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and

shelter for all souls, especially for poor sin-

ners..... The soul that will go to confession

and receive Holy Communion shall obtain

complete forgiveness of sins and punish-

ment. Let no soul fear to draw near me, even

though its sin be as scarlet.... Mankind will

have no peace until it turns to the Fount of

my Mercy” (Diary 699). It is a feast with

three distinct dimensions - Merciful Love,

Atonement and Covenant.St. Augustine called the eight days of

Easter, referring to the Octave, “days of

mercy and pardon”. Liturgically, these days

constitute a single day or a single celebra-

tion. In a sermon, he then calls the sunday

of this Octave of Easter “the summary of

the days of Mercy”. (Sermo # 156, Dom.in




Albis). Now by the Decree of the Congre-

gation of Divine Worship and the Disci-

pline of the sacraments, the name of this

Liturgical day has been changed to “Second

Sunday of Easter, or Divine Mercy Sun-day”. Pope John Paul II made the announce-

ment of this change in his homily at the can-

onization of Sr. Faustina on April 30, 2000.

There, he declared, “It is important then that

we accept the whole message that comes to

us from the word of God on this second

Sunday of Easter, which from now on

throughout the Church, will be called ‘Di-

vine Mercy Sunday’. By the words “thewhole message”, the Holy Father was refer-

ring to the connection between the “Easter

Mystery of the Redemption”- in other

words, the suffering, death, burial, resurrec-

tion, the ascension of Christ, followed by

the sending of the Holy Spirit - and this Feast

of Divine Mercy, the Octave Day of Easter.

Thus all the elements of the message and

devotion to the Divine Mercy focus on the

Feast of Mercy. Four important points to

remember are (1) Novena starting from

Good Friday (2) Confession (3) Veneration

The Novena

In preparation for the Feast of Di-

vine Mercy, the Lord asked Sister Faustina

to make a novena of prayer from Good Fri-

day to the first Sunday after Easter. “I de-

sire that during these nine days you bring

souls to the fount of Mercy, that they may

draw thenceforth strength and refreshment

and whatever grace they need in the hard-

ships of life, and especially at the hour of

death. On each day, you will bring to my

heart a different group of souls and you will

immerse them in this ocean of my mercy,

and I will bring all these souls into the House

of my Father. You will do this in this lifeand the next. I will deny nothing to any soul

whom you will bring to the fount of My

mercy. On each day, you will beg my Fa-

ther, on the strength of my bitter passion,

for graces for these souls” (Diary 1209).

First Day - All mankind, especially all sin-

ners, and immerse them in the ocean of the

Lord’s mercy.

Second day - Souls of Priests and Religious

Third day - All devout and faithful souls




Fourth day - Souls of all those who do not

believe in Jesus and those who do not yet

know them (Pagans)

Fifth day- Souls of seperated brethren, i.e:

the souls of schismatics and heretics

Sixth Day - Meek and humble souls

Seventh day - Souls especially who venerate

and glorify the mercy of God.

Eighth day - Souls of those who are in the

prison of purgatory.

Nineth day - Lukeworm souls. The soul of

Jesus suffered the most dreadful loathing inthe Garden of Olives because of lukewarm

souls. These souls were the reason for Jesus

to cryout: ‘Father, take this cup from me, if

it be your will”. After bringing the above

mentioned categories of souls on prescribed

days to the most merciful Heart of Jesus we

should recite the chaplet of Divine Mercy.

We should also recite 33 times the prayer.

“O blood and water which gushed forthfrom the Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in

you’, for Holy Father’s intentions. Also pray

the Litany of Divine Mercy. Devotion to the

Divine Mercy is a total commitment to

God, who is mercy itself. “It is a covenant

of mercy, a continuously renewed promise

to trust in the mercy of God and to be mer-

ciful, just as He is merciful” (Fr George W

Kosicki, Now is the Time for Mercy). Know

that a single act of pure love pleases our Lord

more than a thousand imperfect prayers.

The Feast of Mercy would be the fulfilment

of the Old Testament day of atonement. But

unfortunately this great Feast, so pleasing to

God and helpful for our salvation, is ne-

glected by vast majority. Many Catholics are

not even aware of this Feast. This feast

would be a summation of the whole pascal

mystery, capsulizing the graces in the celebra-

tion of the event of His mercy. Ask God for

love and mercy for all who cannot do sothemselves. Entrust everything in the saving

power of His sacred wounds and let every

soul receive healing in his sacred wounds.

Always invoke the precious Blood for our-

selves and for sinners. One day we will dis-

cover with astonishment just how many

souls could be saved through our merciful

love. Please make sure to make this devo-

tion and reap the connected spiritual ben-

efits.

“May you be adored, O merciful God of ours,

O all-powerful Lord and Creator.

In deepest humility, we give you praise,

Plunging ourse lves into the ocean of Your

Godhead,

To give worthy praise to the Lord’s mercy.We unite ourselves with Your immaculate mother,

For then our hymn will be more pleasing to you,

Because she is chosen from among men

and angels.

Through her, as through a pure crystal,

Your mercy was passed on to us.

Through her, man became pleasing to God;

Through her, streams of grace flowed downupon us

Be adored, O our Creator and Lord.

O Universe, humbly glorify your God,

Thank your Creator to the best of your powers

And praise God’s incomprehensible Mercy”.

were spiritual beings were closed and their

external eyes were opened. When they

sinned their spirituality was lost and they saw

themselves naked. So they wanted to run

away from God. In the same way when one

commits a sin his soul is disrobed. This

nakedness of the soul is the reason behind

the most heinous crimes and abominations.

Fear dwells in those who indulge in crime.

They fear the time when they will be captured.

The punishment also frightens them. “There

is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out

fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and

whoever fears has not reached perfection in

love” (1 John 4:18).

The robe of the soul is the grace of

God. One receives grace through baptism in

the first instance. Men who are inheritors of

the Kingdom of Heaven lose this right

through their sins. But the sacrament of

confession gives the christian yet another

opportunity to regain the inheritance to the

Kingdom of Heaven. “A voice cries out: ‘In

the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,make straight in the desert a highway for our

God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and

every mountain and hill be made low; the

uneven ground shall become level, and the

rough places a plain. Then the glory of the

Lord shall be revealed, and all people shall

see it together, for the mouth of the Lord

has spoken” (Is 40:3-5). Sin is not the path

of the Lord. But when the Word of the Lordcomes in to those hearts empty due to sin

all those who have fallen in sins, those who

are in despair, those who are slaves to

different types of selfishness, those who have

not got deliverance from the passions of the

flesh - all those will become free and the

Glory of the Lord will be revealed in them.

It is also certain that God will bless every

sphere of their lives. Every Christian has to

find out for himself the impediments for

God’s glory to be revealed in his life. For that

purpose prayer in solitude is necessary. In

the Book of Lamentations we see “ Let ustest and examine our ways, and return to the

Lord” (Lam 3:40).

Holy Spirit comes as the stream of

Life giving water into the lives of those who

have come to the path of purification in a

complete way. Love of God and love for the

brethren are filled in those who are filled with

the Holy Spirit. God’s charecter is filled in

those who are filled with the love of God.The fruits of the Spirit as in Galatians 5:22

are filled in them. “For if these things are

yours and are increasing among you, they

keep you from being ineffective and

unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord

Jesus Christ. 9For anyone who lacks these

things is short-sighted and blind, and is




forgetful of the cleansing of past sins” (2 Pet

1:8-9).

Worldly men are at times transformed

through renewal retreats and may begin to

lead a spiritual life and even make it tocertain ministries for the Lord. Yet they may

at times behave like men of the world. A

spiritual man is not one who rebounds in

adverse situations. The Word of the Lord

says “Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice,

and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all

slander. 2Like newborn infants, long for the

pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may

grow into salvation”(1 Pet 2:1-2). It is onlythose who have that indwelling of the Holy

Spirit who can talk humbly and have serenity

in their hearts. I remember a parish priest

who now lives a retired life. He was never

seen to be angry or shouting at anybody .All

his good deeds were in private.

Breast milk of the mother is inevitable

for a child’s health and growth. The Word

of the Lord which is the holy and spiritualmilk has to be drunk with thirst for it, by

those who want purification in their lives.

And purification there will be. I remember

an incident. I was to find a young boy -a

fourth standard student- reading the Bible

with utmost attention immediately on

reaching home from school even before

having his evening coffee. He was at the top

in his studies also. One day he entered thechurch along with his mother. There was an

English woman sitting in front of him

dressed improperly. The young boy was seen

redirecting his eyes and drawing the sign of

the cross in his eyes. If purification does not

happen in the spheres of the mind, Word

will not become flesh in your lives.

Purification has to happen in words and

deeds. The word of the Lord will not bear

fruit if there is uncleanliness in the books you

read, the films you see and the songs you

hear .The uncleanliness that comes into us

blinds our spirituality, and our intellect is

filled with darkness and the sanity of the

mind is lost. I was travelling by bus on a

Christmas day. A drunken youth on the road

– his legs tottering –was talking to somebody,

standing very near to the bus. The bus could

not be taken out as it was sure to hit him.

The conductor asked him to move away from

the bus. This young man was fulminating

“If you want, take away your vehicle from

here, or else get lost leaving the vehicle here.”

Liquor had robbed his sanity and his intellect

was not functioning properly. Only those

who have a sane mind can understand reality.

When the intelligent king walking along the

street stark naked trying to test the foolishness

of his subjects and lay bare the emptiness of

their flattery, it was only an innocent boy

who could tell the truth. There was no fear

in his innocent heart. He did not care for

the praise from the king. He did not aspire

to get favours from the king by flattery. It is

only those who are innocent, unblemished

and pure in heart that can stand before the

Lord without losing grace and without being

seen naked before the Lord. “For in this tent

we groan, longing to be clothed with our

heavenly dwelling” (2 Cor 5:2). We shall praythat every Christian who aims at being

clothed with his heavenly abode and who

does not want the nakedness of his soul to

be laid bare and put to shame, should thirst

for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and for

the intercession of holy Mary for the same.

E. George of Chicago told during a press

conference that The next pope must be “very

aware” of the need for vigilance in

preventing clergy sex abuse and accept a

policy of “zero tolerance” as the universal

law of the church. The cardinal, spoke to

journalists on March 4 between sessions of

the first day of pre-conclave meetings at the

Vatican. Asked if he would consider a

candidate’s approach to “sexual misconduct

by clergy” when choosing the next pope,

Cardinal George said “that will be an

important issue” because sex abuse is a

“terrible wound on the body of the church.”

“Whoever’s elected pope,” the cardinal said,

“obviously has to accept the universal codeof the church now, which is zero tolerance

for anyone who has ever abused a minor

child, (who) therefore may not remain in

public ministry in the church. So that has

to be accepted.” “I think that will not be a

problem,” he added. “There’s a deep-seated

conviction, certainly on the part of anyone

who’s a pastor in a diocese, that this has to

be continually addressed.”

The cardinal noted that U.S. bishops

lobbied to make their own zero-tolerance

policy part of the church’s canon law and

convinced bishops’ conferences in other

countries, such as India, to adopt similar

norms. Although the “incidence of abuse is

practically zero right now as far as we can

tell,” the cardinal said, “there are still the

victims. And the wound, therefore, is deep

in their hearts and minds very often, and as

long as it’s with them it’s with all of us, and

that will last for a long time. So the next pope

has to be very aware of this.”

have found what they believe to be a planet-

in-the-making that is still gathering material

left over from the formation of its parent

star.An image from the NACO system on

ESO’s Very Large Telescope shows a

candidate protoplanet in the disc of gas and

dust around the young star HD100546 in a

picture released on March 2, 2013 which was

taken with a special coronagraph that

suppresses the light from the brilliant star andallows the region of the protoplanet to be

seen in great detail. The brightest part of this

picture is the candidate protoplanet and the

dark disc at the bottom hiding the very bright

star itself. The young star known as HD

100546, is located about 335 light years away

in the constellation Musca, or The Fly.

Democracies. Although the fears of the West

have sometimes proven overblown, this

Benedict XVI’s decision to allow a TV

broadcast of the Shroud of Turin on March

30, Holy Saturday, has been lauded by

experts for highlighting the link between the

Shroud and death of Christ.

The Shroud is venerated as the burial

cloth of Christ, and bears a mysterious image

of a man who suffered in a manner

consistent with crucifixion. It is kept in the

Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin,

Italy, and is rarely available for viewing.

The extremely limited access to seeing the

shroud gives the TV broadcast particular

significance. It will be shown internationally

by the Italian public service broadcaster Rai

1.

On March 1, Archbishop Cesare Nosiglia of

Turin announced that as part of the Year of

Faith, he had gotten the consent of Benedict

XVI, prior to his resignation, to have a

worldwide TV exhibition of the Shroud.

“The Shroud of course reminds us of the

passion, death and burial of the Lord and

then to Holy Friday, the day in which the

Church remembers and celebrates the

passion of Christ,” reflected Archbishop

Nosiglia.

“Holy Saturday is a day of silent

prayer and meditation on the Lord’s death,

but it is also a day of joyful waiting of the

light of the resurrection that will explode in

the great celebration of the Easter Vigil.” The

Shroud, he noted, “is a witness of this double

mystery: it brings us back to the darkness of

the tomb, but it also opens the way to receive

the light that from it will emerge, in the event

of the resurrection.” The Holy Saturday

broadcast of the Shroud images is only the

second-ever, with the other occurrence

taking place in 1973. “This is in honor of

the 40th anniversary of the first TV

exposition,” Jackson explained. He added

that the Shroud is a reminder that “the

proclamation of Christ dead, buried and

risen again,” which is at the center of the

Christian mystery. The TV exhibition will

last about an hour, and will be part of a

celebration led by Archbishop Nosiglia.
