PASTOR’S CORNER.

My dear good people of Holy Name and Friends,

How is everybody doing? I hope you are all staying safe, happy and healthy. It’s difficult to be at home for a while but it has proven to be the best way to combat Covid-19. Please try to make this stay at home fun by connecting with friends, your parish community, and family.

Last month, precisely on March 17, 2020, Bishop Spalding made an unprecedented decision. Due to Covid-19, the bishop issued a dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass for two weeks. After reviewing that decision, he has extended the dispensation through April 24, 2020. Therefore, Holy Week, the Triduum, and Easter celebrations are canceled through April 24. Please continue to follow us on Facebook and at our new website: holynamenashville.com

I blessed palms on Friday, April 3, and placed them around the church facility for pickup over the weekend. If you did not receive one, be sure to see my Easter letter which has been mailed to your homes (see also the Bishop’s March 31, 2020 letter online).

Since we will not be celebrating the Easter Triduum together as a family, baptisms for Easter Vigil are postponed until further notice. You will be notified once we resume normal life.

I will continue to use the possibility of live-streaming Mass especially during Holy Week. If the signal does not permit, we will record it and post it to Facebook and the website. So, join us on Holy Thursday at 3pm, Good Friday at 3pm, Holy Saturday at 7pm and Easter Sunday at 8am. Again, if you do not see a live video, know that it will be forthcoming within approximately 2 hours. If you cannot join us, please tune into EWTN or watch Bishop Spalding’s Mass on Easter Sunday at 11:00am, which is to be televised by Fox 17.

I hope these guidelines will help us continue to connect as a parish family as we go through this difficult period. Please be safe and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish you all a blessed Palm Sunday,

Fr. Theo
