Octave (Second Sunday) of Easter ◊ Sunday of Divine Mercy ◊ April 3, 2016

Sweets for the sweet

First Holy Communion is this Satur-

day, April 9 -- a big day for our very

excited young’uns and their fami-

lies! If you'd like to help with the

reception, it would be much appre-

ciated. Let Renée Herbert know if

you can contribute anything, such

as cookies, brownies, finger foods,

chips, dip, etc., or a donation to de-

fray the cost. We could use some

kitchen helpers as well. Call Renée

at 985-630-1121. Merci beaucoup.

From our Pastor

Read the Gospel narratives on the

resurrection of Jesus. They all have

messages of sending believers into

the world, to bring the Good News

into the distress all around us.

Be resurrection people.

Fr. Peter, OSB

Help Center needs...

Next time you’re making groceries,

please pick up a few of the follow-

ing items for the Food Bank:

18- or 42-oz oats (round canisters)

5 oz canned tuna (in water)

16-18 oz peanut butter

Also, you may place a financial

contribution in the regular collec-

tion; just be sure it is clearly

marked. All donations are wisely

utilized and much appreciated.

Ahoy! Thank you for your support!

The Friends of St Francis are grateful for your wonderful turnout

and support for their Fish Fry events. Holy Family parishioners

led the way, but there was great participation by members of

the other churches in town. As soon as the final figures are tallied,

they’ll share them with us.

“Do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

“My Lord and my God!”

today’s Gospel John 20:27-28

”God expects you to touch hearts.”

On April 7, the Church celebrates the memorial of St Jean Baptiste de la

Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers. He lived from 1651-1719, and

possessed a great deal of wisdom that is still helpful today. Here are

some selected quotes:

◊ Throw yourself into God’s arms. He will carry you when the road is rough.

◊ Hold prayer in high esteem. It is the foundation of all the virtues, and

the source of all grace needed.

◊ Your faith should be for you a shining light which guides you in all things.

◊ Fulfill your ministry with all the affection of your heart.

◊ Inspire and lead others by encouraging them. The more loving you are to

them, the greater will be the effects of God’s grace in them.

◊ Preach by example. Practice before the eyes of others what you wish

them to accept.

◊ Wherever I go, I will find you, my God.

◊ God expects you to touch hearts.

Prayer of Offering

I worship you, Lord Jesus,

and I acknowledge you as my God and Master.

Teach me, I beg you, to know you, to love you, and to serve you.

I offer you my day and I resolve to spend it in your love and that of my neighbor.

I will continue, O my God, to do all my actions for the love of you.

~ St Jean Baptiste de la Salle
