FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners,

By now, I am sure that many of you have received my annual appeal letter regarding Project Advance. This weekend we are launching this Campaign 2018. For the next few weeks, we will be asking

each parishioner to make a financial pledge to this most worthwhile endeavour.

This annual campaign provides critical funding to key ministries and projects in our Archdiocese of Vancouver, as well as to our parish. Last year you helped raise $7.3 million as part of all the faithful in Vancouver. Our own parish received $55,583 of this amount to help with the complete renovation of our parking lot.

This year our archdiocesan goal is $62,000. However, we hope to raise at least $100,000. Every penny collected over this $62,000 stays within Holy Cross Parish. What will we put it towards? The reduction of our parish debt – which we have been paying over the past 10 years.

I hope that everyone will consider participating in this year’s Appeal. For more information, please see one of our volunteers at the back of the church in the next few weeks, or visit www.projectadvance.ca to give online.

As mentioned in my letter, together let us continue to “live gratefully and give generously”. May God continue to bless you and your families, as we go forward to achieve our goal.

PREP REGISTRATION - Starting…Tuesday April 24, 2018, registrations will be accepted for Levels 1-7 for classes beginning September 2018. STELLA COMETA - Kenya Project Thank you to all parishioners who made a monetary donation or bought tickets for the fundraising gala to benefit the construction of Upendo House in Machakos, Kenya. Your generosity will greatly benefit the disabled individuals of that community!We invite you to attend the 12:00 Mass on Sunday, April 15 which will be concelebrated by Father Battista. Father Osorio Healing Service - Friday April 27th after Divine Mercy MassThere will be a healing service led by Fr. Osorio after the Divine Mercy Mass on Friday April 27th. Father Nelson Osorio, OSJ, has been in the Healing Ministry since 1993. Fr. Osorio was ordained on September 8, 1999 and presently he is the spiritual director and founder of God’s Healing Foundation Inc. His foundation works in various ministries that answer the needs of the poor like feeding programs, housing projects, and scholarships for education. God’s Healing Foundation recently opened a bakery that supplies bread for 4000 students on a weekly basis.

FIAT - Fiat activities are open to single Catholic women ages 18-35 who are open to discerning God’s call in life. Following the example of Mary, who gave her fiat to be both virgin and mother, we desire to hear and follow God’s call to holiness through discernment of His will for our life and vocation.The next event is Spring Day of Recollection – Called to Fidelity.
