INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

DEAR PARISHIONERS: Are we ready to celebrate our freedom this Monday, July 4th? This day is one of our most treas-ured days as a nation. This is the annual day to celebrate the fact that we can freely cele-brate! Do we ever take time to stop & think about the many freedoms we have in America? Do we often take them for granted? Do we forget about those countless men & women who gave their lives or fought in battles so that we could be free & can continue to be free? This Monday will find many of us getting together at parties, enjoying the company of family & friends. We will visit parks & pools. People will be off work to relax & have fun. That is what July 4th is for---partially, at least. July 4th is also about FREEDOM. We are FREE to assemble & worship. We are FREE from foreign domi-nation. We are FREE to express ourselves in speech. We are FREE to think what we want. We are FREE to vote & elect our leaders. And we have so many more FREEDOMS that many other peoples do not have. And we as Catholics have reasons to celebrate FREE-DOM when it comes to our faith. We are FREE from the power of sin & death thanks to Jesus & His Passion & Death.. We are FREE from despair, thanks to the Resur-rection of Jesus & the promise of eternal life. Let us find ourselves giving thanks this July 4th through communal worship & private prayer. Let us con-tinue to find ourselves at the Lord’s Table by coming to Mass, receiving the best food & drink possible---the Lord’s Body & Blood. Happy July 4th! May we pause & give thanks for our country. May we defend & be proud of America. May we strive to make our country a more peaceful, just, tol-erant, & faith-filled nation.

YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE

P.S. From July 7-13 I will be on vacation. If you need a priest, please call Fr. Rick at OLOL, 877-4404. P.P.S. WELCOME to Deacon Michael Friedel, who will be our deacon for the next two months. We are so happy to have him here at HF! He is from Holy Angels parish in Wood River, IL, & is currently studying at the North American College in Rome. How fortunate we are to have him assigned to our parish. Please introduce yourselves to him & pray for him as he continues his studies in Rome this fall. He will be or-dained a priest this coming May in Spring-field. We’re glad you are here, Deacon Michael!

The Claretians were founded in 1849 by St. Anthony Claret, a Spanish missionary. This community now numbers more than 3000, who can be found in more than 63 countries around the world. They strive to respond to the needs of the poor, as well as im-migrants, youth, & families. Please be generous in re-sponse to Fr. Brummel.

WELCOME to Fr. Steve Arisman, the new pastor of OLHS & St. Isidore! We are glad to have him in our area & deanery. NOTE: Sunday Mass at OLHS is now at 8:30 a.m. & at St. Isidore on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., effective this weekend.

EVER THOUGHT OF BEING A PRIEST? God maybe calling you at this very moment to serve Him by being a priest for the Diocese of Springfield. Our Catholic Church needs more people to answer His call to priesthood. If you may be interested, please call Fr. Joe at 423-6223.
