Read the first eight stories from your Supplementary Reader ’15
Short Stories’.
Write the summary of the story you like the best, in about 150- 200
words.
Make a Book Jacket of that story (A 4 size) and put the summary in
it.
II
Choose and cut any 3 pictures from any newspaper / magazine.
Let your imagination and creativity flow. Paste each on a separate A-
4 size coloured sheet.
Write a story related to each picture (120-150 words).
Observe the picture carefully and write what is happening,
description of the characters in the picture, what may have happened
before and what might happen later.
Literature:
III Jack, from poem ‘Problem Solving’, is just like any other child. How
do you identify yourself with Jack? If you were in his place, what
resolution would you make to improve yourself?
IV In what ways does Tenzing Norgay inspire you? Write about all his
qualities that inspire you and mention which of those would you like
to imbibe in yourself and why?

Students are to present the following activities In a SCRAPBOOK.
1. Take any 10 phone numbers and do the following :
a) Arrange them in ascending and in descending order
b) Find factors of last two digits of all 10 phone numbers taken.
c) Take third digit of every phone number and write 5 multiples of
each
2. Take randomly pin codes of 10 different cities and check their
divisibility by 2, 3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11.
3. Find out population of 10 metro cities and write it in Indian and
International system of numeration.
4. Visit nearby stationary shop, make a list of at least 5 items purchased
(name, quantity, price) . Find out the total bill generated. Also find
the amount paid and the remaining balance you will get back.
5. Make a grid of 10*10 units and find out the HCF of following
numbers :
( one eg is : suppose we have to find HCF of 24 ,28 and 36 . Make
three different grids of 10*10 and circle factors all three numbers
separately on three different grids by different colors, and then at the
end find out the HCF from all those common factors)

This is about Analog clocks and the angles made by the hands of the
clock. Lets learn about angles and how they're measured.
a) How many of this angle are there in a complete turn?
b) Complete the following table (give the smaller angle in each case):

SCIENCE
A. Make a power point presentation of 7-8 slide on the topic
‘Forests –nourish clean air’.
It should include forest cover, type of flora and fauna, ecological
balance created by forests.
B. ‘The best way of learning about anything is by doing’.
Keeping that perspective in mind, perform following activities and
note down the observations: (Refer to activities given by CBSE)
1. Nutrients
To find out the nutrients present in different packed food (health
drinks)
Collect 5 packed items that are available in market. Eg. Bournvita
Etc)
Make a list of nutrients found in them.
Find out the amount of each of the nutrients present in them.
Note down your observations.
From your observations, find out which food items are good or not
good for your health?
2. Role of different nutrients
To identify the nutrients, present in different foods and as per the
function they perform.
Write names of nutrients present in 5 different fruits and vegetables
(sources of food).
Paste the pictures of different sources of nutrients.
Categorize different sources into these groups as per the function
they perform
o Body building
o Energy giving
o Protective food
Now plan the diet chart for (i) Growing children, (ii) Old
grandparent.
Also mention the importance of each nutrient.
3. Staying Healthy the Cheaper way
Search internet/any other sources and find out easily available local,
cheaper alternative food items that can be included in diet to make it
whole some and easily affordable.
E.g.: Expensive dry fruits/nuts can be replaced by groundnuts,
chestnut
etc.
Easily available chutney can replace expensive apple
Value based – Inform your helping hands (maid, sweepers etc) about
these food that help to stay healthy.
C. Revise and learn the chapters covered so far for periodic Test.
General Instructions:
1. You must file all the given activities in a single file. You could either get
it spirally bound or tie all sheets with a ribbon. Use punched ruled plain/
colored/ ruled A 4 size sheets.
2. Mention your name, class, and section on first page.
3. The activities should be handwritten. Neat work must be done.
4. It should be well presented, researched and pictorial.
5. Your activity file must have a cover page, table of contents,
acknowledgements, and bibliography.
6. Submit the soft coy of power point presentation online at
[email protected] or hard copy of only two pages with 4 slide on one
page. Power point presentation should not exceed the limit of maximum 8
slides.

SOCIAL SCIENCE
Design editorial cartoons or comic strips on an A4 sheet that focus on
social issues like gender equality, freedom of speech, discrimination,
prejudices, stereotypes, our rights and duties etc. Through newspaper
clippings also show how they are still existent today. Paste 10-15 newspaper
clippings and write your views in a paragraph of 80-100 words.
