Employee of the MonthOctober 2012
Jose Luis Rodriguez(Marisu’s Message Corner)

2012 Halloween
Pumpkin Contest Winner
Jose Luis Rodriguez!
Jose Luis Rodriguez came to The Athenaeum with 21 years of experience from the Millennium Biltmore hotel. Over the last 10 years, his responsibilities include the garde manger station of our kitchen along with food preparation for a la carte and banquet dining. He enjoys assisting Chef Kevin at the monthly Cooking Classes as a means to learn from the best. Jose has become such a valued employee, earning Employee of the Month several times and even taking the grand title of Employee of the Year in 2007 and in 2009.
Adding to Jose’s list of Athenaeum honors, he also won our annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest. Jose took home the grand prize with his three-sided pumpkin carving that wowed member voters. Carving pumpkins, fruit, and ice are very much a hobby for Jose and one he greatly excels at. He is often the creator behind The Athenaeum’s ice and fruit displays at our buffets and kids Junior Chefs’ night.
Jose and his wife, Maria have been married for 27 years and live in East L.A. with their two grown daughters Claudia and Vanessa. Two months ago they welcomed a new family addition, a beautiful granddaughter named Aubrey. The Rodriguezs are looking forward to celebrating the holidays together as a family and enjoying their first trip to Las Vegas over the Thanksgiving weekend.

‘Tis the Season for GivingAs 2012 is coming to an end, it is a wonderful time to make a charitable contribution to the preservation of The Athenaeum’s legacy. A year-end gift is a great way to significantly reduce your income taxes while providing meaningful support for the ongoing improvements of the club. Your donation makes an important difference in what we are able to accomplish in providing you the meaningful services and experiences you have come to expect from The Athenaeum over the years. The Athenaeum Architectural Preservation Fund has been established to finance refurbishment and renovation projects of our facilities for years and generations to come. This endowment may be funded by outright gift such as cash, securities, or real estate, and via planned gifts. With your support, we can build a permanent endowment for the purpose of preserving and enhancing the extraordinary legacy of this prestigious club. For more information on how to give please contact General Manager, Marisu Jimenez at (626) 395-8260 or [email protected].
