MINI Explorer Courses (Boys & Girls aged 4 or 5yrs)

Our Mini Explorer courses take place in our purpose built Pre-Prep building which is resourced specifically for 4-5 year olds. This is a secure building with intercom entry. It has wet and dry indoor play areas and an outdoor play area with a climbing frame and soft cushioned floor. Activities also take place on the School Field and in the Prep Hall and Gym. We adhere to OFSTED ratios of 1 adult : 8 children.

Cost: £100 per week or £28 per day

These courses have been designed to let children express themselves with developmental activities in a positive and nurturing environment. The emphasis is to have fun and for the children to develop confidence through active participation. Sports and gymnastics sessions (in which children will use different equipment) will enable them to learn about spatial awareness, competition and body movement. As well as the physical activities advertised, there will be quieter moments with sand and water play, parachute play, games, songs and story time. Art and Craft activities will ensure that there is plenty to take home.

Children will also have an opportunity to play in the role play area and use the outside climbing frame. They will also have great fun learning how to become a safe driver with Go-Karting one session a week*.

Insurance:

Birkenhead School does not insure pupils on the courses against illness, theft

or loss of personal effects. The School has cover in respect of claims arising

under the terms of its Public Liability Policy where the School is legally liable.

This would not cover, for example, injuries occurring without fault on the part

of the School or its staff and you are advised to take out your own personal

accident insurance if you wish to cover such risks. Similarly, you are advised

to effect your own insurance in respect of anything brought to the School by

your child. No liability will attach to the School or its staff for the damage to or

the loss or theft of any property whether arising as a result of negligence or

otherwise.

Safeguarding Children:

Birkenhead School recognises that it has an explicit duty to safeguard

and protect children from abuse as defined in the Children Act 2004 and

the Education Act 2002. Teachers /staff can and must contribute to the

safeguarding of children and the child protection process. Our policy applies to

all staff, governors and volunteers working in the School. There are three main

elements to our child protection policy.

a. Providing a safe environment for children/young people to learn in.

b. Fostering a school environment in which every child/young person feels

valued and able to articulate their wishes and feelings in their preferred

method of communication in an atmosphere of acceptance and trust.

c. Identifying and responding to children/young people in need of support

and/or protection.

This policy is in accordance with Wirral’s Local Safeguarding Children’s Board

Child Protection Procedures and the Government document Working Together

to Safeguard Children. The whole policy can be viewed on our website:
