A Declaration Of Independence

Holden’s philosophy has always been to create something high quality

and perfectly unique, and to build long-lasting relationships with our

customers. We’ve recently agreed to end a six-year relationship with

our former distribution partner and are now running 100-percent

independently, with the company’s founders at the helm. We’re taking

the same painstaking attention to detail we learned to apply into our

garment design and production and applying it to our service and

distribution—our goal is to achieve a business practice that’s personal,

passionate, and completely professional.

Holden has a purpose beyond profits and mass production.

We’re trying to truly add something to this world by creating products

that make people happier and healthier — whether that’s through

our sustainable business and production practices, or simply creating

excellent, enduring products that bring joy to people’s lives.

Evolving Our Environmental Commitment

Since its inception, Holden has operated from the inside out with

environmental consciousness. From creating to improving upon the

original “eco-friendlier” performance hemp-fiber fabric to using the

environmentally minded Schoeller® C_Change™ 3-layer technology,

we are 100% devoted to evolving the eco niche we helped pioneer.

Over the years, Holden has done more than simply establish

a token “green collection” in our line — we’ve committed to making

every single product possible with sustainability in mind. In fact,

for 09/10 we’ve expanded our eco-minded technologies to 90% of

the product line, including the lower price Classics range. We

make improvements absolutely anywhere we can, from implementing

recycled zippers and insulation to automatically offering a DWR

(a water-repellant fabric coating) that’s PFOA-free (PFOA is a toxic

byproduct of waterproofing materials). We even package our

products in fully biodegradable, acetate ethylene bags.

However, we know producing anything creates some sort of waste

along the way. All we can do is keep striving to be “eco friendlier”

and partnering with vendors and retailers who are doing the same.

Our consumers can still trust that when they buy Holden, they’re

getting real quality and supporting people who’re doing the best they

can to keep our environment a happy, healthy place.

5. GRADIENTThis lightweight polyester fabric features a tight weave with

a subtle tonal gradient stripe throughout. It has a textured

hand feel with a matte finish. It is treated with a PFOA-free

80/20 DWR which drastically cuts down on the harmful emissions

typically associated with this process. It is rated for 10,000 mm

waterproofness and 5,000 g/m2 breathability.

6. OXFORDThis heavy-weight nylon oxford weave has a nice military look

with a natural hand feel. It features a PU microporous coating

and has a 10,000 mm waterproofness and 5,000 g/m2 breatha-

bility rating.

7. TWILLThis mid-weight nylon twill weave fabric has a soft hand feel

and a classic workwear appearance. It features a 2-layer

microporous coating and 10,000 mm waterproofness and

5,000 g/m2 breathability.

8. SHANTUNGA nylon/poly blend fabric provides a look that can be described as

elegant with a silky hand feel. Features TORAY Dermizax™ non-

porous laminate of 20,000 mm waterproofness and 10,000 g/m2

breathability.

9. DOBBYThis mid-weight fabric is made from 100% recycled polyester

yarn. It has a soft hand feel with a slight sheen and is very durable.

Featuring a performance of 10,000 mm waterproofness and

5,000 g/m2 breathability with a microporous coating and an

ECO DWR finish.

exceptional water and windproofness. C_Change™ reacts to

changing environmental temperatures and to body tempera-

tures by expanding and contracting accordingly to either keep

out cold, or let excess heat and moisture out of the garment.

This 3-layer fabric is also the only eco-friendly option for

3-layer technology we know of in the world. The C_Change™

membrane also meets the Bluesign® standard, this guarantees

the highest possible exclusion of substances which are harmful

to humans or the environment, as well as the most ecological

2. KEVLAR BRA heavyweight oxford fabric which features a textured hand feel

and is incredibly durable due to its 7% Kevlar material content.

This fabric also utilizes a special treatment process to enhance

the brightness of the color finish. Kevlar BR features TORAY

Dermizax™ lamination with a performance of 20,000 mm

waterproofness and 10,000 g/m2 breathability and a 80/20

PFOA-free DWR.

3. HEMPComprised 55% hemp and 45% recycled PET polyester. It has

a soft hand feel and a linen look. Hemp by nature is extremely

durable and the use of recycled PET polyester from plastic bottles

adds stability to the fabric without creating much pollution. The

fabric is laminated with a solvent free laminate to reduce stress

on the environment and workers applying it in its production.

Hemp also features a flurocarbon-free DWR, this drastically

cuts down on the emissions that traditional DWR applications

cause. It is rated for 10,000 mm waterproofness and 10,000 g/m2

breathability.

4. GINGHAMA lightweight nylon with a very tight weave. It’s extremely water

repellent and has a textured hand feel. Features a solvent-

free laminate of 10,000 mm waterproofness and 10,000 g/m2

breathabiltity. The solvent-free lamination reduces stress on the

environment and workers applying it in its production.

and accessories focused on high-quality elements and functionality.

We’re constantly evolving and creating entirely original designs

that you won’t see anywhere else on the market.

Holden continues to work closely with in-house experts to perfect

our highly recognized “Holden fit,” and we still develop much of our

own fabric, instead of just picking it out of pre-made fabric books

like most of our competition. From start to finish in our design

process we attempt to use the finest elements available to provide key

features like advanced waterproofing and breathability, sustain-

able products and processes, and one-of-a-kind cuts and fabrics

without superfluous trademarking, advertising, or added cost. The

Holden line is about the love of the craft and we think the difference

speaks for itself.

an organic surface texture. This fabric is very durable and fea-

tures a microporous coating of 10,000 mm waterproofness and

5,000 g/m2 breathability, as well as a PFOA-free water repellency.

ronment that traditional DWR applications cause.

11. DENIMThis mid-weight nylon/poly broken twill has proven to be

very durable for years. It has a matte finish and a rough hand

feel. Features 10,000 mm waterproofness and 5,000 g/m2

breathability with a microporous coating and a PFOA-free

water repellency finish. This drastically cuts down on harmful

emissions into our environment that traditional DWR

applications cause.

12. NATIVE PRINTThis mid-weight polyester fabric has horizontal slubs creating

an organic surface texture and is printed with a beautiful Native

print made by a French printmaker in the 1920’s. Featuring a

microporous coating of 10,000 mm waterproofness and 5,000

gm/2 breathability and an 80/20 PFOA-free DWR finish. This

drastically cuts down on harmful emissions into our environment

that traditional DWR applications cause.

13. STRIPE PRINTThis mid-weight polyester fabric has horizontal slubs creating

an organic surface texture and is printed with our popular classic

stripe pattern. Featuring a microporous performance coating

of 10,000 mm waterproofness and 5,000 g/m2 breathability.

It is finished with a 80/20 PFOA-free DWR. The use of a PFOA-

free DWR drastically cuts down on the harmful emissions that

traditional DWR applications cause.

NanoSphere® DWR (A true Nanotech DWR technology): The most repellent DWR in

the world. Nature’s phenomenal “self-cleaning principle” applied to textiles. Nature

leads the way: The leaves of certain plants and the wings of insects always stay

clean because dirt and water cannot adhere to their structured surface. Nanotech-

nology is considered a key future technology. As a result of the nano-particles, the

surface of the textile is given a fine structure which easily repels water and dirt.

The patented NanoSphere® finishing technology meets the high requirements of

the Bluesign® standard.

The Recco Rescue System is a simple way to increase the safety of skiers and rid-

ers by providing a basic rescue system. The advanced technology allows organized
