This joint meeting is a mentoring and two-way sharing opportunity for current and future HLABC members – a special opportunity to meet and mingle with each other in-

Devon’s presentation: http://prezi.com/rvzb_icbmvfu/making-change-with-informationresearch/
“…thanks for facilitating the evening of brief talks on Tuesday. It was lovely to see several familiar HLABC faces and get caught up with people…and to meet some up & coming health librarians …as
always, you seem to have a crackerjack crew of students. I look forward to seeing where they go and what they do in coming years…”
COMMENTS ABOUT OUR JOINT MEETING
Andrea: “…I had such a nice time presenting & chatting with students, fellow librarians. …it's a pleasure getting us in the same room …I welcome the opportunity to have regular sessions to hear what other librarians are doing …something as informal as chatting over a pint or 2 …I feel some of my best learning comes from casual interactions like these.”
LIBR534 student: “I found the Shared Innovation night informative, motivating & inspiring/encouraging & supporting…
It was so great and interesting I felt like our 'gathering' ended too soon. I would have stayed longer…”
LIBR534 student: “I really enjoyed all of the talks
and found them useful and informative. Andrea and Devon's talks, in particular, gave me hope
that there are ways into health librarianship that are non-
traditional and circuitous.…”
LIBR534 student: “…it was extremely valuable to hear about jobs & life paths but
also different workplaces …. few [of our] classes have ever tried it.
Without it, I would be less equipped to plan my future..…”
MORE COMMENTS …
Greg: “…I had many interesting, pleasant quiet conversations, particularly with Devon and Doug. Andrea – I apologize for not tracking you down for a chat. I am always in awe of your quiet charm and considerable ability. Sharon, from what I saw last night, UBC Library has found a gem in bringing you on. “
Linda: “…I had so much fun! For those working in the field,
it’s fun to be a student for a couple of hours!”
LIBR534 student: “Thank you for organizing a fabulous evening! I really enjoyed
the event. You had a wide range of librarians there, each of them having a variety of experience. I don't know if it was my
eyes but some presentations were hard to see--mainly the screenshots. “
LIBR534 student: “I really enjoyed the joint HLABC/LIBR 534 class ... I particularly liked the "lightning talks" format which allowed me to get a broad view of the types of jobs/projects that different health librarians are doing. It was a nice mix of newer grads (who could give perspective on
job trajectories/options available for those starting out) and more experienced health librarians. That really worked for me. “
LIBR534 student: “…I really enjoyed the entire evening. The librarians
were very welcoming. I feel these tentative steps have made me feel more comfortable in my own
skin…”

Greg: “…I encourage you to look at the article linked here – bask in these remarkable qualities which were also quite evident from hearing about your experiences.
