Get an overview of some of the basic layout in Hindenburg. All the tools you need are at hand. There are no modes or specialtools needed for creating a great audio production. Hindenburg is a dock-able program so additional features can bedocked to the interface - e.g the Call Recorder, Favorites orChapters. See the Step by Step for a overview.

Waveforms

The waveforms in Hindenburg are rectified waveforms. In short this gives you double the amount of information aboutthe audio than regular waveforms. As standard the waveforms have different shades of color. Thelightest color is the peaks - the darkest color is the RMS value …how loud it sounds

“Auto level” is applied to all audio that is imported into theworkspace.Music and narration are individually detected.Narration is set 2 dB louder for more presence. The levels are based on Loudness EBU R128  Auto Level preferences can be set in the audiooptions/preferences  -EU-UK-US 

Cmd + L“Manual Auto level” is used for letting Hindenburg adjust thelevels os selected audio. When you import audio into the workspace, Hindenburg willadjust the levels for the entire region/clip.After editing the audio (this could be an interview) it isrecommended to adjust the levels for the individual regions.Selects all the edited regions and manually apply”manual autolevel”.  Now Hindenburg will set the correct broadcast level for theindividual regions/clips.

The Voice Profiler is a unique tool for creating consistent soundfor narration.The Hindenburg PRO series can take a “snapshot” of your idealsound. This profile can later be applied to new recordings forconsistent sound. The Hindenburg PRO series will nowdynamically create a equalization that to best match your ideal“snapshot” This way the journalist can work under any conditions -  in theoffice, a hotel or plane - still create broadcast sound. Hindenburg also has a Generic setting that can be applied to allvoices for that “broadcast” sound. The Generic setting is available in the entire Hindenburg series.

Function Shortcut Description

Choose trial version Hindenburg / Registration key ... You can switch between using the features in HindenburgJournalist & Hindenburg Journalist PRO in the menu“Registration Key”.

Record from internet Preferences / audio / record Record audio from the internet.

Punch In Recording Cmd + Spacebar Stop the recording - rewind and Punch in to re-record.

Pick Up Recording Cmd + Spacebar Place the playhead and hear a pre-roll before recording

Multitrack recording ctrl + spacebar Record to multiple tracks

Loudness export Cmd + E Set up the audio export with loudness normalization.

Publish using loudness Cmd + U Set up the Publish export with loudness normalization. Setup different publish targets with different loudness levels.
