Good evening and welcome to the Hilton Glasgow Annual Foundation Ball – The Red Party! We are so pleased to have you here with us on

what we hope will be a very special evening for us all.

Your support this evening will help us to make a huge difference to the lives of sick and disadvantaged children in the Glasgow area, as well as across Scotland. The money raised from this evening will go to a dedicated fund for local children overseen by our charity, DM Thomas Foundation for Young People (formerly the Hilton in the Community Foundation), and our partners this year, Cash for Kids. The two charities have come together to help our vulnerable local children and your generous support this evening will ensure that we can provide them with the equipment, training, support and care that they need.

I would also like to personally thank the Ball Committee, made up of representatives from Hilton Worldwide hotels across Scotland, who have volunteered their time and who have once again worked incredibly hard to make this evening what it is.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your generous support. Without your help we wouldn’t have such wonderful prizes, table sales and in-kind donations, and once again we have been overwhelmed by your generosity. Thank you for helping us to change the lives of sick and disadvantaged young people and children. I hope you have a fantastic evening.

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People* is a grant-giving body which distributes funds to charitable causes across Europe. Focussing on

children and young people, the Foundation supports activities through targeted grant-giving in education and health to relieve suffering and provide individuals with opportunities they might otherwise be denied.

Under our ABLE banner we promote access to education and the improvement of health care for young people through the provision of opportunities, equipment and training, and we seek to make a big difference to those young people within our local communities who need our help.

Under our ABLE banner we fund projects that help young people aged 0-25 to Achieve It, Beat It, Live it and Experience It. We believe that every young person should be ABLE to achieve their best potential, whether this means taking part in an adventure camp to build confidence, receiving training and guidance to secure employment, or having access to the mobility that they need.

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People benefits from the support of the team at Hilton Glasgow, who work hard throughout the year to raise money and to find ways to support the Foundation’s work in Scotland. We are dependent entirely upon their enthusiasm, generosity and hard work and are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters.

Founded in 2000, the Foundation has raised and distributed over £15 million in grants to more than 1,300 charities, including schools, youth clubs, hospices, hospitals and many other projects which help disadvantaged young people. We have provided training so that young people can find employment; we have helped to build the confidence

of young people so that they re-engage with the education system and work towards their aspirations; and we have provided sports equipment, support and fun experiences for young people with disabilities so that they can improve their skills and feel an integral part of society. None of this would be possible without the generosity of people such as you, who continue to support our charity events.

George Bowie joined Radio Clyde in 1988 before taking up the role of breakfast

presenter in 1996. Almost twenty years later, the enthusiasm remains to be the voice that the people of Glasgow and the West wake up to!

Not just a breakfast presenter, George is one of Glasgow’s favourite sons with the legendary GBXperience dance show filling the airways on Saturday nights as well as clubs across Glasgow and the West.

A staunch supporter of Cash for Kids, George’s commitment to the charity is unwavering, culminating in a sold out show at the Barrowlands in 2014 with all proceeds going to the charity.

George will go down as one of Radio Clyde’s most popular DJ’s of all time.

Pictures Specialist and General Valuer at McTear’s, Natasha Raskin’s interest in the

arts was sparked from a young age.

Born in 1986 in Glasgow into a family of art lovers and collectors, a degree in the History of Art and French at Glasgow University cemented a love for all things aesthetically pleasing. Paintings, sculpture, beautifully-crafted bespoke jewellery and, truth be told, anything Art Nouveau and Art Deco are all right up Natasha’s street, so it’s no surprise that her enthusiasm for her role at McTear’s, which sees her dealing with all of the above on a daily basis, shines through.

One of McTear’s six auctioneers (four of whom are feisty females!) Natasha enjoys nothing more than selling the items that she has valued, catalogued (and coveted) from the rostrum. Cringe-worthy puns and fits of the giggles are

all par for the course but, with around 500 lots per sale to share between them, the auctioneers at McTear’s have all got to have their unique way of keeping the buyers smiling.

Natasha is regular ‘expert’ contributor on BBC’s Bargain Hunt and had a whale of a time Antiques Road Trip-ping around the South West of England with the much-loved (and very naughty!) Charlie Ross. Filming for an upcoming Antiques Road Trip will commence in March...but you’ll have to wait to find out who she’s been paired with this time!

Natasha has served as auctioneer for several charities at countless high profile events, including the world’s largest, Guinness World Record - approved, Burns Supper hosted by Glasgow’s Lord Provost and Councillor Sandie Docherty.

Glasgow girl Cassi has presented travel on Bowie@Breakfast since 2014. Providing

the ying to George’s yang, Cassi’s natural care-free way has made her a popular voice on the show.

Working her way up from the Clyde 1 street team, Cassi knows Clyde 1 and Glasgow inside out! She is a lover of dance music and has

followed in George’s footsteps by DJ’ing around the city and on the famous Bowie on the Boat trips to Amsterdam.

Cassi is one of the friendliest and outgoing individuals you’ll meet and is a credit to the Clyde 1 family who are proud to call her one of their own.
