TRANSCRIPT
We welcome the Mayor of London’s support for our argument that the proposed HS2
route through this Borough will cause significant environmental and social disadvantages
and that Hillingdon residents gain NO benefit from HS2. The current business case for the
project is weak and the cost will as a minimum, be equal to £51million for each constitu-
ency. Keep up to date with proceedings at www.highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk or the council
website www.hillingdon.gov.uk

GREEN LIGHT
The traffic lights and pedestrian
crossing at the junction of Long Lane
and the A40 are now complete.
Following consultation with TfL,
OFRA, the council and your
Conservative Councillors, the
construction is complete and with a
little tweaking the junction and traffic
is now running a lot better. Residents
can now enjoy shorter journeys and
less stress. We have had comments
such as ‘thank you’, ‘at last’ and
‘Long Lane is a lot better now’.
Now you see it..
RYEFIELD AVENUE DEVELOPMENTS Despite opposition from the majority of
residents and your local ward councillors
the new costcutter store is now open.
Revised plans were refused by the council
but the applicant exercised their right to
open in the existing building. There are
some outstanding issues which we are
continuing to monitor to ensure they
abide by all the regulations. Cllr. Tim
Barker said “We are monitoring the
situation including the issue of anti-social
behaviour, and hope the store can run
alongside the existing shops, which we
hope you will continue to support”.

CARING AND CAMPAIGNING FOR OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
RIGHT: WALK FOR CHARITY Councillor Pat Jackson recently participated
in a Charity walk for the Royal British Legion
where she had the privilege of meeting local
Resident and former Solider Ryan Byrne.
Ryan served our Country for 10 years, in
Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq before
suffering bomb blast injuries.
Despite his injuries Ryan completed the
whole 27 miles of the walk with both Cllr
Jackson and other local residents and is a
credit to our Armed Forces.
ABOVE: SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS Wayne, Pat and Tim recently attended the Oak
Farm School fete in Windsor Avenue where they
met many local residents and their children.
The Mayor of Hillingdon Cllr Mary O’Connor also
took time out of her busy schedule to visit the
fete. Tim was particularly pleased as he did not
leave empty handed after winning a coconut!
LEFT: £50K SECURED FOR CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND Wayne, Pat and Tim have recently
secured £50,000 for the refurbishment
of the Children's Playground in Pole Hill
Park after applying for a Chrysalis bid at
the beginning of the year. Residents are
now being consulted on how they would
like the money to be spent. The
councillors recently spent a morning at
the park doing a litter pick and even
found some time to do a bit of
gardening!
