We are currently experiencing issues with our phone lines. These are being looked at by the Telco company. If you do call into the school and the line goes dead, please could you redial.

We apologies for the inconvenience.

Sickness

Please be aware we have had a significant increase in absence due to illness amongst pupils. If your child is unwell, please

ensure they are fully better before returning to school to stop further infection.

The linked booklet “Protective Behaviours Parent Resource” has been prepared by the Education Department as

a guide for parents and carers. The booklet will provide information on how to help your child

develop skills of assertiveness, self-confidence, problem solving, communication, resilience and help seeking through activities and discussions and reflect aspects of the Protective

Nature Play Temporary Closure

Since opening our nature-play areas around the school, many children have enjoyed exploring, creative play, and safe risk-

taking opportunities. The children have enjoyed building diverse structures and have learnt the importance of sharing

resources, compromise and teamwork.

As a result of this success, there has been one negative and this has been the impact on the environment. Much of the

undergrowth that holds the sloping banks in place have been damaged and therefore needs time to rejuvenate during the winter months.

Both nature-play areas are now closed. We will monitor the

nature-play environments throughout this time and re-open them once they have recovered.

Faction Cross Country -Friday June 14

Despite a wild weather start to our week, it's looking like we will have fine weather for our cross country event this Friday.

All students from year 1-6 will be involved and everyone who finishes the race

will earn valuable points for their faction.

Races will begin at 9.30 am with the Year 1 students; girls followed by boys, and then progress through the year levels. Each event will take between 5 and 10

minutes. As a rough guide only we are aiming to race the Year 1-3’s between 9.30 and 10.35 (recess) and then complete Year 4-6 between 11.15 and

12.20pm.

Please be aware that although we will endeavour to keep to this agenda, there may be unforeseen circumstances e.g. inclement weather, which requires a change of plan. Please be aware that we cannot be held to these times.

Students are reminded to wear their faction shirts, shorts/skirts and suitable running shoes. Good luck to all competitors.

Lightning Carnival- Thursday 27th June @ Kingsway Sporting Complex,

Madeley

Selections for the Lightning Carnival are almost complete. Selected students from years 5 & 6 will receive an information note by the end of this week.

All selected students are required to return $6 to cover the bus by Friday 21st

June. Please note that ONLY new students to the school or those who have an Emergency Action Plan or new parent contacts are required to return the permission form.

All students returned a Multiple Excursion Form in March earlier this year that covers the event.

Power Pack and Marathon Club

Sessions this week will only be run if it is not raining. Please note that Power Pack will NOT be run on Friday morning as Mrs Armstrong will be preparing for

the Faction Cross Country.

State Team Selections continue

Congratulations to Eli G from C3 for being selected to represent WA in the

National Diving Skills competition in Brisbane at the beginning of July.

The Hillarys PS community wish her all the best for the event.

Fun without the sun! – Camp Australia

Need some help coming up with ideas on what to do with the children this

rainy season? Well, at Camp Australia, we’re experts at having fun, regardless

of what’s happening with the weather. Rain, hail or shine we always have

something fun for the children to participate in!

Recent events:

We had an amazing incursion last week. We were very privileged to receive a visit from

St John’s Ambulance. Lisa taught the children how to recognize and what to do in an

emergency. She even brought the ambulance with and explained all the gadgets inside

the ambulance to the children.

Future events:

If weather permits, we will receive a visit on Thursday from Whitfords Sea Rescue. They

will be talking to the children about the work they are doing as well as giving us a

demonstration on the different emergency flares used when in danger while out on the

ocean.

Holiday Club:

The Holiday Club program is available at our service and the bookings are open. It is a

fun packed program for each child to enjoy.

If you would like to learn more about how we operate our OSHC service,

please visit before or after school and your Coordinator will be available to

answer any questions.

If you prefer to call us, you can contact our Customer Care on 1300 105

343. The team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except National

Public Holidays).

We look forward to seeing you in service soon!
