It is tax time again!AARP tax volunteers will prepare simple tax returns at the Levy Center. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide helps low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to persons age 60+. Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms and certain schedules, including Form 1040. Taxpayers with complex returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance; this also will be the case when counselors feel they do not have adequate training or knowledge. Ninety-minute appointments are available on Tuesdays from 9am-noon and 1–4pm begin February 7, and on Fridays from 9am-noon and 1–4pm beginning February 10. Taxes are prepared for seniors 55+ who have an income of $40,000 or less. Make sure you have all relevant tax papers before calling 847-448-8250 to make an appointment.
