Designed by IICA, this five-day workshop was organized with the objective of familiarizing participants with a variety of concepts related to sustainability at three levelsindividual, organizational, and societal, with particular emphasis on corporate governance, and the evolving role of business in society. The Singapore component of the programme also featured a field visit component to the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation where participants were briefed on the various path-breaking initiatives championed by INTERPOL on cyber risk governance, innovation in policing, INTERPOL database operations, global communications and in building sustainable public-private partnerships.

IICA ‘GOVERNANCE FOR SUSTAINABILITY’ PROGRAMME CONCLUDES

IN SINGAPORE

20 - 26 May 2019

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), concluded a five-day Indo-

Singapore workshop on “Governance for Sustainability” on 26 May 2019 in

Singapore. The programme, organized by the Centre of Excellence for

Sustainable Development witnessed engaged participation from senior

leadership of various ministries and leading public sector enterprises. Designed

by IICA, this five-day workshop was organized with the objective of familiarizing

participants with a variety of concepts related to sustainability at three levels—

individual, organizational, and societal, with particular emphasis on corporate

governance, and the evolving role of business in society. The Singapore

component of the programme also featured a field visit component to the

INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation where participants were briefed on

the various path-breaking initiatives championed by INTERPOL on cyber risk

governance, innovation in policing, INTERPOL database operations, global

communications and in building sustainable public-private partnerships.

Management University; Dr. Madhuri Sharma, Psychologist – Raffles Hospital,

Singapore, Singapore Institute of Management.

At INTERPOL, the briefings were facilitated by Ms. Chor Ping Woo, AD,

Executive Office, IGCI; Mr. Takayuki Oku, AD, Investigation and Intelligence,

Cybercrime Directorate; Mr. Dough Witschi, AD, Strategic Innovation and Mr.

Ratislav Sasik, Project Manager, CBT and Networks Sub-Directorate. The

programme concluded in Singapore with vote of thanks and certification

ceremony presided by Sh. George Abraham and Dr. Garima Dadich.

The workshop on Increasing Investor Awareness through Outreach was

organized on Thursday, 16th May 2019 at 11.00 A.M. at the Juniper, India

Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The workshop was a part of the ongoing IEPF

Project by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Investor

Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA).

As a part of the IEPF project, IICA has developed training modules, radio jingles

and TV Commercials for investor awareness and protection. Separately, the

National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) has developed

presentations of TV Serials. In order to get a feedback on these capacity

building and communication materials, the IICA organized a workshop with

invited stakeholders particularly the investors and investors associations.

The programme commenced with welcome address by Shri Santosh Parashar,

Chief Programme Executive, Integrated Advocacy Fulcrum, IICA followed by

theme address of Dr. Kamakhya Narayan Singh, Director and CEO, National

Centre for Financial Education. CMA Sanjay Gupta, immediate Past President

of ICMAI addressed on Investor Awareness for Sustainable Growth of Industry

and Economy.

The key note address was delivered by Shri Rajiv Bansal, Additional Secretary

and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and CEO, IEPF Authority.

Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Navneet Chouhan, General Manager,

IEPFA.

WORKSHOP ON SECURITIES MARKETS FOR ICLS OFFICERS

CONCLUDES AT NISM

02 June 2019

NISM has conducted 3 days programme on ‘Understanding Indian Securities

Markets' for senior officers of ICLS during May 31 - June 2, 2019 at NISM

campus, Patalganga. 20 senior officers of ICLS have attended the programme.

The programme was aimed to make the participants aware of various types of

securities market manipulation/frauds, detailed processes of investigations,

enforcement at SEBI and case laws related to investigation matters.

ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIETAL RESPONSIBILITIES’ CONCLUDES IN GOA

3-4 June 2019

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) concluded a two day workshop

on “Integrating Governance with Environmental & Societal Responsibilities” in

Goa on 3-4 June 2019. The programme was organized by School of Corporate

Governance & Public Policy, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs at Goa

witnessing participation from over twenty five public and private organizations.

Characterized by interactive sessions, presentations and case studies, the

programme was facilitated by Dr. Nayan Mitra, Founder Director – Sustainable

Advancements, Shri Bobbymon George, Head Assessment – Satva Consulting,

Shri Prathmesh Raichure, Executive Director Climate Change and Sustainable

IICA-DPE ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR GOVT. NOMINEE

DIRECTORS’ CONCLUDES IN GANGTOK

9-10 May 2019

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the

Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) concluded a two-day orientation

programme for govt. nominee Directors of CPSEs on 9-10 May 2019 in

Gangtok, Sikkim. The programme sessions were facilitated by Dr. Niraj Gupta,

Head, SoCGPP – IICA, Mr. Nawshir Mirza, Independent Director & Board

Member, Tata Power Ltd, Mr. J N Gupta, Former Executive Director SEBI and

Mr. Robin Banerjee, Managing Director Caprihans India Limited. The program

was designed by IICA in consultation with DPE with an objective to expose and

engage the participants on the role of Government Nominee Directors on

boards of companies. The discussions focused on various key aspects of the

directors’ roles and responsibilities in audit committees, CSR Committees; their

role in risk management, strategy and sustainability of business and the

regulatory framework governing the companies and the boards. The

programme was concluded with closing remarks and certification by Mr. Lokesh

Bajpai, Deputy Director Department of Public Enterprises.

IICA-DPE CBT ON M&A, PORT BLAIR

IICA-DPE CONCLUDES RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMME ON MERGERS AND

ACQUISITIONS IN PORT BLAIR

24 June 2019

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the

Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) concluded a five day residential

program on "Mergers & Acquisitions incl. Disinvestment - compliance under

Company law and SEBI rules/regulations /guideline" on 24 June 2019 in Port

Blair witnessing representation by senior officials of 28 CPSEs. IICA designed

the workshop with the purpose of orienting the participants with the governance

and compliance frameworks as prescribed by the Companies Act 2013 and

SEBI provisions on mergers, acquisitions, and divestments. The programme

was facilitated by Mr. Amit Gupta, MD – Amit Gupta & Associates, Prof. Sunder

Ram Korivi, Senior Consultant NIFM, Dr. Ahindra Chakrabarti, Director Great

Lakes Institute of Management and Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head, SoCGPP. The

programme was concluded with closing session & remarks with certification

ceremony.

NLSIU PGDBAL PROGRAMME FOR ICLS OFFICERS AND TRAINEES

COMMENCES IN MAY

11 May 2019

The NLSIU commenced the second PGDBAL program for ICLS officers and

officer trainees of the 9th Batch of the ICLS from 11th May 2019. The 6

modules comprising of various laws will be completed from May through July

2019 The ICLS officers, after successful completion of the program, will be

granted “Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Allied Laws” and the officers

will be eligible for pursuing PhD in law within next 15 years on successful

completion of PGDBAL.

RESEARCH AND PRACTICE

IICA CONDUCTS NEED ASSESSMENT FOR TOYOTA INDUSTRIES

ENGINE INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs concluded a need assessment study in

the plant periphery of Toyota Industries Engine India Private Limited. The study

is an effort directed towards identifying needs and understanding the current

status of the communities in Anekal Tehsil of Urban Bangalore to collect data

from household, Gram panchayat, Primary Health centres, Aanganwadi from 4

different villages. Broadly, the thematic areas for the study were Education,

Health and Sanitation, Skill Development and Livelihood; and Envronment

which are in accordance with the CSR policy of TIEI.

The need assessment study for the communities were aligned to the Indicators

of SDGs, and MPIs, and Human development index. The study by the IICA-

NFCSR team is an in-depth study which revealed certain key areas that need

urgent attention. The final report was prepared which comprises of different

chapters on data analysis, key findings of the village and interventions give a

clear picture of the kind of problems faced by people and the needs that are to

be addressed along with the priority of the intervention. Keeping the Company’s

CSR Policy in purview, major areas of interventions, which the company may

wish to consider during the implementation of the CSR projects, were

recommended. The recommendations are suggested by deliberations on

several long term and short term program possibilities.

IICA CONDUCTS NEED ASSESSMENT FOR RESTORATION OF JOHN

HALL IN GURUGRAM

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs is conducting a need assessment study

for the restoration of cultural heritage site – John Hall in Gurugram, Haryana

also known as the Agricultural Hall. The study is being conducted for IGT

Solutions (IGT) which is a leading BPM, Technology and Digital Services and

Solutions Company committed to deliver innovation and business excellence

across the entire spectrum of Travel, Transportation and Hospitality domain.

A Project Management Unit (PMU) for CSR was set up as a joint venture of

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), with Department of Industries &

Commerce (DoI), Government of Haryana. The PMU is supervising and

coordinating the study for the purpose of land survey, infrastructure site survey

and desk research and providing reference for further documentation of details

of the structure. The team of land surveyors and architects are working on the

site with respect to photo documentation of details of the building such as

mouldings of structure, balcony details, railing details, door and window panels

and frames. A team of conservation architects are working on secondary

research through archival and internet sources to gain an understanding of the

structure.

IICA KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTRE LAUNCHES KINDLE LENDING

SERVICES

3 June 2019

The IICA Knowledge Resource Centre and Library launched its Kindle lending

services on Monday. Faculty, staff and student community at IICA can now

avail this service to support their coursework and professional development.
